The Bowser 8-bit I think is another that's great. You could do so much of Mario going through Bowser's army as Bowser in disguise. Make the level feel like Snake donning a Box and hiding in plain sight.

Level ID is CHY-QXK-P7G I remade it in the original Super Mario Bros style similarly to how it was originally made, instead of making it in the New Super Mario Bros U style like how it’s shown in this footage. I even put all the background plants where they were in the footage

Zach's Mario Kart Channel Think about it nintendo was always soft when it comes to challenges they want family friendly games with very few occasional challenge levels. Its ment for kids super mario maker is where designers come in and create REAL BS levels. It is gonna make the impossible pack from NSMB2 look like a tip of the iceberg when you see these challenges people create. Gonna love having real challenging levels instead of wimpy gameplay. May not look like its worth 60 bucks but TRUST ME IT IS FOR ANY HARDCORE PLATFORMER.

Sadly Dylan it is through the fault of gaming, I am of this age group you are talking about and it is because of KSI and his brother using the word as any other and the majority of people in my year watch his videos and act the same way. But it isn't just them there are lots of people on the internet who don't care about others. Hopefully this doesn't ruin the game I don't expect it to because (surprisingly for a children's company) Nintendo fans are quite mature. Except when there wasn't voice chat in Splatoon

You should be able to turn off the unlock system.

I love the day system. It actually forces you to think creatively instead of being amazed at how you can put 200 giant winged bowsers on screen at the same time and never actually get to making a stage that you can be proud at.

I actually agree with you. It limits for a small time to be creative on what you have. That builds up on the new arrivals that come. Much preferring this than an insta-online kaizo mario level with endless enemies.
Why is everyone so worried about people used the custom sound effects for cursing? Nintendo has always been good with making sure you can block or report inappropriate players. Im sure that this game will be no exception.

SpotterX4 This may look like it's unlimited, but there are certain things you still can't do in this game, like build slopes. If such basic features aren't included, I imagine that with future Mario games they could add even more.
SpotterX4 At best, Super Mario Maker is limited to the same basic toolset that Nintendo used to make a Wii U launch game. And I suspect that some aspects of NSMBU, like bosses, will be impossible to replicate. So for the next 2D Super Mario, Nintendo would just have to go far beyond anything done so far in the series.
Not only that, but the poor performance of the Wii U as a whole. Nintendo had no clue how to advertise it (the trailer was quite bad for it, and it didn’t have many good trailers besides this one and a few others)

I can't wait till this comes out this saturday! I have already pre-ordered the limited edition pack which comes with the classic mario amiibo, Super Mario Maker art book, and a magnet collection sheet as a pre-order bonus! I obviously didn't want to miss out on this game...especially for it marking the 30th anniversary of Mario! All the Super Mario games have never not once been a disappointment well done Nintendo for 30 years of joy, playing Mario at 15 makes me feel like I am young again!!!
This game looks like it will be absolutely fantastic in the right hands. However I fear that it has the potential to suffer the same fate as most community controlled games do. And thats bad, effortless, and lazy design by people who have zero creativity.
Grample Gust It's going to be amazing I guarantee it, Imagine the folks that made Unfair Mario et al. doing new stuff in Mario Maker or having really creative fans of those type of games creating content, it's like modding, bad stuff will get lost.
Grample Gust I suspect the popularity of Mario will give it a larger base of creators to work with, especially with the rating system that encourages better designed courses. Most levels will probably be uncreative trash, but I think the remaining 10% will be fun.
Grample Gust The thing is that unlike most other community content based games, Mario ROM hacking already has a very real community of fairly talented designers, that are almost guaranteed to make levels here since it lets them reach a far larger community via an official platform.... possibly even easier to do as well.

The777brown I look at the downside as it limiting creators from getting the most of the creator from the start. And players won't be able to see the best they can see until several days after launch at the earliest.
I really like that you can add sound effects. ...but having to wait days to unlock new objects isn't what I was hoping for. Oh well, I guess I will upload my first level on the 8th day or something. Kinda goes against my plans but could be worse.

***** when you'll buy this game you will have a fairely limited set of tools in the first day (comparable to the ones used to make 1/1 in smb) but it doesn't really matter since you'll just be learning how to to use the interface and such. in your second sitting you'll have something to look forward to in the new tools that you'll learn to incorporate into your level 1 by 1. rinse and repeat until the 9 days pass. it's not like you have to wait 9 days to do anything as you'll have all the essentials in 2 days. it's not like there's another way to unlock stuff in this sort of game atleast you're not paying for tools.

Nintendo please let there be an option where you don't need to wait 9 days to unlock all the course elements and themes. It will kill a lot of the joy of playing it when it comes out because all of the courses will be very limited. I get the point of not overwhelming less experienced level creators, but the people that feel confident will very quickly get bored with the few options they have at launch. Just let there be a button in the options to skip waiting and get all the goods this really promising game has to offer!
Captain Falcon for people who have never designed levels before, starting off with a small amount of elements to work with prevents someone from feeling overwhelmed at the start. As they get comfortable with the first few tools available, then the palette expands for further experimentation. It's a good idea - and geared for people who have never done anything like this before. Having everything available first and not knowing what to put in can be very intimidating.
Jalen Harvell I agree, I myself create games using an engine called Unity, despite me now knowing it very well, I always felt overwhelmed at the start, the same thing applies to super mario maker, Anyways, the longer the game takes to unlock everything, the better!
Honestly, I think it's actually smart for you to not start with everything, First off, it gives the game a sense of unlockable items, second, it encourages you to keep playing the game every day, third, it won't be so overwhelming to see all of the items at once, and fourth, because of it not being overwhelming, it gives you more time to learn how to use all of the items in creative new ways.
Am I the only one who's a little disappointed that you have to wait to get tools? I want to pop the disc in and have everything unlocked, I don't want to wait to be able to play this game to its full potential, I want to have it all unlocked when I start, anybody else agree?
I am pretty stoked for this game. I hope that in the future there are are more level types added as DLC and maybe even the ability to bundle together a bunch of your maps to be played through as if they were a full game.

I really like that you can add sound effects. ...but having to wait days to unlock new objects isn't what I was hoping for. Oh well, I guess I will upload my first level on the 8th day or something. Kinda goes against my plans but could be worse.

***** when you'll buy this game you will have a fairely limited set of tools in the first day (comparable to the ones used to make 1/1 in smb) but it doesn't really matter since you'll just be learning how to to use the interface and such.
in your second sitting you'll have something to look forward to in the new tools that you'll learn to incorporate into your level 1 by 1.
rinse and repeat until the 9 days pass.
it's not like you have to wait 9 days to do anything as you'll have all the essentials in 2 days.
it's not like there's another way to unlock stuff in this sort of game atleast you're not paying for tools.

Nintendo please let there be an option where you don't need to wait 9 days to unlock all the course elements and themes. It will kill a lot of the joy of playing it when it comes out because all of the courses will be very limited. I get the point of not overwhelming less experienced level creators, but the people that feel confident will very quickly get bored with the few options they have at launch. Just let there be a button in the options to skip waiting and get all the goods this really promising game has to offer!
Captain Falcon for people who have never designed levels before, starting off with a
small amount of elements to work with prevents someone from feeling
overwhelmed at the start. As they get comfortable with the first few
tools available, then the palette expands for further experimentation.
It's a good idea - and geared for people who have never done anything
like this before. Having everything available first and not knowing
what to put in can be very intimidating.
I'm hoping we can just fast forward the internal clock and move forward, just play for five minutes then skip a day. I'm sure that'll work.
Jalen Harvell I agree, I myself create games using an engine called Unity, despite me now knowing it very well, I always felt overwhelmed at the start, the same thing applies to super mario maker, Anyways, the longer the game takes to unlock everything, the better!
Honestly, I think it's actually smart for you to not start with everything, First off, it gives the game a sense of unlockable items, second, it encourages you to keep playing the game every day, third, it won't be so overwhelming to see all of the items at once, and fourth, because of it not being overwhelming, it gives you more time to learn how to use all of the items in creative new ways.

I am pretty stoked for this game. I hope that in the future there are are more level types added as DLC and maybe even the ability to bundle together a bunch of your maps to be played through as if they were a full game.
