Super Mario Maker is a side-scrolling platform video game and game creation system developed and published by Nintendo exclusivly for Wii U, and released worldwide in September 2015. Players may create and play their own custom levels based on Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. U, and share them online. Sadly Dylan it is through the fault of gaming, I am of this age group you are talking about and it is because of KSI and his brother using the word as any other and the majority of people in my year watch his videos and act the same way. But it isn't just them there are lots of people on the internet who don't care about others. Hopefully this doesn't ruin the game I don't expect it to because (surprisingly for a children's company) Nintendo fans are quite mature. Except when there wasn't voice chat in Splatoon

Nothing strange about that at all. It looks awesome :) I'm just not crazy about the new content added daily thingy. I'd like to have everything from the start or at least unlock everything at my own pace some kind of way, instead of being forced to wait. Ah well, once the 9 days are up that won't be an issue anymore. Everything else looks great

I remade it in the original Super Mario Bros style similarly to how it was originally made, instead of making it in the New Super Mario Bros U style like how it’s shown in this footage. I even put all the background plants where they were in the footage

I love the day system. It actually forces you to think creatively instead of being amazed at how you can put 200 giant winged bowsers on screen at the same time and never actually get to making a stage that you can be proud at.
Detonexploder I sort of agree, but really? Having to wait nine days to get most of the content the game has to offer? I see what they're doing with this, but I at least wish it was optional so people like me who already have made plans for a great level could be able to make it immediately.

Why is everyone so worried about people used the custom sound effects for cursing? Nintendo has always been good with making sure you can block or report inappropriate players. Im sure that this game will be no exception.

SpotterX4 This may look like it's unlimited, but there are certain things you still can't do in this game, like build slopes. If such basic features aren't included, I imagine that with future Mario games they could add even more.

SpotterX4 At best, Super Mario Maker is limited to the same basic toolset that Nintendo used to make a Wii U launch game. And I suspect that some aspects of NSMBU, like bosses, will be impossible to replicate. So for the next 2D Super Mario, Nintendo would just have to go far beyond anything done so far in the series.

I can't wait till this comes out this saturday! I have already pre-ordered the limited edition pack which comes with the classic mario amiibo, Super Mario Maker art book, and a magnet collection sheet as a pre-order bonus! I obviously didn't want to miss out on this game...especially for it marking the 30th anniversary of Mario! All the Super Mario games have never not once been a disappointment well done Nintendo for 30 years of joy, playing Mario at 15 makes me feel like I am young again!!!

I really like that you can add sound effects. ...but having to wait days to unlock new objects isn't what I was hoping for. Oh well, I guess I will upload my first level on the 8th day or something. Kinda goes against my plans but could be worse.
***** This is good game design. You gradually unlock stuff so you can learn how to properly use the tools and not become overwhelmed. Besides, you don't have to wait that long.

adrock4 If your only idea is to put yoshi, you are not a good designer.
***** when you'll buy this game you will have a fairely limited set of tools in the first day (comparable to the ones used to make 1/1 in smb) but it doesn't really matter since you'll just be learning how to to use the interface and such.
in your second sitting you'll have something to look forward to in the new tools that you'll learn to incorporate into your level 1 by 1.
rinse and repeat until the 9 days pass.
it's not like you have to wait 9 days to do anything as you'll have all the essentials in 2 days.
it's not like there's another way to unlock stuff in this sort of game atleast you're not paying for tools.
Watch Super Mario Maker end up being like Happy Wheels and having 95% of the levels people release be "DON'T MOVE" or "99.9999999999999% IMPOSSIBLE" levels.

DON'T MOVE levels will be in Easy and IMPOSSIBLE LEVELS will be in Hard (likely)
best bet would be to just pick out levels from the Medium option.

I don't mind it to be honest; I really don't want "99.999999% IMPOSSIBRU" levels with towers of Bowsers and Chain Chomps right at the launch of the game. It gives you something more to be proud of, knowing that you made a pretty cool level without your huge flying bullet bill-shooting Bowser. I just wanna play the 100-Mario challenge without that stuff for a little while, y'know? ;-; Maybe unlock some amiibo costumes? Although I do have to agree a little bit on this one; I need my flying Bob-ombs.

Andrew P. Probably changing the internal clock within the Wii U. However, you have to play around in the editor each "day" for five minutes.

Poke Rus It doesn't matter when you get it, you have to wait those nine days. It's not like Splatoon where stuff is added via updates; the stuff is already in the game to begin with, but is unlocked every day as you play, much like WarioWare DIY.

Ds players who have to suffer through 100 poorly made levels to use some bouncy blocks:are you sure about that
So, let me get this straight: you play the game for five minutes to unlock new items, but those items aren't available until the next day? Why are we forced to wait a whole day to unlock new features? Why not just give it to us immediately? That is not good design. Why not have the player complete specific challenges, like using certain items in a level, (similar to Little Big Planet), then instantly reward you with said items. This isn't Animal Crossing and this would be unacceptable in almost any other game.
Silent Hero for people who have never designed levels before, starting off with a
small amount of elements to work with prevents someone from feeling
overwhelmed at the start. As they get comfortable with the first few
tools available, then the palette expands for further experimentation.
It's a good idea - and geared for people who have never done anything
like this before. Having everything available first and not knowing
what to put in can be very intimidating.
Jalen Harvell It's a good thing for newcomers, but it hinders experienced gamers who are very familiar with Mario and level creator games. Some people want to play the game at their own pace and not be forced to wait 9 days to unlock everything the game has to offer.

You can even give an enemy a super mushroom, or stack maybe 3 Bowser's on top of eachother! Share them worldwide and play tons of other levels by other users!
