Pete, as a retired couple in the Midwest with our own just a few acres farm, my husband and I appreciate your peaceful, common sense and uncomplicated content. Whether it's grilling, gardening, animals, or working on old tractors, we've learned so much from your videos. You remind me of my dad, who was very smart and had a wealth of knowledge about what seemed to be everything. But he was also humble and unpretentious. Thank you, Pete and Hillarie! You make an excellent team!
@@billreal76 You bet! Dad and my uncles were great story tellers. He also had a dry wit that kept us laughing right up until the end. Miss him terribly!

I´m a grumpy 45 year old man and I just want to give you a big hug and an even bigger thank you. I love what I learn every video and today I learned a lot about compaction, even though the cows was very distracting😆 Thank you for showing all this to us. All the best from Denmark.
Do we get grumpy at 45 when we are from Denmark. Born and raised in Copenhagen, and have also become somewhat more grumpy with age. I agree, great channel! Tak from Denmark
We planted sweet corn in hills of 5 kernels per hill. I like the manure pile pumpkin idea. While I was in the Service I told a guy from Indianapolis that we planted vegetables in pig manure. He was repelled. I assured him I preferred that to chemicals. I attribute lots of my family's good health to our suspicion of chemicals, and processing. Thank you Pete.
Hi Pete and Hilarie, thanks for all you do to inspire and entertain people all over the world. I'll send you another letter from Ireland soon. Very best wishes - Paul.
LOL, And the academy award for best actor in a farm series goes to…………. Your electric fence scene was priceless. Love your tractor rebuilds and general farm knowledge. Great channel!
It's really smart to do an introduction for each video. You never know who is watching for the first time. It helps new "family" members feel more welcome. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Pete, I thought you and Hillary were lucky but I realized you’re not. You are blessed. God has given you your own piece of heaven right here on earth. I love watching you work with your animals and on planting your garden. It reminds me of when I did that with my mom years ago, she was the same way no special plan to squat and plant and then everything just grew if she touched it, keep up the good work. I’ll be watching.
This channel has very quickly become my favorite channel on the website. Growing up as a farm kid with the dream of owning 50-80 acres one day, this channel is genuinely helping me learn more and more about farming. I’ve only ever farmed livestock like beef/dairy cattle, dairy goats, rabbits, pigs, chickens and turkeys, pretty much just about anything. I love watching Your content because you give the information without coming off as cocky or arrogant. You are genuinely enjoying spreading your wealth of knowledge with your fans, and that is just amazing. God bless you and your family sir!
Always love your information and explanation on caring for your pastures. We have nice sub-irrigated pastures but unfortunately we also get flooded most years. The pastures are also overgrazed because I can’t seem to convince my husband they need to be rotated and not left to keep grazing where they have just been. We also don’t have a manure spreader and much of what the cattle lay down gets washed away. We don’t have a mower either. I guess we were I’ll prepared to care for pasture.
Pete enjoyed your video, the bad dad jokes and the lesson on keeping pastures up for grazing. I notice how the cows follow you around. You have a great herd. Have a great rest of your week. Thank you for sharing.
My wife and I just got done doing tree cleanup. We live in North Texas the tornados over the weekend give us fits for sure. We didn’t have any house damage. Used my red tractor to move limbs. Glad your all ok. Take care, God Bless.
tomotillas oh i got a bunch one year and made smoked salsa verde, very easy to do and i sold 20 per quart.fill the pot with cut up toms a few white onions and one pineapple you can use liquid smoke or if you want to roast any of onion or toms. but i did many types of fruits pineapple or peach or rsted chili, however i did they all were delicious
Nice lesson on soil and pasture management, my Dad born 1912 farmed all his life is applauding your approach in heavily home above ,he was a fan of carefully managing the most important asset, in his thinking, the soil.
Sorry you lost your tree. I love your stories, jokes, farming, and animals. When Hillary smiles she is SO pretty! We live in North FL close to the GA line. My Granddaddy and Daddy were farmers. They LOVED farming, fishing, and working with animals. I still miss your “piggers.” See ya next time.
Looks like with Hilarie's help you made quick work of the storm damage. She is a real Gem of a helper. Nebraska is having our share of bad storms lately too. There has been big hail and tornadoes and many of the storms are severe but not a lot of rain in this area. Lincoln and Omaha got hit with some terrible tornado damage. I like the way you garden Pete. My brother-in-law used to say, "you can grow more corn in a crooked row." He was joking of course and most farmers pride themselves on nice straight rows.
Love the timing of this video. Yesterday we experienced our first derricho, 75 mph winds, torrential rain, lots of lightening. They kept saying to take cover but we were glued to the windows watching. Not smart but amazing. We have 20+ trees down. Neighbors huge oak came down in our driveway, trunk is 36" in diameter. We need a bigger chainsaw! We are all safe, all the animals are all fine but not do we have a lot of clean up. We cut a tunnel through the down oak tree so we could get cars out. Garden looks great, coming along nicely. My garden is a disaster. 42 inches of rain since May 1st. 600+% of our monthly average. East Texas is crazy right now
Planting corn to look at is an interesting concept. 😀 Years ago, my dad bought a couple of Longhorns so he could enjoy seeing them in the pasture! ☮️❤️
I come here mostly for mental health reasons. That, and Pete's korny jokes. Having worked on a dairy farm as a young man, those electric fence jokes never get old. We used to have loads of fun with those city boys and electric fences. As usual, great video.
Dump a handful of composted chicken manure in a two gallon sprinkler with water. Mix it well and chase around the base of vegetables in the garden. I bet you will be surprised. And it’s free!
Pete, I'd love for you to consider adding a used 3pt hitch wood chipper to the farm. We use ours all the time. The wood chip are so useful (bedding, garden mulch, etc) and would be much less hauling for ya (what doesn't go through the chipper, goes through the stove).
Loved it when the cows didn't want to mooooooove out of your way! 😅 I think they were mad at you for taking their tree from them! Thanks for the great video, Pete. Loved the #2 pencil joke!!! 🤔 Everyday is brighter with you & Hilary! 🤗😁
I have always spread my composted cow manure on my hay fields , but I have spread it out very thin over several acres. Last year I took your advice and just covered one of my fields about 20 acres with all of my compost very thick. That field is now as of May 28 of 2024 twice as high and thick as my other fields. I was afraid I would smother it out but that did not happen. Thank you for the advice , an old dog can learn new tricks. Cant wait to see what it is like next year. See Ya Next Time.
I love everything about your channel, as soon as you tell a dad joke I call my granddaughter to share it with her. Tonight I called her down and told her I had a message from Pete. She said she figured that was the case 🤣
With that electrocution stunt, you reminded me 40 years ago we were training in military map and compass navigation, and decided to cheat a shortcut through a farm field. Brilliant idea with the pumpkins.
To make up for all that lost shade you'll need to provide the girls with drinks with those little umbrellas in them. Especially Patty.
