Spatial Design in Kyoto; Japanese Spatial Design in Historical Spaces

In this lecture, Professor Yasuhiro Kiyomizu of the Department of Design, School of Fine Arts Tokyo University of the Arts, will explain the unique concepts related to Japanese space. Focusing on the key words of “Boundaries”, “Circular Movement”, “Metaphor”, “Depth”, taking shrines, Japanese gardens, and tea rooms as examples, the lecture aims to provide a deeper understanding of Japanese spatial culture by learning about the meaning and role of each of these keywords.
