    Excellent instructions. Guess I won’t be making one anytime soon as I recently gave my table saw to my son. He was driving 30 miles one way to use it fairly often and I didn’t have any current projects requiring a TS. I’ve also given him a miter saw, jig saw, band saw, sander, Dremel kit, and lots of other tools. He will get it all one day so why not let him have it while he can get the most benefit from it. I am retired and not doing as much woodworking as I used to do.

    My favorite is when some couch potato sees your tools and says if I ad those tools I would build stuff to. I started in my dad’s garage. I had to work when he was gone because he would try to take over and do whatever I was doing. We lived next to the woods and when he came up the drive I was out the man door and gone before his truck stopped. Self defense is a virtue. My dad and I just didn’t get along till I finally got big enough to stand up to him and tell him to bring it on. After that we got along.

Not sure if you mention picking boards without knots is more important then straight boards when cutting them up. I'm sure this imformation is well known although helpful to few is it's purpose. Do you think it’s possible to use ratchet straps that are stapled (with a 1/4” stapler) to some slats and hung across a structure to make an adjustable hammock-like lawn chair?
    Tightening the straps would make the chair flatter.
    You could detach the straps and slats and roll them up to store in the winter and leave the structure outside.

I don't know if that's any cheaper, probably more expensive, but you wouldn't have to rip the narrower strips. It also gets down to where you could probably build the chair with just a circular saw and straight edges. Forgive my ignorance here, I'm pretty new to woodworking, but if your table saw fence is straight, parallel to the blade and the blade is 90° to the table what's the purpose of the level? What am I missing here?

    • @burnstockwoodworking
      @burnstockwoodworking  6 месяцев назад +1

      No worries at all! So if I run the board through the table saw using only the fence it would still reference the board edge as the guide and would not give me a straight edge. By using the level and running it through at the same time with the board I use the straight level as my reference / guide which gives me a straight edge on my board. It's basically jointing the wood without a jointer.

    Can’t be a 2’ cutoff because the blade will eat away wood with each cut, so will lose like an 8th of an inch. New woodworkers will be really confused when they measure, unless you’re cutting down the board again.

      I've never had a board be 8' ( unless you get wall studs 92 5/8 those are on the money) they are always 3/8 to 1/2 longer factory ends aren't always square.

    Man, I bet if you made templates, you could sell just the templates without having to assemble anything! But, that's just me thinking how to capitalize from a good idea like you have here. You could hire it out to someone with big C&C's and have all your curves absolutely perfect.
    Thank me later ;)
