    Hi,
    thanks for the awesome video!
    I lost my two keys and my Niu is locked, now. Do you have any Tipps on how to renew the lock? I guess removing the front won’t help. I guess I need to drill the lock, isn’t it? Thanks in advance

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  Год назад +1

      Not only do you have a lock problem, but you have an alarm problem as well. I don't have a guaranteed solution for you, but before you drill both locks (there is also the battery compartment release lock under the seat), I recommend contacting your local dealer to see if they have a solution. Maybe your VIN is linked to a specific key that can be ordered. Your VIN is under the seat, which you can't access, but your ownership papers should also have it listed. Good luck.

    Does that scooter have 12v circuit? I want to install wireless charger for my phone

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  Год назад +1

      Yes it does. Near the ECU is the transformer with 5 VDC and 12 VDC outputs. The lights, display/dash, and horn run on 12 VDC.

    Was it possible to open up the ECU as well? Or was it glued tight together?

      It is possible to open it up. It was just screwed together.

    I managed in the end, I broke both the 2 plastic rawlplugs underneath. I think you have to do that anyway. I was wanting to fix a roll radio designed for handlebars. Sadly not rechargeable, has to be wired in on the ignition. However the ignition has no tags like I expected, totally sealed, so put it all back and will need to think of another way.

    • @randomtasks

      You might want to try tapping into the small DC-DC converter. It has 12V and 5V outputs. It looks like this: www.gumtree.com/p/replacement-parts/pld125-1dcf55-12-power-converter-transformer-for-niu-electric-mopeds-scooters/1421048150

    I have the failure code 60 , did you have the same problem ? do I have to swap the hole ECU is there no way to check if the sim card is fallen out of its place ?
    I hate it so much, how can a new e scooter have problems like this so fast

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад

      I had failure code 67, which is common in 2017 models. The SIM card cannot be removed and cannot fall out of place. I know that software updates can sometimes cause problems. Check with your dealer and/or with NIU directly. They might be able to solve the problem, assuming it's software related. Otherwise, if the problem is the SIM card, you will either need to replace the ECU or live without having a SIM card connected. What year is your bike? And are you located in Germany?

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад

      I'm not sure what you mean by "converter", but in general, you can only use NIU parts inside the bike. If by "converter" you mean the charger, I believe there are some aftermarket chargers that will work. Check AliExpress for chargers.

    I just paid $49 for 2 more years of GPS, 1 week later it stopped! They said disconnect and reconnect the battery. Apparently its not the main one. My local dealer stopped doing NIU and said its where you are working. Can you point out where it is please.

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  11 месяцев назад

      The GPS module is attached to the ECU, so if you unplug the ECU, it will completely disconnect it from the main batteries.

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад

      Your best bet is to post in the forum at myniu.org. There is a lot of good information on that site and in the forum. That being said, the SIM card within the ECU can die and it's impossible to replace it. If it is no longer active, you cannot connect to your bike with the app and can no longer get OTA updates.

    Is the GPS in the ecu?

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  6 месяцев назад

      For the first generation ECU (up until early 2018), the GPS is inside the ECU. For the 2nd and 3rd generation ECU, it’s mounted on the outside of the ECU case.

    Is it possible to DIY replace the ecu battery?

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад

      I didn't notice a battery within the ECU when I opened it up. Open up your ECU and check it out yourself. As shown in my video, it's pretty easy to get to the ECU and there are only 4 screws holding the enclosure together. You can also post your question in the forum at myniu.org. There is a lot of good information on that site and in the forum.

    I have a Niu Uqi Pro 2021 model, suddenly the GPS has stopped working on the app. Are the steps similar do you know? Thanks!

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад +1

      The UQi is completely different from the NQi/N1S. In theory, the steps are "similar" in that you need to remove some body panels to expose the ECU and GPS, but I've never wrenched on a UQi. However, for a 2021 model, your best bet is to go to your dealer since it's probably something that they would fix under warranty. It might be something as simple as a software update.

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад

      In short, you can't. You can replace the ECU and you can replace the controller, or buy an add-on unit for the controller that will make you go faster. Read this to learn more about making them faster: www.myniu.org/making-the-n1s-faster/

      I never said that I would show you how to remove the battery from the ECU, just how to remove the ECU itself. You can open up the ECU yourself, but you will void your warranty (if you still have one).

    • @stumpusMaximus
      @stumpusMaximus 2 года назад

      It’s normal for the ECU battery to drain once disconnected. I have taken my bike off the road since December and left it till March (now 2022) connected it and it’s fine. Charged up in about 6hrs. Best thing to do is store the bike in your house off the street out of the winter - as there’s no ECU to alert you of theft,movement etc.. I’ve raised it with the dealership and NIU aren’t going to change it. Which defeats the purpose of taking the battery into the house over winter so it doesn’t get damaged by the cold. A bad design. Keep the battery out of the bike and the main battery will hold its charge for months.

    So the niu would work without a sim card? and would it work without being connected to a phone? I have no idea

    • @randomtasks
      @randomtasks  2 года назад

      Yes, although you get error code P67 flashing every minute or so, which is annoying at first, but you get used to it. And without a functioning SIM card, there is no connection to the app, so no phone required.
