Just finished it again (haven't played it since PSP) and was floored by how much more I care about Aerith and Zack than I do Cloud and Tifa after twenty odd years of living with these characters. This ending is gut wrenching.
This is without a doubt my favorite game of all times without hyperbole. The story is amazing, meaningful, and heartbreaking, and Zack Fair is one of the best video game characters ever.
Fighting all those robots 2:30:00 after the wave of genesis copies wasn't hyperbole? Story is better as a cutscene vid than game, let alone hard mode damage sponges with normal hell thundaga wins like Ness pk fire spam lol so fast and debuffs with deadly damage.
The ending is probably the most saddest endings of any game I've played. I never finished the last chapter of the game, I got stuck before I even entered Gongaga for some reason. Never witnessed Zack's death when I was a child and I was playing this on the PSP as my first final fantasy game I sunk hours into.
I'm glad they gave this game a modern day remaster and despite my preferences for the old voices of Sephiroth,Genesis,Angeal and Zack. These new voices have grown on me (Especially Zack's in this game) and the game looks promising with the visuals over all in my opinion.
I agree that the graphics look nice. It holds up well against the awesome visuals of the FF7 Remake, which is great to see. Sadly, it doesn't seem to me like they put as much effort into the voice acting department. I don't have a problem with the casting choices, but the direction on a lot of the lines feels kind of stiff in my opinion. The emotions don't come through as much.
The Turks didn't make it in time, and eventually Cissnei left Shinra because of what the company did to Cloud and Zack. She then lived in Gongaga to watch over Zack's parents.

Okay... I'm gonna be honest here. What. The. Hell. HAPPENED?! The first remake was so good. How did they f*ck this one up so badly?! All the lines are so flat and devoid of feelings. The story of this game relies almost entirely on emotional impact. For as much as it brings the funny moments, it's fundamentally a story about loss and tragedy. But it feels like there's no love or soul put into this remake. Which really sucks because I think that FF7 Remake was really good, especially in the voice acting department. For video games, or anything animated, voice acting is really important for conveying emotion. If none of the VAs sound like they care about what they're reading, why should the audience? This isn't directed at the VAs personally, I just think that this whole project was mismanaged.
This isn't a remake. Its a remaster of the PSP game from 2007. The bones and structure haven't changed at all, it basically just has nicer textures. The second part of FF7 Remake is coming out in February
I have no earthly idea. I thought this remake was supposed to explain shit, not be a line-for-line copy of the original. At least the FF7 Remake actually took some liberties. This is just... boring. And confusing. What was the point of this if they weren't going to tie it into the end of FF7?
@olivialeger3647 after looking into it, i think Genesis will be coming back in Rebirth. I recognized a voice during a trailer and it gave one of those cloaked people a bit too much screen time

Like watching the old 'full movie' before SE claimed it off YT!! But this time its wacky (Angeal does not look like Jon Travolta this time...). All and all I think they really misunderstood what seven fans wanted this time around. Remake didn't do it and neither did this. If this is an attempt at advent guarde game making or some shit they really pissed off a lot of good hearted kids that now are jaded adults after waiting half their lifetimes.
Man I’m so glad I watched instead of playing this game. I’d have been livid to have to suffer through the gameplay for such a bad story, probably one of the worst video game scripts of all time, and shit voice acting. Having Zack have copy paste scenes of Cloud in the original like the train scene, meeting Aerith in the EXACT SAME WAY has to be the laziest thing ever. Angeal was almost likable but was a walking contradiction. Genesis was one of the most annoying FF characters I have experienced. There is so little that is redeemable about this game lol.
It was a letdown and disappointment. Just as I feared all along. As others has said, Square Enix can't make heads or tails of its own rpg-series that made them a household name.

They are bleeding cash for this?? I could care less how it looks or its pre rendered videos. It was more of the same slock found in FF7 Remake. Another slice of disappointment salami when we know they are capable of doing better. Now even that comes into question.

Yikes.. I never played the original so I had overinflated expectations for this. I played the first party of ff7’s remake, and thought many of the missions were utterly boring, but this is worse. Even the dialogue is this game is worse. Choppy conversations. Zack and Cloud are both dullards…
Mf reunion is just an upscaled ver. Of a 2007 game tf you expected? The fact that somewhat emulated what 7remake feels like is already impresive enough
It worked very well with the more stylized model, but they didn't change it to accomodate for the more realistic models, like for the faces... It's not cringe, but i feel like it could've been touched upon aswell

BTW, If you watch the video at 1.25 speed, the dialogue flows so much better.

The creator said you still need to play the original 7 because ff7 remake is like a new timeline that is merging with ff7 original story from 1996
No disrespect to all the voice actors who put hours of work into this, but GODDAMMIT it just really doesn't hit as hard as the original cast.

For a game made in the early 2000’s, it was “good enough.” They didn’t really change the acting in the remaster - though the voices are mostly new.
