Hi Guys! I've watched several of your sports reaction videos, Aussie rules, cricket and here rugby and I'm sure you know what hockey is. Let me invite you to Ireland where we play a game that is all of the above! We call it hurling ruclips.net/video/TmzivRetelE/видео.html Bear in mind that hurling is completely amatuer but the elite players may as well be pros they train so hard. Enjoy!!
The issue with many of these 'big hits' rugby videos is that they don't make clear which tackles are illegal and why, which is important to know when your learning about the sport.
Came to the comments hoping to see this at the top. Yea it's rough and actually players do have a touch of padding built into the jerseys for collarbone etc... but it's SOOO important to highlight that most of these are illegal or at least have since affected changes in the rules to reduce/discourage.
@@RNTV In the older days you used to get away with a lot more but in more recent years there's been players suing orgs for not protecting them. You're not allowed to pick someone up and spear them into the ground, past horizontal anyway. You must attempt to wrap your arms too, you can't just stick your shoulder into someone's chest. But, you still see it and they're picked up more now.
I once heard an American say that the reason American Football isn't played much outside the US is people in other countries can't afford the helmets and pads and that's why every other country plays rugby as the cheaper version. I was like, no we play rugby because we don't need padding and head protection and like games that don't stop every 10 seconds of play for commercials. It's the same with baseball and cricket, we don't need a massive glove to catch a ball... 😜

@ Absolutely. The understanding that physical power does not override constraining power. The power of of the rules of the game overall are more important than than the outcome of an individual game. We sadly look the U.S. and will see if this is something they understand over the next week or so.

To answer Mike's question. Any contact with the head or neck area even accidental in rugby is now a big no no and could result in the aggressor being sent off (made to leave the field) and not allowed to be replaced. So your team plays a man light for the rest of the match. These rules were tightened pretty recently due to the number of concussions players received from playing. My great uncle played professional rugby union for London Irish as a forward and you'd often find him post match with a black eye or his nose relocated half way across his face!!
@@petes9524 Not many sports in the world where you do serious physical damage to yourself and in the real world would be sidelined for quite a long time and yet are prepared to do it again a few hours later.
I met him in a pub on a Scottish island. He was the nicest guy in the world. He also had a Scottish accent, explained he wasn't Sebastian Chabal, and then asked if i'd ever watched "Game of Thrones". It was Rory McCann; the guy who plays The Hound. I'm such a tit. Was plastered.
If I recall, the average live time of an American football game is about 10-15 minutes of actual play despite games lasting for hours on end. (And they say cricket is a long-winded, subdued affair, hahaha) And of course, as rugby fans we know that is boring as our games are nigh-on constant action for 80 minutes excluding half time.
I like us football I prefer to call it gridiron football for that reason it is a game of starts and stops the game of inches it's the tactical one hit throws that make it a watchable sport @@scrappystocks
Rugby players are trained on how to tackle and hit relatively safely. There are some American football teams that train their players in rugby tackle techniques to improve player safety. A number of hits and tackles shown are actually illegal and players then get carded and even suspended for a number of games. Above the shoulder hits, head contact by the tackler, tip/spear tackles and in the air tackles are now illegal but some may have been legal at the time of the specific clip. That dive through the air try at 8:24 didn't stand as he placed the ball on the line, therefor in touch
@@kylegrace4718 Look both rugby and American football (and boxing) are contact sports so the risks are never going to be completely eradicated but with training (and laws/regulations/rules) the risks can be reduced.
Played for 25 years. Portugal, England and Northern Ireland. Had to stop because of a knee injury. And still going back into the pitch every now and then :)
@chrisalldis3375 it's not about noticing the ref although I take your point. The respect for refs in this brutal sport is absolute so it is definitely worth a watch.
The Six Nations starts on the 31st of January 2025. I'm sure there must be a sports channel in America that broadcasts it. Or there's the internet. Defo worth watching.
You really need to check out Jonah Lomu..He was a total machine who played his international career while being hooked onto a dialysis machine Also Nigel Owens. The Best referee to ever officiate a game. Total respect from all the all the players
Another rugby video you should do is 10 Minutes of Nigel Owens being Nigel Owens. He's the best and wittiest rugby referee ever. See how he has those man-giants completely under his thumb.
My favourite Nigel Owen’s quote, which you need to know he is openly gay to get the humour, throw ins from the sideline have to be straight down the middle and not to your team mate. On a throw in that was blatantly to a team mate “I’m straighter than that” 😂
I played for one of the top English teams in the 1970s. I took and gave lots of hard tackles, and barely took any injuries. Of course there were plenty of bruises, but I only ever had two injuries that necessitated me leaving the pitch. One was a sprained ankle, which was treated with pain killing spray, an ice pack and a support bandage. I only missed about 5 mins of the match because I suffered the injury just before half time. The other one was in a tackle, when I was struck in the face by a boot. It was totally accidental, but split the skin under my eyebrow. I had to be taken to hospital for stitches, and missed the rest of the match. 50 years later, and my eyebrows still never grow evenly! Football (soccer) players seem to get worse injuries than rugby players.
It does look like, to give and take those Rugby tackles you have to be stocky. Either in fat or muscles mass and good bones too. Majority of todays soccer players are pansies, they scream and yell and trash about as soon as someone is in a 10 foot radius around them.
I love both sports. NFL is a totally different proposition to Rugby Union (which I definitely prefer), once you get into the NFL though, the skills of the players are phenomenal too, just in a different subset from Rugby players. Rees Zammet couldn't make the cut at Kansas City Chiefs, which I was personally a bit gutted by, I was really looking forward to seeing him play.
@@jonathanbradshaw2665yes my son used to play both. Have to admit when I took him to play rugby I stood and watched but when it was American football I used to get bored after about 15 minutes and go and sit in the car or do some shopping
I'm a Rugby fan since I'm a kid, I live in Toulouse, France. I like NFL too. Of course not as much as I love Rugby, but still, NFL isn't a children's sport come on. Soccer is.
Pity the great Jonah could never score against the Springboks of South Africa, the only team to have won Rugby World Cup FOUR times (including the last two events).

One thing worth mentioning is that disrespect towards the ref is an absolute no no, punishable in some cases by a loss of ten meters territory for dissent. Check out referee Nigel Owens, for a master class in rugby refereeing.
I love your reaction to this wonderful sport. Thank you. The thing to remember about this sport, is that regardless of size, the referee is in complete control and their word is law. I love all of your content. Thank you so much for your awesome reactions to what we Brits love.
Great reaction Mike and Jess. Yes, for sure Rugby is a pretty brutal sport. Maybe check out "Greatest Solo Tries In Rugby History" (8.25 mins) and not forgetting the greatest ever rugby player of all time Jonah Lomu "He was IMPOSSIBLE to stop! | Jonah Lomu" (8.39 mins). 🏉
Totally agree! Jonah Lomu was a legend! In a full run he was like a train and watching players attempt to bring him down and just fall away is brilliant!
The thing with watching rugby on TV is you dont realise how big and powerful some of these lads actually are. Im 6ft4 and was 17 stone when i played in the army and i felt small when i met some of the england team. Also i would like to add i got injured more playing rugby than when i was boxing its one hell of a tough sport but it ls one if not the best sports to play if your an adrenaline junkie that dont mind getting hurt.
It's awsome at the game in person, the sounds of the teams running up and down the field is like a cattle stampede and the tackles ring out with a loud smack and are akin to a small car crash.
Hey again! Nice! Actually the majority of the hits they show in this video are illegal and were probably punished by the ref. You can't hit a defender with the elbow, you can't tackle above the shoulders, you can't tackle a player in the air, you can't tackle a player in such a way that he would land upside down on his head and so on. I am watching rugby regularly but I don't get to see such phases very often.
Greetings from Scotland! I was born in South Wales and rugby was played in my school. I remember the day that the games teacher wanted to introduce us to football - we all sat on the side-lines and point blank refused to play it! So it was never "introduced" again! 😂 The best thing about rugby matches is that all the violence happens on the pitch during the game. VERY rare to see crowd battles, and normally, both teams supporters go down to the local pubs to drink together! Not something you see in football............. It is a brutal sport, but you know that before getting into the game. I was put in hospital at 13yo with damage to my hip. I was happy because it meant I had a month or two off school - the hospital had good food, it was warm, comfy beds and we all got on very well in the ward! 😊 Best of all, it was quite a way from my home and my parents couldn't afford to visit me very often - BONUS! 😂😂
If you notice, the play doesn't stop when a player is injured. As long as the play is moving away, the medics can attend the players laying on the ground (i have seen several players being attended). But if the ball starts returning to the injured players or if the team scores, the game will pause until the players rejoin the team or taken away. RUGBY, NFL, AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL etc are impact sports. Everything else is a contact sport
Now you know what Dricus Du Plessis meant when he said, "hulle weet nie, wat ons weet nie" (they dont know what we know) South Africa (Springboks) have won the rugby world cup 4 times, 1995, 2007, 2019 and 2023. The rugby world cup innaugral year was 1987, because of being boycotted, we were only allowed to participate in the rugby world cup from 1995 onwards. Played in 8 rugby world cups, won 4, not too shabby. South Africans - we live for rugby!
That was the world champs that made those moves, the south African Springboks, I've watched them consistently lately, man ' they have talent, speed, massive forwards, Ali really injoy watching them
yeah the south Africans train right next to the wildlife parks so every once in a while a lion or a leopard chases them so they gotta be quick to escape
always look forward to you two...the bro's kinda low energy quietly laughing and the wife flat out cackling high energy...😅love the way ya's are, sheers muchly for the company...and hello from New Zealand🖐
I watch the NFL and not rugby... mainly because I haven't taken the time to understand what the rules in rugby are. From what I can tell, they superficially look similar but have very different dynamics and so are probably as comparable as football (soccer) and rugby. I am pretty sure if some of the tackles allowed in NFL were done in rugby, there would be a lot of serious injuries, which is why they wear pads.
I tried watching the Superbowl a few years ago. But I had to switch off after about 45 mins. It was so frustrating. They spend more time standing around talking, than they do playing. I found myself shouting at the TV (Hurry up! Just hurry up!). They played for 10 seconds. Then spent 2 mins talking about what to do next. No wonder the game takes 4 hours. I bet they play less than 1 hr. I'm really sorry, I gave it a shot. But never again. I thought Rugby and NFL were going to be similar. But they're completely different. One is a sport. The other is a social club.
You are 100% correct when you were talking about the shoulder in rugby vs how they use their head in NFL, rugby is completely based on shoulder to shoulder contact basically
You are watching professional players. They’re 6ft 4”, weigh 200 lbs and do 100 yds in 11 seconds. Amateurs don’t get tackled so hard or block with this impact. Club players are like anybody and don’t get hurt a lot. BTW some of these tackles are now illegal. Choking, kicking (people) , punching for example. Elbow in the face also.
Spot ON with "hit differently", that is the difference. In rugby there are laws to protect the hit, in NFL there are more concussions due to players leading with the head. Loved your reaction and great observations.
What you say about NFL players leading with the head is exactly the argument against helmets! Another point is that the vast majority of concussions are caused by the brain impacting the inside of the skull NOT a boot or shoulder impacting the outside of the skull...in other words rapid deceleration or whiplash causes concussion, and helmets don't reduce these forces...if any thing they accentuate them especially as regards whiplash (added weight - added force)
You should totally learn about the GOAT Jonah Lomu. He was a New Zealand all blacks player. I'm Australian, and he's still my favourite player. Unfortunately, he passed away very young due to a rare disease called nephrotic syndrome. He was never at 100% really, watch his tribute documentary Lord of the Wings called that because he played on the wing for New Zealand, and imagine if he'd never been sick...damn.😊
I am South African and after Jonah Lomu passed away, my 13 year old rugby mad son would say his prayers and say...." and God, please take care of Jonah Lomu."
Rugby as those who know is, “a savage game played by gentlemen”. I played for six years and it’s absolutely a wonderful game and when all said and done, win or lose; both sides celebrated a good game over pints of beer and camaraderie. I played second row in the scrum and even after nearly fifty years; I smile with all the good memories and friends I made. 🇨🇦🏉
It is true he was born in South Africa but totally allowed to play for Scotland and I would say the best try in this clip....... speaking as a Scot lol
@@PjRjHj Nah. We're keeping him. He's fun to watch at Murrayfield. I live close to the stadium and if I can hear the crowd with the windows closed, it's probably his doing :D
Right. They shouldn't include illegal tackle in these videos, or at least make a note that those tackles are illegal. We don't want to confuse potential new fans.
Rugby is a great sport, it teaches you respect, discipline, sportsmanship and true team bonding, having played Rugby through school from the age of 8, to club rugby into my late 20’s, exiting the game, having retained my good looks and all my own teeth, 😂😂…however my shoulder and knees, is another matter 😮😂😂
Mike, as an ex rugby player and school teacher from the UK. I applaud you for your accurate observation on the tackling differences. I am a looong time NFL fan, going back to my first Superbowl game and winners, the 1985 Bears starring Walter "Sweetness" Payton, Mike Singletary and William "The Fridge" Perry and one of my favourite coaches, Mike Ditka. The history lesson is just to point out I know both games intimately, so I can confidently state that I believe that NFL players seem to be just taught to hit as hard as possible without consideration for technique. So many tmes I see missed or poor tackles due to this approach. I know there are many examples of missed tackles in rugby as well, but most of these are due to the skills of the attacking players than to the poor technique of the defender. In rugby you ARE taught to tackle with your shoulder and even more specifically to tackle cheek to cheek. face to bum. i.e. if you tackle from the side with whichever shoulder will mean that your cheek will end up against the attackers backside, or small of back. This will rmainly esult in you the tackler landing on top of the attacking player due to their momentum taking them forward. If you don't do that there's a higher chance of injury as the player will in all likelyhood land on your head at speed, and a 200 to 300 lb man landing on your head isn't a good iidea. because you are taught that, you think about how you are going to make the tackle and soon you instinctively know the correct angle and height to take to tackle safely. A lot of the examples in this video were also poor tackling examples which is why they look so brutal. Ironically the one you slowed down as it seemed so hard and fast was probably the best technique out of all of them as if you do it correctly and you are facing a player, you again go in with your shoulder and here I will admit that I would always go in as hard as I could in the first few tackles and I would also try and get my shoulder to hit up into the solar plexus and come down onto the player in the same place and knock the breath out of him. Do this to a couple of players especially the biggest or fastest and your whole day becomes so much easier. I am 6ft 2 and even back in the 80's I wasn't always the biggest player on the pitch, so any psychological advantage helped. I can guarantee after that tackle the team in white would hot potato that ball all game, leading to mistakes and poor decision making. As hard as we all think we are, sometimes we make business decisions. On business decisions THE best ever player of either NFL or rugby to consistently cause players to make business decisions was New Zealand's Jonah Lomu , he made well regarded international players look like clowns or rag dolls including famously my England team in the 1995 Rugby World Cup semi-final. Jess if you want a classic game to watch that may be one, although it pains me to say so that day Jonah put the fear of God into 15 well respected and acomplished players. Also try and catch some of the ladies games as they are highly entertaining and it is wonderful to see them gaining more and more support and as in the mens game England and New Zealand are 2 of the best teams in the world .Try and watch some of their games and you won't be disappointed.
NFL hits are harder because of the stop start nature of the game. Players in the NFL have a couple of minutes to rest before the next player meaning the hits are more explosive. Still prefer rugby though.
you are literally delusional. the start and stop nature of NFL makes it less harder hits.. what will create more force on collision 1 team running at a static team or 2 teams running directly at each other. the fact rubgy is played by 2 opposiing teams running at each other and not like NFL where plays are made from a standstill. you can't even generate the force created in rugby plays by starting and stopping hence some of these big hits are when 2 teams collide, not one offence player just jumping at the defensive line.
Fun fact: the guy in red who you said was getting ragdolled is Mike Tindall, he's married to Queen Elizabeth II's oldest granddaughter/King Charles's niece; the Princess Royal's daughter Zara
To be fair, Rugby Union is a pretty complex sport and the ultimate team game. Many folks in rugby playing nations don't properly understand the rules and dynamics. I love it because it's so inclusive, there's a position in a rugby team to suit literally every physique, from the shorter and stockier types to the longer and thinner types.
Awesome video. Great to see more Americans watching rugby. You need to watch Cheslin Kolbe - The ultimate athlete. He plays for the 4 time world champions, the Springboks from South Africa. (Only team in the world to do so).
You can see here, especially in the slo-mo moments that it's not all about toughness and aggression..there's a lot of quickness of thought, speed and supreme athleticism in rugby.
Great Video you guys. Love your Content. The Michael Jordan of Rugby according to me is Cheslin Kolbe. Theres is a video called "The Ultimate Athlete | Is Cheslin Kolbe The Best Rugby Player In The World?" Unreal Athlete!
The one with the guy swinging the other around and over the sideline at 4:05 is a famous one known as the ragdoll tackle. It was a State of Origin game which is the highest quality of Rugby League.
In Rugby, a tackle above the shoulder it illegal and results in a penalty or worse. It's also very dangerous. Many of that sort of tackle here you didn't see them get penalized or even sent off.
I only played in school teams and obviously there were a few more rules we were not allowed to tackle above the waist. I still think of rugby players as modern day gladiators. It also brings out something primal in the spectators you can see how spectators at the area a could watch the gladiators fight
The gesture that amazed you is called a chistera, pronounce she-stare-at without the final t, it's very hard to perform it properly, and i have to agree, when it is, it's magnificient !!! The guy with the look is Sébastien Chabal, 1 of the best french player of the last 2 decades, a guy you don't want to mess with (obviously ^^). A french commercial slogan for the french beef compagny named Charral was "Charral, the meat is good", in the rugby it quickly became "Chabal, the meat is good" 😅 Another comment suggested you react to Nigel Owens, presumably the GOAT rugby's referee, i can only approve and suggest you just do that 😉 A mix of serious and fun like no other ! Thanks for the fun 👍 have a good day everyone 🖖
at the about the 4:06 minute mark, the two teams playing Queensland Maroons and NSW Blues. Have one of the biggest rivalry, so stuff like that are less common these days buts it still happens from time to time.
At 5:16, the trick was not that he simply didn't carry the ball into touch, but that he used his right foot to move the ball forward (if he had just fumbled and dropped the ball it would have been knocked-on and resulted in a scrum with the defenders getting the put-in)
We can see a kid from the age of 7; How he runs, how he falls, how he crashes without getting hurt. Rugby is really hard but much less brutal than you would perceive. Players are just built for it. BUT, when it comes to international games and especially the World Cup, players will put their lives on the line. I suggest you watch the 2019 World Cup Final between South Africa and England. You will enjoy that.
Notice how they often dive to the ground when scoring... The difference between a 'Try' and a US Football 'Touchdown' :- Touchdown - The player must touch the ground in the endzone, while he is touching the ball. Try - The ball must touch the ground, while the player is touching the ball. Which is why rugby players either dive to the ground, or put the ball down by hand - And US Football players often run through the endzone with the ball held high to celebrate.
as an australian who has played rugby league, rugby union and american football, you are correct about the difference in tackling styles. being padded up with a helmet you tend to smash a bit harder. i believe nfl teams are starting to employ rugby coaches to teach tackling techniques to reduce the risk of bad injuries.
From the age of 11 to 16 I played rugby union for my school first team. I remember in an away game taking a hit, I think I was about 14, and breaking my nose in three places, bending the cartilage down the middle and having 5 stitches in it. Eight weeks later I was back for the return game against the same team. We won both matches. From 16 to 30 I played rugby league for a local club and picked up some serious knocks. But as I’m from the north of England we’re made of steel so we brush it off and carry on.
I tell ye.. They are fast. There are guys that runs the 100m in just above 10seconds. And their bodies are freaking hard as a brick outhouse. You should look at pics of the players at the end of the 6 Nations tournament. It looks like they went through the battle of Stalingrad.
@RNTV liked the vid. I went straight to nest fights in state of origin history video from this. Two Australian states play rugby league against each other every year Queensland v New South Wales, and ifs always a very physical game as the rivalry is strong. Occasionally turns into a brawl which no one's condoning but its kinda fun to watch and the mic'd up ref's/umpires are good to watch. Recommend.
You talk about how bodies react when hit. In my experence all my injuries have come from not going 100% into things. Snapping my ACL playing touch rugby, dislocating my shoulder not going 100% into a tackle... harder you run the less you hurt.

That's true. You can fall asleep in the breaks in NFL which make it become boring
If I recall, the average live time of an American football game is about 10-15 minutes of actual play despite games lasting for hours on end. (And they say cricket is a long-winded, subdued affair, hahaha)
And of course, as rugby fans we know that is boring as our games are nigh-on constant action for 80 minutes excluding half time.

Super proud, thank you, one of the Clips is from my high School in Paarl South Africa. Indeed a crazy sport that is a religion over here!!!
Was going to make the same point
they need to be training better tackling because behind boxing NFL is the 2nd highest sports with players suffering from CTE
@@kylegrace4718 Look both rugby and American football (and boxing) are contact sports so the risks are never going to be completely eradicated but with training (and laws/regulations/rules) the risks can be reduced.
You guys seem to grasp the concept of the game more than others I’ve seen, good job. Well worth watching top tries and Nigel Owens referee videos
I am 44 years old, I have been playing Rugby for 41 years!
Played for 25 years. Portugal, England and Northern Ireland. Had to stop because of a knee injury. And still going back into the pitch every now and then :)
Check out Nigel Owens, a former referee, brilliant.

This makes NFL look like an afternoon tea...LOL!
The Six Nations starts on the 31st of January 2025. I'm sure there must be a sports channel in America that broadcasts it. Or there's the internet. Defo worth watching.

Another rugby video you should do is 10 Minutes of Nigel Owens being Nigel Owens. He's the best and wittiest rugby referee ever. See how he has those man-giants completely under his thumb.
I think thats one of the biggest differences.
There is a saying; Football (soccer) players spend 90 minutes pretending they are injured, Rugby players spend 80 minutes pretending they aren't...
American Rules players spend 60 minutes pretending they play 60 minutes.
There's also a saying: rugby fans can't go 5 minutes without mentioning football. Every video without fail the same comments 💤

I love both sports. NFL is a totally different proposition to Rugby Union (which I definitely prefer), once you get into the NFL though, the skills of the players are phenomenal too, just in a different subset from Rugby players.
These may well have been legal when they happened, the rules have been tightened over the years to protect the players
Jess the one you liked the most was a Scotland player scoring from behind the half way line against England, as a Scot very happy
Greetings from Scotland! I was born in South Wales and rugby was played in my school. I remember the day that the games teacher wanted to introduce us to football - we all sat on the side-lines and point blank refused to play it! So it was never "introduced" again! 😂
The best thing about rugby matches is that all the violence happens on the pitch during the game.
And that they stop every 5 seconds
I tried watching the Superbowl a few years ago. But I had to switch off after about 45 mins. It was so frustrating. They spend more time standing around talking, than they do playing. I found myself shouting at the TV (Hurry up! Just hurry up!). They played for 10 seconds. Then spent 2 mins talking about what to do next. No wonder the game takes 4 hours. I bet they play less than 1 hr. I'm really sorry, I gave it a shot. But never again. I thought Rugby and NFL were going to be similar. But they're completely different. One is a sport. The other is a social club.
Well said my friend.......also the continuity; No downs or whatever their called! (RL is bad enough).
My Tibia bone came out of my leg at 16, ending my career, which was looking promising for Wales. Shit happens.
You weren't playing for wales anyway😂
@@jikacemo 2 Months away from signing a club contract and had scouts watching. Decent scrum half m8.

I played for six years and it’s absolutely a wonderful game and when all said and done, win or lose; both sides celebrated a good game over pints of beer and camaraderie.
Check out what a rugby players cauliflower ear is... 😂😂
Still prefer rugby though.
i disagree totally, having played both, Rugby players hit harder
you are literally delusional. the start and stop nature of NFL makes it less harder hits.. what will create more force on collision 1 team running at a static team or 2 teams running directly at each other. the fact rubgy is played by 2 opposiing teams running at each other and not like NFL where plays are made from a standstill. you can't even generate the force created in rugby plays by starting and stopping hence some of these big hits are when 2 teams collide, not one offence player just jumping at the defensive line.
Best. Sport. Ever. Good times playing this at school.
Fun fact: the guy in red who you said was getting ragdolled is Mike Tindall, he's married to Queen Elizabeth II's oldest granddaughter/King Charles's niece; the Princess Royal's daughter Zara

No way was that Tindall.
Not a fact... it's Martyn Williams, you can tell that by looking at his face, and he has number 7 on his shirt and not 12/13.
Played this daily at school ahh the good times. Yes the grass tasted great by the way.

Most of that is the six nations … plus the internationals….
The gesture that amazed you is called a chistera, pronounce she-stare-at without the final t, it's very hard to perform it properly, and i have to agree, when it is, it's magnificient !!!

You need to check out the ladies rugby just recently USA🇺🇸 v ENGLAND 🏴 it is absolutely amazing to watch from both teams. 👍😊
Notice how they often dive to the ground when scoring... The difference between a 'Try' and a US Football 'Touchdown' :-
Touchdown - The player must touch the ground in the endzone, while he is touching the ball.
Try - The ball must touch the ground, while the player is touching the ball.
Which is why rugby players either dive to the ground, or put the ball down by hand - And US Football players often run through the endzone with the ball held high to celebrate.
6:27 "that was crazy". Scotland (Blue) scoring against England (White) in the oldest international rugby fixture in the World (started in 1887)
as an australian who has played rugby league, rugby union and american football, you are correct about the difference in tackling styles. being padded up with a helmet you tend to smash a bit harder. i believe nfl teams are starting to employ rugby coaches to teach tackling techniques to reduce the risk of bad injuries.

Hi friends , glad to see you watching more rugby
Saw on bumpersticker outside a bar where the local rugby clubs hang out......."Give Blood, Play Rugby"
You talk about how bodies react when hit. In my experence all my injuries have come from not going 100% into things. Snapping my ACL playing touch rugby, dislocating my shoulder not going 100% into a tackle... harder you run the less you hurt.
