Women don't look mean when they aren't smiling, they look powerful and some people just can't handle it.
Thank you for posting this ❤️
The truth
pigpjs you are so right! And I would even say ‘MOST’ others can’t handle it!!!
i’ve always said that 💯
You're absolutely right.... they know how to smile and be mean too....
Mostly because the patriarchy
Just playing
I can see how native women can look "mean" to some people... I think we look stoic, strong and proud.
I find resting mean face is universal... kinda sucks if you have anxiety and you see a woman looking at you like you stole her man and her cat... an she’s just chilling but you never know cause you’re running away at top speed.
i think this is a woman thing....like if I'm not smiling at all hours of the day literal strangers ask me if I'm okay...
like...dude...I'm just not smiling...my face is resting...
fortunately these mask mandates have cause this to go down to ZERO and I have never felt so free.
jncavv no they look mean to keep the aunties away from their man 😂
@@nezzielongwolf7575 ch- lmao! 🤣
My niece is half Apache, and her chill face is the same, always made my daughter when she was little ask me, "Why Elissa mad, Mama?" 😄
When will the world *EVER* finally realize that celebrating one's heritage can also be fun?
Ikr I love all the love these women give to the others :)
Like allowing white people to do so maybe?
"Excuse me I'm indigenous, coming through" got me cracking up man 😂. That was hilarious.
Me too!! Sooo funny! ❤️❤️ Love these ladies!
Fantastic!!! I’d love to hear that all day.
I loved that!
I use that EVERYWHERE I go in KC, MO. A'ho
@@angelahernandez-bischof4769 Yaaaaas.
I'm a white Canadian woman, but I really appreciate the spread and sharing of native/indigenous awareness, culture, and tradition. I don't know why, but I get so happy and emotional over it lol. Thank you for opening up your culture for us to understand and appreciate 🙏
We need more people becoming aware of Indigenous issues and become vocal supporters with them like you!
Lol
🙏🏽
Same! I'm from Dublin, Ireland and it still makes me all warm inside haha

I love how no matter what rez, what tribe...we ALL laugh so hard and have the best senses of humor.
Unless youre lakota and crow lmao
My first love was a native girl in my class in grade five. I sat behind her so I could see her beautiful black hair. Don't remember much of anything else that year. :D
I'm overjoyed to hear the lovely girls are pursuing Law and Medicine degrees. Rock on, girls!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I agree. I hear lots of stories about how bad education is on reservations or they say they just aren't given the breaks or motivation or any number of reasons they have for having the bad life they have and giving up. So it's wonderful to hear there are those who don't let things affect them that way. That no matter what they are strong and are going to work hard to get a good education to have a better future for themselves. I'm sure these ladies will help many people and even encourage many others to work harder to succeed in their dreams of a better future as well.
👏👏❤️❤️❤️👍👍
I think there is some failure in the female anglo-american civilization (to be so overly dialectic does perhaps work in industry and law, but not in human life) and this gives room for indigenous women everywhere, to prevail with their strength and wits.
a different but great example: young female youtubers from mindanao.
The women all looked so beautiful in their dresses.
Yesss! I agree and I love their message!
Native women look calm, contemplative, and stoic. Dont let anyone force yall to smile if it isnt authentic.
Attended the "Jingle Dress Project" healing ceremony yesterday at the Duwamish Heritage Culture Center longhouse in Seattle yesterday. It was an honor to be there and share in their vision and prayers. Enjoyed being introduced to the visionary Eugene Tapahe who created the project, along with his wife. Beautiful healing dance ceremony. The girls were stunning and represented the spirit of the project well.
Lol if a person came charging through an aisle saying “EXCUSE ME IM INDIGENOUS” i will body jump out of the way
I blew fucking coffee out of my nose from reading that, I'm crying. Tears of what I hope are dark roast are pouring down my face. Thank. You. The fucking mental image 😂
yk and ill literally do this 😭
Lit er ally
That would be terrifying just a random person charging full speed at u lmao
It made me smile.
Ha. I'm the #IndigenousWomanComingThrough from the second video. You missed the best part, when people move off the sidewalk.
I laughed so hard...
Lmao
Hilarious 🙌🏽
the confidence, the finesse *chef's kiss*
Gabriella, you rock. 😹👍🏼
I have that look my father used to call me " Sitting Bull" as I did not smile in any of my school pictures. Both of my grown kids knew better when I had that look..😂 On a serious note my daughter is also bringing indigenous food and the idea of food sovereignty all around the upper eastern US. She is a lifting up indigenous women everywhere!! I love this, bringing healing💖
I'm Celt/Polish and I absolutely love these videos. I'm learning so much and laughing the whole way.
These young women are honoring their ancestors, with the jingle dance. They are dancing to heal the world!!!! They are providing healing, and love during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their project will spread prayers across the world.🌍🌍🌍🌍💖💖💖💖
Yes they are. 🤙
Wonderful
Absolutely, this breaks the ice so well. I only wish more could do this.
Ok Ok ......

Dude! The native girl laugh! I’ve been with the Danish side of the fam my whole life and NOBODY laughs like this but ME! I feel at home 🥰
DAAANNNNGGGGGG... That's a lot of sweetness, smarts, and beauty all concentrated together. Looks like Patrick was having a REALLY good time! Happier than usual.
Did I see Patrick blush when the ladies were talking about cute Native men? 😆
😳😅
Loved that part. Long hair always does me in!!
He handled that perfectly .
Yes Patrick blushed. I missed Jacob in this one.
Yes he did! Hahah
One of the women in the second video, the “excuse me I’m indigenous” video, is also a youtuber! Her name is Hon’mana Seukteoma. Her channel name is Seukteoma
No way! I didn't know that I'll look her up! So good to know.
Thanks you
"Excuse me I'm indigenous" is the native American version of "move I'm gay" and I'm here for it

When the women described their visit to Mt. Rushmore in the wake of a MAGA event and they described how the crowd parted in awe, I cried. Keep being powerful, strong women and thank you for bringing something healing and positive to so many places.
I have had random strangers tell me to "smile" when I'm just walking along thinking about my grocery list. I must be scary!
It’s beautiful to see what these young indigenous women are doing.
Indigenous to where👀👀
I prefer First Nation Women, with Capital letters
sinmore11 First Nation People is a term used in Canada. However, you may use the term you prefer and I as well.
@@sinmore11 I'm First Nation and we don't we use first nation unless it's professional but down in Canada we say we're just native
This is great, i enjoy your videos. A suggestion; invite different natives, or tribes on your show. I like the cause and awareness they are spreading.🤗
Y'all natives have the most beautiful faces and hair.
Ugh. I LOVE their hair. Makes me so jealous.

The feeling of pride and empowerment these women gave off when they changed into their dresses was tangible through my screen. This was absolutely beautiful to see. Thank you so much for sharing your culture with the world❤️
Your channel is warm and funny; you make modern Native culture something accessible, and I love that it is at once celebratory and grounded. It reminds me not to feel guilty but to appreciate the people who are in my life and to not take myself so seriously. 🙃
The jingle dress photos are absolutely stunning! So great seeing women being bold and embracing their culture. Everything about this project is beautiful.
My granddaughter is a jingle dancer and I'm telling you these young people are amazing!! Keep up the great work young ladies!! I tell my granddaughter she is the symbol for many of her family members, dance proudly and remember your prayers so your ancestors know you are dancing just for them!!
good for her, i'm not indigenous but i'm always impressed by jingle dancers. (anybody strong enough to dance to a powwow-length song in what can be 30-40 pounds of regalia if they're full-grown deserves much respect, as do other traditional and more modern style dancers.)
I love how red Patrick's face gets during the "judging" video.
😳😅😂
I saw another native RUclipsr talk about the powwow, one clip showed Patrick doing thing. Her response was, he's REALLY good. I agree, he's good 😄
@@kylezmcgee455 which RUclipsr??
I'll do the same 😄
We seriously need a 2021 Calendar of the Jingle Dress Project in large format. I am 67 and high risk of Covid. I have been holed up in my tiny apartment for nearly ten months now and alone. This video and the second one (saw them in reverse) have given me hope and reminded me of the jingle deans giving me hope. These young ladies are not only beautiful and an insiration but are also a reminder of the strength and resiliency of the "something else" culture. My grandmother was a decedent of the Powhatan. My grandfather was "rumored" to be Cherokee but the genealogy has numerous dead ends that won't let us get there. That is all to say that I am an "Old White Guy" but I have respect for indigenous people all around the world. Thank you all for these happy moments and the smiles I needed during these videos. And a calendar on the wall would be a great help for daily life next year. Spiral bound with a photo on top and grid on the bottom sheet as they ae hung horizontal would be awesome. Just a thought. PS What some people think of as "resting bitch face" is just their insecurities as they fear strong females and do not get it. You keep on keeping on ladies!!! Strong men are not afraid of strong women. They are attracted to them. It can be a filter to find the good ones!
Those young ladies are headed to Law and Medical school?? Life does have meaning!!!
You sound surprised
Excuse me, I’m indigenous coming through I just burst out laughing
Excuse me, I really was here first!

Indigenous women are gorgeous. When they're not smiling I don't see mean, I see focused. I love the message of healing during these plague times, trying to keep up my part in the healing too. 💝👍
My whole life my siblings and I grew up believing we were black and hispanic...lol... a few weeks ago we found out our grand parents were indigenous. When you don't your foundation/makeup it's like a piece of you is missing. It's an odd feeling. Like the vid. Wish all you the best.
Yeah most black and white Americans have no native
The photo cover of Vogue Magazine was soooo amazingly beautiful!! Truely representing!! Excellent show, once again Patrick you and the ladies show very fun & funny😊
People who can laugh at their culture through the eyes of others because they see a reflection of themselves are my favorite! Y’all weren’t ridiculing your culture, you were appreciating the things that make you different! I especially loved the laugh clip and the bit about Native girls always seeming mean. Honestly? I’ve had indigenous friends throughout my life who have a very somber presence, but when I got the time to know them, I realized it was just a shell to hold the robust personality inside!
Stoicism is a little bit of a stereotype but I get where it comes from. It’s a cultural thing with some tribes. Where I live, there’s a huge variety of different tribes and Pueblos nearby and each one has a different culture. I’ve met Navajo people who are more stoic and in line with the stereotype, and I’ve met Navajo people who are worlds away from it, extremely outgoing and boisterous, even with white people. I’ve also met native men who are outgoing and extremely friendly with everyone, including white people like me. Part of that depends on the tribe, part depends on the age of the person. I’ve noticed much older people are more reserved in general whereas the younger people I met in high school and college were generally less so.
I also have to say, in a related note, the demographics of where I’m from are very unique so the relationships the tribes have with each other here and also with non-natives are unique. About 60% of my states’ population is affiliated with a tribe and the rest are Hispanic, white, asian, and black and have no tribal affiliation. Indigenous people aren’t a minority here in terms of the numbers but we still didn’t have our first indigenous congressperson until 2018 so the situation of the indigenous people here is about the same as it is elsewhere.
Mexican we make fun of ourselves what chu mean Pablo

Found out at the age of 35 then my great-great-grandmother was full-blooded North Creek Indian from Alabama. I could not have been prouder I'm 64 yeah now and I've yet to learn everything I want to learn about "the people.". But I just found your show and I love watching you girls and the young gentleman too. You are beautiful, sweet, and just a stunning representation of what the native people are keep up the good work girls I love seeing you guys on RUclips thank you
Oh my goodness, these four young ladies are absolutely stunning in those photos, especially the black and whites. Erin and Dion's father is an amazing photographer. What he captured in those photos brought tears to my eyes. Also, the cause they are supporting is of such importance in the US and Canada. 😂👍👍
This was exactly the medicine I needed...as a healer in a segregated area, this year may have been the straw... I have never felt more alone ..if possible. But finding and watching you beautiful ladies today , words cannot convey the emotion, but mainly the intense connection to you and to all our ancestors. No matter the details... The message is the same. Please continue to make medicine. It comes in so many forms. Blessings in All your studies. Medicine and Law are what We as A People need and deserve but mostly if It's your deepest Passion then you have truly found your way. Laying of hands 🙌. Sisters, future leaders, leading warriors ♐
I hope you feel better. Just remember to breath.
We love all our beautiful native women💕✨
When I first moved to Denver, a lot of the girls I was around told me I “looked intimidating or mean” and it wasn’t until I met a member of the Winnebago tribe who told me, “Nah, you just look native girl. You have that Rez face.” I am Navajo and I’ve never felt more seen in my life. LMAO

It's so funny, I don't live in an area with a high Native population, but I recognize so many of these personality traits like the laughing, the side eye, and the "mean" resting face. My momma, auntie, and I all do these 🤣

Coming from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Im south east asian and these girls look like my cousins.
My daughter (Half Japanese) was with me on a work trip to the AZ Reservation, we were going into Monument Valley and she was sitting with my Dine/Navajo coworker and another coworker who was Native as well in the van I was driving. Natives get in free to the park. I am Bilagáana / White and I was the only one who paid to get in, they thought my daughter was Native too.
Most native american looks a little asian well they say we came out of siberia some of us are east. Asian too look at dene and inuit
I think this is why I love the music by "The Hu".
Right? They look like similar to my aunties!
Yeah hey. I'm SE Asian and once I bought a Navajo taco from this lady because I couldn't get over how she looked exactly like my mum. Then she said I looked like one of her daughters. Lol!

Native cultures always fascinate me, through out the world local people who’s cultural ways and cultural beliefs are so vast
You all are soo beautiful and funny and cool! So glad the newer generations are continuing traditions of meaning, healing and hope. Much love to you all!
Indigenous is a beautiful creation of God , I’m proud to be from the yaqui tribe of Mexico. I love it 💃🏻
it saddens my hear, as someone who lives and grew up in germany where we learn our whole lifes that what was done in ww2 was wrong and why. and then you see the the the usa beeing overly proud beeing better then the germany but they still segregated after ww2, they discriminated against jews, they put the natives in reservations... and people still get treated like second class citizens. how can you be so proud to be the melting pot when in reality they see the minorities as the slag....
i'm tearing up, i'm sorry ...
i’m american and you are 100% right
Another American here; The people here in the U.S. are brainwashed with nationalism and told that we're the best country in the world, we are the heroes, there would be no freedom without us, etc. etc. etc. We are taught about what we did to the Native Americans as if it was just a long time ago and it "wasn't that bad" (they do the same thing with our history regarding slavery and the Japanese "internment" camps). In most of our public schooling we aren't even really taught the seriousness of what we did to the natives as things like the trail of tears and the forced separation of native children from their parents is glossed over, and the crimes such as forced sterilization of native women isn't even discussed at all.
Do not be sad and do not think of past things that are best forgotten. These past 100 years have been nothing but lies taught to us. Fear, racism, hatred........all of that crap has been taught to us. We are children of God , Creator, Grandfather( all the same) WE SHALL OVERCOME AND UNITE !!! You and these girls should be proud of who and what you are. Things are changing, people are changing for the better. We can write our own future together. It is up to US which direction we want to go.......be positive and do not let these demonic people drag you and keep you down, please put on your Spiritual gear and be ready to battle !!! As long as our Father goes before us.......we can not lose. No weapon formed against us shall prosper !!! Jesus told us this...."Be of Good cheer...the battle has already been won". I Love you......everything is going to be just fine. Keep Living, Loving and Laughing okay.....
HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU KKKANADA. We are not the innocent nation we project to the world. Its disgusting the way the government actively perpetuates violence to this DAY against the native peoples
As a white American whose Grandfather's served in WW2, it is Utterly SHAMEFUL what we close our own eyes to in America! It is 100% Wrong and I cry with you, as a generally tough man as well.
Strong, intelligent, kind, funny, empowered and beautiful. You ladies have it all going on. Good luck to you all and greetings from Australia 😊🙏
