Nigel Lush in a sub series with a former past of a world built with characters unique to it instead of from other Mario games, it definitely is something to be pointed out in the sheer amazing ness of the reference
@Nigel Lush Since when did the mainline Mario games consist of mostly Toads? 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, 3D Land/World, and Odyssey barely had Toads lmao. Even the NSMB series didn't have that many toads, Wii and U were the most prominent but that's only 2 games

I've played every game in the PM series. Origami King is a phenomenal game that brings together elements from each era of the franchise, and creates something new. The massive connected world, the characters, the exploration, the story/writing, the graphics, the collectibles, the music, the real-time combat sections, the bosses, the dungeons...there is SO much to love in this game. it BLOWS the other recent entries in the series out of the water, and its not close. i haven't put it down since it came out. Its very very cool

I agree, I really like it. The combat is pretty bad though. Other than Bobby, the partners haven't really done it for me. I still just miss TTYD. I hope the they go back or just create a brand new mario rpg.
i can't get enough of this game. not quite a return to form but if you look at it from a different angle it starts to feel like the good old days with the partners, story and humor, the overworld and the strategic battles. not exactly the same, but close enough to remind me of it.

I actually love the way the bosses are designed in this game. I don't know about everyone else, but turning school/office supplies into monsters and weapons was something I did a LOT as a kid. Heck, I made my pencils and pens fight in a full on war against each other.
It's like Super Smash Bros. but with stationary.
The bosses are actually based on things that you CAN'T use in origami, like colored pencils, scissors, tape...

I know I’m late but THIS GAME IS A LEGITIMATE MASTERPIECE. I’ve never been so sad about finishing a game. The music was incredible. There are so many hilarious moments and I even cried about ‘Bhomas’ for longer than I’d like to admit. I’m just completely blown away. Thank you to the devs because they really outdid themselves here. 10/10 and probably my 2nd favorite game of all time 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It's the only time in the franchise she is a "villain". And even if some ennemies like Magnus Von Grapple 2.0 or Gloomtail were just swap colors, they remained varied in their fight mechanics and weren't limited to classic enemies of the Mario universe known for years or decades as the Koopalings.

@@bk7064 technically the partners in TTYD were location-specific if you were using the most effective one for combat and exploration in each early-to-mid-game area (which was always the most recent one).
@@Highstar25 but you still needed them throughout the adventure even if their main role was done. Plus they stuck with you. This looks like they leave you and dont hang around.

Wrong, TTYD and Super Paper Mario had a way better soundtrack then Color Splash(Shadow Queen Phase 2 and The Ultimate Show as major examples).

I am too! Although I have a sneaking suspicion that it will actually be very similar in battle to Sticker Star. Because at 4:01, in the top left, it says “Shiny Hammer” which would imply a regular hammer and maybe even a worn out and Flashy Hammer. Just like Sticker Star and Color Splash..

Hmm, from your comment, I'm guessing you entered the series when Sticker Star came out. I can totally understand your opinion if that's true. If you played the original on N64 and Thousand Year Door, you would feel like most Paper Mario fans where Nintendo raises your hopes to bring back a legit turn-based battle system with upgradeable weapons and characters who join your party along the way and then smacks you in the face with another weak battle system, no permanent/upgradeable weapons and no character development. However, the jury is still out until this is released, so I'm still holding out hope...

While I wish the characters had a little more effort in them, the environments are certainly well designed and interesting. They really give me that classic paper mario feel.
Even though the characters may not look like much, once you get into the game, you can really connect with them. Tbh, I prefer some of them over the partners in TTYD/64.
