Because old age catches up with us all and our looks sometimes fade. In his case he was conceited because he had the arrogance youth. Now he’s a bit older and a little more humbled. Plus his story feels like a kind of a comeback ark for him. Hence how he’s gone form prosecutor to public defender, and now judge in the second season.
