This is just superb, been searching for "my bicycle chain fell off" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Viyackson Yenacob Review - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my buddy got great success with it.
Good guide! It's true that not everyone has a garden or a big toilet for bike washing. In order to prevent making a mess in my home, I have employed a dry clean method. First, leave the bike to dry up completely. It's no good to deal with wet mud. Cover the floor with a few sheets of big newspaper. Use several brushes to wipe out all sand and mud. A bigger brush for everything except the drivetrain, a smaller brush for gaps and hidden areas. Then another one for the drivetrain. You can also use a vacuum pump with pipe brush to give a final clean up. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly clean with WD40. There are also some disinfecting wipes available in supermarket. 3 sheets can be adequate for a roadbike. Finally, wrap up the newspaper and dispose. If still necessary, a wet bike wash after these procesess can avoid making a mess of your home. Cheers.
SickBiker....thank you for some great tips! I would like to suggest wrapping some type of adhesive tape around the metal part of the cleaning brush. This way you reduce the risk of scratching paint. Otherwise, a great cleaning method you have shown. Thanks again brother.
+SickBiker I also wrote it on Facebook, but if you wax your bike you will not have to clean it anymore! This is because wax repeal water so the dirt will not be able to stick on it. If it stick as soon as it dries up the dirt will falls down leaving the bike clean with no effort! The same is true for the chain (I use paraffine wax and mineral oil (AKA paraffine oil 8 to 10 carbon alkane) 35/65 approximately).
tomuno1 This just not work as you may think. Bike wax doesnt help with any dirt, even on a roadbike doesnt works and after rainy ride there are lots dirt spots.
I am sorry, but is almost 4 months that I ride my MTB every day, no matter the conditions, in either parks or streets. I am not saying that is shining as just washed, but there is no accumulation of dirt and what it remain is only the sign of the water drops where the dry, and that is it. For me that is perfect, since it look clean (not shiny) and I save the time of washing it! However, it take almost twice the time of a single washing, but I think that is well worth it. For the drivetrain: in the last three weeks I have done 2 races of 8 miles each one for a total of 16 miles in dirty and muddy condition plus my everyday commuting of about 8 miles, so I am around 180 miles total and the chain is still as smoth as when new. Sincerely, I am very impressed about it and I will never go back to any oil based lubricant, which they attract dirt, they make your hands black as soon as you touch them, and they were the component faster. Last tips, I have switched from grease to 'wax/paraffine oil 65/35' in all my bike bolts, which keep them clean and quiet. As an example, my pedals with the factory grease lasted 1 week of street riding before starting creeking, and when I removed them the grease was already black. With the wax is more than a month that I am riding it and no noise so far. I hope you will switch as well because it make the life so much easier
I just tried the soapy water bottle tip on my balcony this morning, and saved so much time ! Very useful when you live on the third floor like me ! I usually have to go up and down the stairs 2-3x with the bike, the hot water bucket, the rack and the accessories, and I end up cleaning it less often...
Love your videos, keep it like that man! One question, what´s the little think that it´s over your crankset (it says Sram and the number 1) my bike has the same thing but I sill don´t know what it is, in case that you don´t know which thing I mean, you can see it on the minute 4:15 next to the bottle cage (left) thanks man
Hi! Youre going to have so much fun! The tires wil last a long time ass long ass you just dont get a flat. Also Try to run you're tires around 30psi for maximum grip/Durability!
I just take the wheels off and put my bike in the bathtub and use the hand-held 🚿 I also use a 🪣 of hot soapy 💧 🚰 , the necessary brushes and rags to wash the bike, and, degreaser for the chain. Works great for me.
Is there any issue with only towel drying off the drivetrain degreaser, rather than rinsing it clean with water prior to applying chain lube? I realize you are inside, but maybe use your chain cleaning tool filled with fresh water a few times, then towel dry.
I always clean my MTB without water, I've peviously destroyed all of my bearings spraying my bike with a garden hose. I just take an old T-Shirt or towel and rub the dirt off, but it only works when the dirt is dry. Only on the drivetrain I use a little bit of water.
Ah perfect just rode my dirt racing bmx through a ton of mud wanted to ride more on dry dirt but this stupid snow Also I have a 2013 shitty Walmart bike 1 speed with 30 inch wheels and I'm planning on turning it into a mountain bike any tips on how i can put in a rear suspension?
Usually i put my road bike in the bathroom, 1) spray it from shower, 2) use liquid soap and hard side of old scotch brite sponge to clean dirt, 3) spray again, 4) use liquid soap and soft part of sponge, 5) repeat other side, 6) dry it. Usually it takes no more than 10 minutes. Well, road bikes are easier to clean, so mtb may be quite slower.
You should get protection for the frame, and cleaning the bike with the rag like you did, will sand down the paint job. I recommend getting Allmountain style frame guards, and Allmountain style fork guards, and were not possible use 3m automotive vinyl wrap. I use Muc off brushes to clean my bike with Muc Off cleaner. if needed I use Muc off degreaser of the chainring and cassette. as for the chain I rarely clean it as it never gets super dirty, as I lube it and wipe off any dirt. I have don't sue a chain cleaning device, but Some times I use finish line grunge brush.
@@fernieceron755 i Hope that is a joke og you dry it with a rag after a ride 1 you wil get som many scratches its like sand paper 2 ut wil take a sett long time 3 it wil nevet get clean
It works somewhat but it took me around 2 hours(well it was even dirtier than the bike in the video). But I still think you need to wash with running water in the end to get rid of the soap, especially in the brakes and chain. The good think is of course that you dont have to deal with the mud and sand at your bathtube.
Oh god, that’s such a pain in the back. I’ve only ever cleaned my bike in doors on my apartment & I can honestly say out doors with more space & running water is much better, easier & faster.
my tyres have mud on them from a year ago.. ive just neglected cleaning them. i clean the drivetrain and brakes and everything important, but comestics, i dont care. and damn this mud doesnt want to come off xD
So in my apt I take my bike to basement carpark and remove all the big stuff. Then I put into my condo shower spray with muc off, let sit and spray with shower. The problem with your scenario is leaving all that chunky mud on bike, you have to remove it one way or another before bringing into apt, car washes, park hose there's always some covert bike cleaning option etc. Your method is wayyy too much work, in addition your inevitably going to leave micro scratches due to caked on dried mud.
It should be mentioned that wiping the oil immediately after applying it defeats the purpose. You should let it sit for an hour or two before wiping. And even then just wipe the sides of the chains, as the most important thing is that the rollers are oiled, so you never want to wipe the top and bottom. Not to mention that your method for applying it is extremely wasteful.
I think most people clean their bikes in the shower or bathtub in the winter. I think this the cog design on the SRAM cassette is good, easy to clean. I will have to get some floor protection, I currently have Muc off bike mats, but they wear out way too fast.
can u guys reccomemd any tips? I took my bike to a trail and didnt clean it after. Now there is dried whitish mud or dirt all over the tires - wall - rims. Been washing it for weeks and doesnt come off. Any tips to remove it quick?
I like most of your video but it's too much, take the bike in the shower and spray it. Your bicycle is not an archaeological find to rub it with a brush :)
Why didn't you just remove the dirt first with a hose spray then try removing the mud with your finger while you spray it with water? The sand there might scratch your paint.
Car detailing tip ...get some electrical tape , as u use on your bar tape , and wrap it around the metal part of your brush , because every time you hit the metal part of the brush on your bike paint...ouch ..
Guys, do not spray this thing all over the bike - it will mean zero brakes. It will make your bike shiny, but use it with a rag AFTER the cleaning.
Which "thing" are you referring to? The soapy water? Should you spray it on the chain and the derailleur?

Even if somebody doesn't have a garden, isn't it better to take two buckets outside and wash the bike on the street?

Great, practical video for those living in the city! Super neat and minimalist in the resources you use. Thanks so much.
I'm so impressed, you are so fucking patient and meticulous. Great job, really clean :)

Thank you bro!!!! I have a mountain bike really dirty.....now I can clean this thing with ur idea😊😊😊😊😊😍😍
I am an INDIAN and understand your language and i love you language & your videos.
Inside it's sooo complicated. I would have to repaint the wall every time if i would do this :D
Sometimes I put shine on the tire walls for the look to pop.
sometimes i even polish my bike
I usually wait one day until the dirt has dried. Then I take a dry brush and take everything off, vaccumclean and done ^^

It seems you take care of your bike so great, its so fantastic, nice work
Is that suspension setup common, the forks look weird that way
that fork is actually the less common design. U will see it 99% in XC races, it is supposed to be lighter or somethink.
Callum it’s supposed to be lighter and stiffer yet the oil constantly keeps the stanchions slick while upside down
A very informative and clear video. Thank you.
Nice Tips....Any ideas how to extend the life of Tires ? How to Prevent the Rubber gets Dry. ....Any Products ?
Great vid👍
I had no idea USD forks are a thing on mtb.
Sweet Merida ❤️
I just bought a Mountain Bike last month I want the tires to last me a long time. I know the Bike chain need to be cleaned daily.

Your bike isn't a delicate fossil..
You can use a stiff brush to quickly remove the large dirt.
616Haggard 😂😂😂 well said
Use forkboost made by WPL for the rear shock
what a symphony...
Can you cosider to add a little bit of accoustic foam into your studio? it would helped a lot...
so you clean and reuse the mat on the floor?

That was detailed as it gets.
Amazing job, well done!
Nice bike! ☺️
Any recommendation of good music?;). Really nice video
what is brunox deo? Oil? thx. nice job. i have to clean my bike outside, can't track that dirt inside.
I'm using Gear Floss to clean the cassette.
First time seeing a chain cleaner...that looks like life there
There was some movie making trickery used in while cleaning the cassette :)
10 out of 10 for attention to detail... tea and music... Yes!
Thank you Sick Biker. I only wish I'd seen your video earlier today before I washed my bike and created a mess.

Can someone tell me is primus htc 2.0 is mtb
Better go out and clean your bike with water and soap. :)
Did you use wet or a dry rag?
I have a question............won't the metal parts like the screw and drivetrain rust from the water?
not if you dry it after cleaning

A good bike doesn’t rust dat easy dust dry of the chain
I use my car shampoos like Meguiar or Duragloss that contains wax. Very effective and not very harsh for the frame like dish wash soap's.
Your cycle was awsome
Will it rust if the chain gets wet?

whats brunox?
I didn't like actually the idea cleaning a bike like this. This may cause some damages on the paint
