These Windows handhelds look great for raw performance and support that Linux can't handle (e.g. Game Pass, anti-cheat, etc), but I'm glad I got a launch Steam Deck. The suspend feature, great Steam integration, and most importantly, lack of Windows make me prefer the Steam Deck.
@@tlingitsoldier yeah. Missing out on a handful of games is totally worth the console like interface and simplicity the Steam Deck has. I hope eventually Microsoft has some new version of Windows that works well with devices like these

my suggestion to debloat windows, get rid of everything you can like skype, office and other stuff that is installed. This will free up a lot of windows resources, disable stuff like autopilot this will stream line much of your windows configuration. You could always download Tiny Windows also. But this is a must because with changing VRAM and other settings windows loves to eat memory.

I have a new board on my Ally but I refuse to use it until better testing results come out. Weird problem.
@BAHHHHB - what about emulator game saves and synchronizing? Do you manually setup a Google drive or something on every device? How's that work on non-windows? (Steam deck) what's the delay for each to save before shutdown or sync after getting on a new device?
I didn't have no problem setting up a Rog Ally with the virtual keyboard but I did have a Microsoft Windows account which might have made the process easier once I logged in.

If you have a Best Buy credit card, you can get it for no interest as long as u pay it off within 24 months (about 30 bucks a month) . I switched my mobile provider to an add on to my internet to save 40$/mo to offset the added cost. You could do something similar and see no diff in your monthly cash flow and get a new handheld Pc. Good luck!

I bought the ROG Ally Z1 model right around this Thanksgiving and I loved it. However I just returned it to Best Buy today because it corrupted my 1TB microSD card. It was happening as I was playing the RE4 Remake and the game crashed twice. I thought it was the game at first until Windows popup a message saying the SD card couldn't be found. Thankfully I was able to get refund and just ordered a Steam Deck OLED 512GB today to save myself any more grief.
