Ok, Jimmy Savile. In America, you guys had Mister Rogers - wholesome, kind-hearted, Christian, full of hope and love. Here in Britain we had Jimmy Savile - incredibly creepy, eccentric wierdo who became a household name on TV, making kid's dreams come true and raising millions for charity. There were allegations about him but nothing stuck and then after he died the truth came out - it turns out he was one of the most evil and prolific paedophile monsters that ever walked the earth. HUNDREDS of victims: women, girls, boys, the disabled, the sick in hospital, even necrophilia with corpses in the hospital mortuary. He is now remembered as one of the worst predatory sex offenders in history, who hid in plain sight on our TV screens every week.

It turned out to be false but at Middlesbrough games we all got loads of abuse from visiting fans about being child molesters. I remember at one game after barrages of abuse it was announced over the tannoy that a young fan from the visiting team had gone missing. For most football fans though, the matches themselves are their therapy; letting off steam, singing at the top of their voices, enjoying the camaraderie and eliminating feelings of isolation. Football matches are hugely important for maintaining working class culture and traditions but also for mental health, especially for men. Long may the chants and singing continue.

The reason Leeds fans hate Sky TV is that they keep rescheduling their fixtures for live TV coverage. Fans come from all over Europe to watch Leeds and have often arranged their travel and hotel accommodation months in advance to get the best prices. Only to have a late change that throws their plans into chaos. Sky approached Leeds to ask how they could improve their image and end the hostility with L:eeds fans. They were told the constant short term fixture changes were the problem. The following week Sky announced a series of short term fixture changes for Leeds so they are seen as not wanting a resolution and hence the hostility.

a detailed breakdown on the chants and how it happens for those who don't know or want to know
so the tunes are melody that everyone knows, either nursery rhymes, songs we sang in primary school, iconic british songs or pop culture jingles like the Adams family or even just a tune from an advert that we all know and sometimes clubs will choose a song to play at a game and the fans pick it up and run with it or use another teams anthem against them changing the lyrics on the fly.
At a game usually chants come up because of something in the news that's associated with the club or a player, (adam johnson) or a manager (fergie=alex ferguson), or jimmy saville who wasn't a player or a manager just someone we all collectively hate and use to express our displeasure for someone or something, so our chants can either praise a good thing/player or condemn a bad thing/player ect.
so for chants made up on the spot they usually come out of nowhere started by one or two creative people in a crowd that starts chanting to a tune we all know like i said before, and because we know it people hear it and instantly understand the melody were running with, then the next bit is what's being said, if the things being said are relevant to what's happening on the news or in general or in the moment, then its just putting it together which happens almost instantly like a hive mind. when were all on board the noise builds up then its instantly clear and people can join in right away, ( its so well timed because most of us sang hymns in school and had to learn to be on time with everyone else and that ability never left us it just evolved)
but honestly its just instant, our brains do it without much thought and usually the chant is something were all thinking anyway, so we all join in because we agree, chanting is truly the voice of our people and our viewpoint on things, if it was offhanded or out of place it wouldn't catch on and the person shouting would look stupid were british we hate looking stupid when prides involved, but if we agree then this is what happens

    To fully understand English football
    Please react to
    Atherstone Shrovetide ball games
Its the pre cursor to modern football explains alot about the mentality
Basically back in the day when it was FIRST RECORDED ON PAPER
    IN THE EARLY 1100'S
    there was one rule
The game was started in the town centre by local factory owners who all chipped-in/SPONSORED an entire sack of gold
The reinforced sack was dropped in the middle of the town and a timer of 3 hours form memory was started
At the end of time the person holding the sack of gold won the sack of gold
Now here's where it gets interesting
They had to introduce the no killing rule in the late 1800's along with no eye gouging
This is the only rules to this day with the exception of the boundaries which is the main street in town only today
Player can come close or 1000 in number and its better described as
ROYAL RUMBLE crossed with something to do with a football
My favourite part is watching the police watching the whole town fighting and looking so uncomfortable with it its hilarious 😂
    Atherstone Shrovetide games
    Please
Do not mix it up with Ashbourne
    They are different and similar
    Atherstone actually resembles rugby/American football
While Ashbourne resembles football a bit more
The football standardisation or association of football rules came from both however
You see a similar mentality throughout English football from the fighting firms/hooligans to the crowd chants etc etc
