In this video, we do a weather test, to see if the Roam Adventure Case withstands the elements.
Also we go over the different mounts that can be used for a Roam case to secure to your Roof Rack, whether it's a Prinsu roof rack, Front Runner, roof rack or any other style.
You can use cam straps, Bungi Cords, Ratchet straps... but these are all the budget ways to get it done.
For a better longterm solution, we discuss and shoe the Sherpa T bars, the EO (2) mounts and the new ROAM Rugged mounts. Each have their benefits.
Ultimately it depends on your budget, and if your want to drill holes in your case, and if you want ease of removing your case if you plan on doing so often.
At the end of the video, I cleaned and protected the Case with Cerakote, which made the Case look better than new, as it makes it deep Black.
Great video! The sherpa mount doesnt work on the frontrunner slimline 2 rack because there's nowhere to screw in the bolts horizontally from the side but Roam makes one that works the same but bolts down vertically into the crossbar
very nice builds, I just got my 80 series a month ago. ive been watching all your videos keep up the great work. im baselining it right now, its a 96 Triple locked
Sweet! Good year and 3x is key!
Nice! I've been contimplating buying Roams case mounts but my EO2 mounts have been holding up great! I think if/when I do buy another Roam case, I will buy the Roam mounts for that too! Great video!
In the video I have E02 also, but drilling of course... and is close to $340 with shipping and lock..
Rugged at $199 and free shipping, no drilling is a little less... And E02 looks like they will be going out of business in a year or so without an influx of Capital.
what kinda lock do you use to lock it?
If you want it lower you could use longer carriage bolts on the bottom of EO2 and a bridging plate under the rack bars (bit of ally, drilled and sprayed), mounting the EO2 direct to the rack! 😜
good idea
Great video, should have way more likes
I put stair foam all around inside with gorilla tape and I can keep cold stuff for more than 48 hrs
Thank you!
Lack of mounting points on top of the lid or on the sides( underneath the long hinge) length side is the problem I have with all hard cases. I want to mount a tripod to the cases but only way is to drill thru the case.
Drilling is the only option.
@@CruisingTheLand 😩 thanks for your reply
How do you keep the box from sagging in the middle when using the lock kits.
Any lock recommendations for the case latches? It’s gotta be kind of small and I don’t think luggage or TSA locks would last out in the elements
cable locks
Informative info. I see Roam has a pre-black Friday sale going on! I have a Subaru Outback with roof rails along with Thule crossbars that have the tslot. I don’t have an actual roof rack. If I get the 83 or 95l box with roam mounts, could I attach it to the Thule Evo Wingbar Crossbars without drilling holes? Thanks
You may need C clamps. If there are holes already to the base that you want to connect to, the Rugged mounts have virtually every option to bolt down with multiple bolting point. It is a badass mount.. 200% quality for the price
How do you
keep the box secure from being stolen?
im afraid my pelican box being strap up at my roof and parking everywhere will get it stolen.
There is a rattle snake inside the Box.
Where did you get the roof rack light brackets for your KC lights?
Bought them in Ebay..7" long and drilled some custom holes. Worked out great.
If you dry the case off before opening would help us make a better decision.
lol
Just ordered the 128 and mounts
Nice! Did you get the 18% off?
@@CruisingTheLand at least that much. I priced it on their site and on 4R Lifestyle. Saved a bunch on shipping from 4RL. $500 ish for the case and mounts, to my door.
How is the wind shear with the 95l? I’ve been debating between the 83l and 93l.
I have then up on top of my Prinsu. No noise really to speak of..
how you installed those ridgi lights in the back of you caR ? LOOKS GOOD!!!!!
It's a Yotateq product I think...
I have a 200 series and want to mount a 95l horizontally behind my Rooftop tent, do you know if the rugged mounts can be installed horizontally instead of lengthwise?
(I have a Frontrunner slimline 2 rack)
yes, I don't see why not.
Ok thanks, I’m hoping so because no manufacturers (Roam/Pelican/23Zero) show pictures of them mounted in that orientation on their websites. And in pelicans instructions for their mounting system is says only lengthwise of the vehicle. I’m really hoping the Roam ones are compatible in that way. Love your channel by the way!
EO2 may be out of business...website is down and no responses on Facebook... Anyone know the story here? Bought out perhaps?
I spoke to them last October..At the time seemed they were not going back to production and was a stalemate between investor agressive terms and company and sounded like not worth their while to reproduce. Shame, because the system in ingenious.
Name of latch please
Over time, the lid will warp.
Maxtrax extremes are better also the maxtrax are actually made in Australia
They are very cool but they are also very expensive :/
Yes they are, but when they last 20+ years you know you got quality! For me, I prefer to buy once, then 3x for a cheaper item..
@@CruisingTheLand how do you know it will last 20 years?
Not supposed to say, but I am a time traveler. In the Future, you become the World's best Musician.
@@CruisingTheLand 😂😂 that’s never gonna happen 😂😂
Aren’t you ever worried they’ll get stolen when leaving ur car unattended?
When going outside involves dumping buckets of money into a pit. Doesn’t make sense.
True.. but the other option is staying at home... that kinda sucks.
