  • UPDATE as of DECEMBER 14,2022
Ford is now claiming that they are not responsible for taxes or shipping costs in the refund. has anyone dealt with this. Seems Ford is doing whatever they can to not pay even under the service bulletin. To date I have only received half of the cost as a refund!
UPDATE as of DECEMBER 2, 2022.
As per the service bulletin listed below - Ford has approved my refund IN FULL.
Please if this has affected you, reach out to your local Ford dealer (even if you have already had the repair performed)
UPDATE as of NOV 10, 2022.
Thank you again to the individual who brought this to our attention.
It appears that Ford is now offering a one-time replacement of these engines at no charge and extending the warranty on the 1.5 Eco boost to 7 years or 84,000 miles. If the vehicle has already exceeded either the time or mileage limits, this no-cost, one-time repair will
last through November 30, 2022. Also if you have had the repair done already, you have until NOVEMBER 30, 2022 to make a claim!
Here is the link to the service bulletin: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/202...
Also, check-out the "Ford Boss Me" video explaining the service bulletin. This guy is very knowledgeable when it comes to Ford vehicles: • PSA!! 1.5L Ecoboost Co...
    Good Luck all!!!
    Hi all,
I’m sharing this video today to explain a terrible product Ford puts out these days.
As mentioned in my video this will be my last Ford.
The way they treat their customers is terrible.
If this has happened to you, please contact Lief Cabraser Hermann & Bernstein law firm as they are handling the class action lawsuit. Let’s get the word out in hope we can get reimbursed for this.

If you think toyota handles boost thats funny, theres a reason why ford and toyota use to use mostly only NA engines, its because they actually had a chance to make it past the warranty period and when they did they switched to all these turbo motors knowing it would kill the engines faster, aka making money replacing motors every 50k is more worthy then making a engine that a customer could be happy with. Car companies use to warranty engines for 100k miles/ 10 yrs but now their all mostly 3/4 yrs and 36,000-48,000 miles. Hmm makes ya think 🤔

  • @ATSNorthernMI
    @ATSNorthernMI Год назад +28

It seems that the engineering team just didn't know what each other were doing and assumed botching and adding things to the original design somehow made it better. I'm sure they had nothing there before and had sleeves cracking and then decided to cut a slit in the block to help get coolant between the sleeves which fixed the cracking but then introduced head gasket failure. To remedy that, they drilled a hole into the sleeve between the cylinders in question and I'm sure this is going to cause clogs within the coolant system that will plug the passages leading to the cracking issue. These are all open deck engines because of the power these small packages can produce, causes more heat and pressure from boost. I would be afraid to put a tune of these engines to make a lot of power. Older honda's used this design but you could boost a stock motor so high, it produces upwards of 6 to 700hp and do it all day long but a stock ford ecoboost can't even do its factory rated power without blowing out.

Y'all folks are SO obtuse about who is responsible at Ford. Try the "bean counters" that CONTROL the purse strings, not the engineers who are just DOING THEIR JOBS. This is the way American industry works. Good example is Briggs & Stratton, they USED to make "bullet proof" engines, NOW they use PLASTIC camshafts. This is NOW the AMERICAN WAY of manufacturing! Planned obsolescence so you keep buying NEW every 3 or 4 yrs!!

Hondas didn't had direct injection for a long time. Or turbos. When they introduced them their engines started to fail. In the classic setup of wannabe american racer, you can just dump half a tank of gas in each cylinder to cool it. You don't care about emissions or fuel consumption ... you want to spit flames to prove Americans can't win any race that lasts more then 5 minutes. At 5 and 30 seconds the pistons are on the tarmac and it's ok cos the gas tank is empty anyway. The proof that drugs are a problem in US is you randomly recommend the 90s aspirated engines in a car that's made two decades later. Cos the 1.5 turbo Honda that is same year as this Ford is probably Fiat level of engine reliability. Ford messed it up here but so did many. Including Honda. My advice is don't buy first generation of a product. Any product. Wait for second generation let the suckers do the testing with their own money and time and buy later

Thanks for the video. I was looking at the newer Ford Escapes with 1.5L engines. I do not like what I'm seeing. I'm not a fan of these smaller Eco boost engines but my current 2013 Ford Escape with 1.6L engine has 143,500 miles on it and still running strong. It overheated once last summer (2022) when a small hose coming from the back of the engine to the coolant tank broke and lost most of the coolant. I replaced that hose and it's been running fine. The only other thing I did is replaced the valve cover gasket at 138K miles a few months ago. It can still pull hard when you step on the gas. I hate to part with it but I'm not sure how much longer it will last. So, I'm in the market for a new commuter vehicle. I just do not trust the small 3-cylinder engines. My 2009 F-150 with a V-8 is as solid as ever with no issues. Because of that, I'm sticking with Ford.

I left the business in 2018 mainly due to Ford’s absolutely poor product designs, starting around 2013 or so. I did want to say, I cannot believe, with only 22k miles and only 3 weeks out of factory power train, Ford refused to at least work with you on a repair. As I said, I was in the business for over 15 years and have seen Ford make MANY “after warranty adjustments” on vehicles that were way more out of warranty than what yours is. I know this video is over a year old, so I’m curious if you ever got any satisfaction out of ford because it is unheard of, at least here in the Midwest, for a Ford dealership to tell you to pack sand, with that low of mileage and only 3 weeks out of 5/60 power train.

When Ford refused to intervene with my local dealership over a faulty oxygen sensor that I complained about from the get-go on a Ranger pickup, I swore off Fords forever. When I bought the POS, I wanted to buy American and buy local, both decisions I regret greatly. The new vehicle purchase offered free oil changes every 3,000 miles. The vehicle would lose power at highway speeds and I complained about the issue at every oil change. The morons in the shop would take it up the 35mph road behind the dealershipand return telling me there was no problem. I repeated the complaint at every oil change with the same lousy lip service. The problem got so bad I had to limp the vehicle home at 35mph from 200 miles away on a Labor day weekend. Again, gee, no problems here. Lo and behold on my 16th oil change or 51,000, the heavens opened and allowed the service department to recognize a bad oxygen sensor. They then, rather than apologizing for being too stupid to diagnose a simple problem much earlier, spat in my face with a $72 charge because my warranty expired at 50,000 miles despite my repeated complaining since the purchase. I called Ford and rather than admonish the dealership or offer to refund the charge merely did more lip service and told me they regretted that that dealership acted that way. Ford is a very stupid company that relies on pigheaded generations of Ford buying families to stay in business. See those slick multimillion dollar commercials they run all the time? Imagine losing a first time buyer of a new Ford over 72 freaking dollars. The vehicle was a lemon, the $2,000 Mitsubishi transmission failed like clockwork every 60,000 miles (60 and 120 thousand miles for me and 180 thousand miles after a friend bought it from me). Now I bash Ford every chance I get. You'd have to be an imbicile to limit your car buying to American manufacturers that continue to behave this way.

Not anymore, the American companies have shot themselves in the foot too many times and most of us are done with them. I'd be willing to bet that Ford and GM are bribing congress with untold riches to keep the Chinese out of the US for as long as possible because if the Chinese EV cars get imported into North America, it's all over for Ford and GM - well the GM that we are familiar with, not the GM already owned by China.

You can buy a Toyota if it makes you feel better but they did the same thing to me over a 2012 Camry slipping transmission. I was well under the mileage but 30 days over the time and they denied the claim. The dealer said we are replacing 3 of these a week! Sold that car to CarMax and moved on. Will I buy another Toyota? sure for the most part they are good cars and all car manufactures are the same. (Only pay if they have to) I do agree that the Echo-burst engines are crap for the most part. I had a 2019 Escape and dumped it as soon as I learned of this problem.

Another happy Ford customer. The vehicle has only 22,000 miles on it and Ford won't do anything for him? They know the engine design/head gasket was a built in defect. I would go with Toyota products in the future. Good vehicles that last. Plus Toyota stands behind their product unlike Ford.

2016 1.6L same problem at 106k. Dealer ignored my complaints for 20 months. I was told we cannot replicate the problem , bring it in when it breaks down . The coolant leaked into Cylinder 4 misfires .
No evidence of leaks , no blue smoke, no oil issue. Replaced trans at 72k,
Total BS no offer to assist with rebuild

I have a 2008 Ford Edge. The PTU & rear differential does not have a drain plug. I have a 2018 Rav4 and it has a drain plug. In order to get this Edge to 200k miles it has cost me $10k. A lot of the problems were attributed to a poor design in my opinion. I would stick with Toyota they might cost a little more in the front end & with other makes you will pay for it in the back end.

Brother Look at a Honda Crosstour to replace this POS escape.
Specifically the 2.4 models. the v6 is nice but its a timing belt not a chain.
it will last you well into the future. As with all Hondas you only have to worry about oil changes, batteries, and cv axles.

That has to be under warranty with that low mileage. My 2016 Fusion with the same motor made it to 86k miles until someone spun out in front of me in the snow in 2019 and I broadsided them. Car did a great job of protecting me. If you think Chevy is better, read up on the Equinoxes with the Chinese built engines that burned a quart of oil every 1,000 miles, and GM said that was "normal"

Omg…thank you for this video. I have a 2017 Ford Escape . I. Had 50,000 miles on it and my warranty was out 5 months. I had to have new engine. Ford paid 4,000 and I paid 2,000. They also had to put a new transmission. I will never buy another Ford vehicle, never!!!! I hope the class action lawsuit wins and I can be paid back what they should have paid on my engine. Also now I wonder what else may go wrong with my Ford SUV!!

We purchased a 2018 escape. I intentionally got the 2.5 l naturally aspirated engine...old school. Like the car. Unfortunately to get that engine you had to forget some nice features like heated seats, because that engine was offered in the base S model only 😔
