- A collection from the Channel 405 archives: satellite DXing dating from the early to mid 90's featuring various testcards, PAL live ENG PTC's, D2MAC and DMAC promos, trailers & in vision announcers from TV3, Filmnet+, TV1000, NRK and others.
The PAL and D2MAC recordings were received on a Ferguson SRB1 BSB set top box converted for PAL and D2MAC reception using a Transworld Satellites conversion kit.
One of the ENG live PTC's is on the day it was announced BMW had taken over Rover Group in April 1994. The satellite link was live from (as far as I know) the Round House at Longbridge. I came across this satellite link purely by chance. The signal level was a bit low for my 1m dish at the time hence the noise. During recording I switched between the sat link and the off air broadcast. It was by ITN for the early evening on ITV presented by John Suchet.
The last sequence is Norwegian state broadcaster NRK broadcasting in DMAC as received on an original tatung BSB set top box. There's no audio on this clip because the BSB receiver firmware didn't like the data packets carrying the TV sound. This clip includes a bit of (very basic!) BSB receiver menu and diagnostic data.
I've got hours more D2MAC in the archives which may be added in due time, if there's demand!
