Supposedly the homeless man on top of the train was the ghost of someone who previously tried to hitch a ride on the train but didn't get off the top in time and died crashing against the top of the gallery, hence him warning the kid so much about it.
I actually loved this movie as a kid and still do. Also since Scrooge appears in this movie maybe you could watch Disney's A Christmas Carol from 2009. It's motion capture too.
10:01 Also, fun fact: this puppet was the inspiration for Scrooge's design in the Jim Carrey _Christmas Carol_ - they just made him look more like, you know, Jim Carrey.
Say what you will about it, But "The Polar Express" is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies! In fact one of my favorite parts is when they drive the train across the frozen lake, It's the most badass scene in the entire film in my opinion!
When I first watched it, my parents bought me a little jingle bell that was exactly what the bell in the polar express was supposed to be, a bell that only rings if you believe in Santa Claus. It even came with a ticket to the polar express I've had that bell for 10+ years
I've never seen Polar Express (only a part here or there in the beginning I think bc I thought I already missed the majority of it when it would play on TV) and I genuinely cannot tell how long this movie is. This video is only 19 minutes but the movie clips made it feel like I was watching for 3 hours 😭
My sister is a Kindergarten teacher. She shows her students this movie. Nice to see the legacy continue, even if this movie hasn't held up upon recent rewatch for me.
I literally just watched this on stream last night, talking about how much I love this movie. I then wake up and see the title and immediately started dying laughing. Like bro I just said this was my favorite Christmas movie and the first thing I see next day is how bad it is lmaooo
I actually really like this movie. I think it is very good. Btw, the Polar Express locomotive is actually a real locomotive. The Pere Marquette 1225. It currently runs in Owosso Michigan. You can see it if you want.
Also, the author of the Polar Express (original book) was from Grand Rapids, MI and would watch the steam trains running in and out. Pere Marquette's Detroit-Grand Rapids main line ran right by his backyard. Non-zero chance he grew up watching 1225 (and the other N-1 class Berks) running by his house.
I watched this movie on Christmas Eve because it’s a tradition for my family relatives on my mum’s side to watch it every Christmas Eve. It’s not my thing, but at least my family was into it.
Fun fact: That train carriage shouldn't have started free rolling as the brakes would've activated. These trains use hydraulic or air systems to force the brakes open and if there's a fault then it locks. But I guess for movie purposes that logic doesn't exist.
seeing as the train cars literally bend like rubber when going around the corners on the mountain scene, i dont think logic applies to this train at all
When I was in 5th grade, there were 2 movies we would watch. The polar Express and national treasure. I could probably recite the lines from both movies word for word. Must've watch both 100 times.
I never got to see this movie as a kid and I had the grand misfortune of missing every screening on tv as an adult. My first experience with the movie at all was that RUclips edit where they play the Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift song during the ice lake scene and to this day that remains a core memory.
It's based off a book and the book is short children's picture book. So like... There's not much plot in the original so they kinda just added stuff in to make the run time longer lmao
i feel that misses the point of the movie? its like asking whats the plot of slice of life. Sometimes a minimalistic plot is an excuse to make the journey exist In the first place. The characters are bare bones yes but I feel there is a reason it is a standard Christmas movie they show In schools. Drinking hot chocolate In elementary school while watching the movie was a fulfilling experience for me. Being In collage right now I kind of miss those times
Someone made an EAS Scenario video of the Polar Express. Really reminds you that it’s really creepy that a conductor is kidnapping children and freaking the parents out.
Idc what people say about polar express I loved it as a kid and I still love it now yes it didn’t age well but I still love the music, characters, and the messages in the movie not hating on y’all video I just really like polar express hope y’all did had a good Christmas
I rewatched this movie for a few days ago and it's for real so unnecessarily and purposefully scary. You saying it looks like Bully has put all of the puzzle pieces together in my mind and explained exactly why this movie feels so grimy and unsettling to me.
It is crazy how much this movie has all the conventions of a typical horror game story. It may be kind of tired trope, but you could very easily re-edit this into a horror trailer.
This is my favorite childhood movie, i dont know if i cant see the uncanny valley or whatever but i love it. It feels like a moving renaissance painting, even now i see bells like the one he got i think about Santa…..
It’s an odd movie that takes up a very large part of my memories, because back in Elementary School, they’d play this movie for every class every year just before Christmas Break.
Still my favorite Christmas movie....EVER. I actually have a HO scale 284 Berkshire engine like the movie and hand-painted "Polar Express" on the tender....that was a few years ago...could use a repaint
Me and two other friends were friends with one of the english teachers in my highschool. The year after we graduated we all got together and watched this and we kept telling her that all of the kids were dead and his Christmas wish was for a second chance and that's why he is so hype the next morning
Love this movie. Every Christmas my family always gets together to watch it in our living room. it's one of the only times I sit together with my family
He doesn't believe her when she tells him its the brake BECAUSE THAT LITERALLY HIS CHARACTER TRAIT THAT HE LEARNS TO OVERCOME IN THE MOVIE. HE'S SKEPTICAL, HE DOESN'T TRUST, HE DOESN'T BELIEVE.

i still love this movie edit: that reminds me. In regards to this movie, every year at my elementary school, they'd have the fifth graders perform a theatrical version of the movie for all the lower grades. It was certainly an experience.
6:45 "Is Santa God?" No joke the principal of my elementary/middle school (who has a Masters in Theology and is the biggest nerd I have ever met) had us analyze the religious subtext of how The Polar Express is an allegory for Atheism, where Santa is supposed to represent God, the MC represents the average atheist, the conductor as Christ/ The Holy Spirit (I forget which one he's supposed to be), the other children representing different types of Christians, and the hobo representing the MC's guardian angel. I remember us getting pretty deep into that analysis. Good times 👍

Also say what you want about this movie, but this is a classic, and I genuinely think the animation looks pretty great for the most part
Can yall watch Grandma got Runover by a reigndeer? That movie is literally insane, Santa kidnaps this woman instead of bringing her to a hospital, there’s SO MUCH HAPPENING
It would have been so weird if they went with their initial idea to have Tom Hanks in all the roles. Im glad they got other actors involved.

I love Kor's disbelief when they play the song a 14th time right before ending the movie

I still love this movie. The part where they go full Initial D with the drifting still hypes me up to this day.

And hideous and creepy and gives you motion sickness. It's Polar Express turned up to 11.
