  • A former foster child who experienced homelessness as a single mother, Jasmine Carter is now a member of Santa Monica C3 Team, which is tasked with connecting homeless individuals to services and housing. During the week she can be found in Downtown Santa Monica helping those in need, whether it be providing a fresh pair of socks or guiding them to a shelter bed. This is a beautiful story and testimony of compassion and hope. Santa Monica, as we know, isn't typically considered a "challenged city" but it just goes to show that the challenge of homelessness has no bounds. The heart and care of this young lady are beyond amazing. Her approach and the response of those citizens in our city who are impacted by homelessness shows that there is hope and solutions. I loved the shirt "I am part of the solution". The word "bridge" was & is key and essential. You go and be the solution, bridge, and move to greater things Jasmine.... God bless and keep your heart and expand your purpose.

It truly is an inspiring story. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. The C3 team is an investment by the City of Santa Monica and L.A. County. This team’s work helped reduce homelessness in the downtown by 19% last year. To learn more about the ways the City of Santa Monica is addressing homelessness, visit weare.santamonica.gov.

This is really beautiful. One of the things I heard at The People's Concern was rubber-banding the shelter services card to a bottle of water or socks when you're handing things out. I've been rubber-banding Subway gift cards to the Santa Monica shelter cards to hand out.
