So you used a flex coupler to connect your sewage drain to the swiss madison supplied drain piece? I've been having issues dry fitting a direct connection with my abs so I emailed support and they told me its PVC. Seems odd to have black pvc, so now I'm not sure what direction I want to go.
Its been a while since i looked at all of this. I can’t remember if the instructions included all the details or not. But I followed that and other European standard installs for wall hung. Flex couplers can be used for all kind of connections going from different materials.
great video! i am installing the same one. Do I need to use the pipe thread sealant on top of a teflon tape, or it's not necessary. I am using brass drop ear elbow?
@@fullmetaltoolbox1412 thank you for the reply! Yeah, I want to make sure there are no issues down the road, so definitely will use some thread sealant, is that a correct one to use? www.amazon.com/Permatex-80633-Thread-Sealant-PTFE/dp/B000BKEBT0/ref=asc_df_B000HBM49W/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312141533517&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6007662750497373217&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014485&hvtargid=pla-569800664083&ref=&adgrpid=61941536837&th=1
Say you needed to run the waste pipe to the side (with some inclination) could it be done? Does the metal frame provides clearance and the system allows for the pipe to be “turned”?
Very helpful video. Thanks for posting! Quick question, what are some ways or things you can do to protect from future leaks during this install? Can you use red guard, or ditra or any specific material and if so how would you be able to use it in making sure any future leaks have minimal damages around this area since tank and plumbing is built in.
@@fullmetaltoolbox1412 awesome thank you. So did you just apply the red guard directly to the wood and subfloor plywood or any thing on top of wood then red guard to that? Im installing same system but want to make sure i avoid any future leaks by doing all i can before hand while possible.
What is the height of the drain pipe on the carrier from center to finished floor ? I have enclosed a 3 ft x 4 ft covered porch on a concrete slab . I want to bring the 3" waste pipe in from the side wall just behind the carrier and t off for a small sink . Will probably use the 2 x 6 carrier mounted on 2 x 4'wall that I will build out in front of existing 2x4 insulated exterior wall 5.5 inches to simulate the required 2x6 wall and notch between the two wall studs to fit the 3 inch waste line . I need to go through the side wall to avoid chopping the slab and going through the sill plate . Do you think this is possible ?
riviecc the carrier is meant to be adjusted for height. Most bowls 🚽 are set for ADA compliance. Which I believe is around 17-19 inches from finishing floor. You are able to set a height lower and higher to your liking. And I would say you would really just have to see how much clearance your slab has to see if it works as u intend.
@@fullmetaltoolbox1412 Thanks for the reply . The most critacal measurement i need is the hieght of the 3 inch pipe above the finished floor where it enters the wall hung toilet say at the lowest 17 inch mounting height . Thanks . Any thing elese that I would have to purchase besides carrier .toilet and flush valve besides standard plumbing fittings ?
rigel orozco hello, to be honest i am not entirely sure. I would imagine just the smaller framing. I think one measurement (front lip) for the down pipe also changes.
wow what a mess i couldnt work like that it would drive me crazy. Good install i am going to get one do you know if i can go not down buff off to the side with the waste pipe use a right angle to my exsisting bath room downs stairs thanks
This isn’t a mess. Its demo from another room. Not all locations are the same. You work at the stages as they are presented. And I think you are allowed to install the waste pipe at a 45 deg down. I saw a few years back an Europe installed that way. Not sure a 90 deg would be much different if you hav a good sweep installed. But you would have to confirm it would work for your application.
Great video! I installed the same exact carrier but have drywall on the wall. My toilet flexes like crazy and is moving the drywall. The frame feels really sturdy. Did you tile over the backer board? Have you ever installed drywall instead?
Riki Patel hello, i will try to upload a short video of my toliet installed. I have never used drywall as this was my first carrier. I wanted to be able to access behind wall fully so i did wood over the backer board. If feels sturdy but has not been put through more than 10 sit downs at the moment
@@fullmetaltoolbox1412 that looks great!! I like the finish. I wish I would've installed plywood behind it now. I put a nice micro cement on the wall and would have to tear it out now.
Riki Patel thanks. The area around the wood will be tile (12x24). I am putting up more board in the next week or so. The wood panel will protrude maybe half an inch or less. Hopefully it looks as good as I imagined in my head. Basically free handing everything one step at a time.
The niciest thing about wall hung toilets is that there's no nasty wax ring to deal with, which means no possibility of leaks on the floor down below.
Would love to view and learn from the second video. Great presentation so far!
Thanks for the video! I just bought a 2x4 system and the pictorial directions are vague. Your directions are great!
Thank yoi

great vid I have to install 5 of these the instructions I have don't say squat THANK YOU

What kind of angle are you talking? From what I remember on this frame it allows 45 deg left or right from the traditional vertical down pipe
@@fullmetaltoolbox1412 45 can do ;) thx

Hey brother, how did you install the toilet because the hole is tiny, I’m having trouble.
Paulo Mendes what whole? And which carrier are you referring? The 2x4 or 2x6
FullmetalToolBox 2x4 and the side of the toilet has a small hole but the manual doesn’t give a lot
Paulo Mendes are you referring to the holes that the bolt goes on to tighten down the toliet ? U have to use a wrench 🔧
