  • In this final episode of our Stage 1 Ranger everyday setup, we run through a number of tips and tricks on how we organise and store things to make your life easier. I run through what we have in regards to cross bars and storage units and how they came to be. I also touch on other options you might want to consider.
    This is a combination is new and used components and aims to provide a budget conscious overview for smart flexible and adaptable storage for your dual cab ute which lends its self to weekends away as well as day to day use.
    Remember to check all your load ratings and that you might need to fit additional supports including J Braces in the Ranger utes.
    Here is a list of all the gear we have used:
    Tub Cross Bars:

    Roof Cross Bars - these are the updated RX feet units - available in black and silver:

    (on special for $59 at time of video!)
    Dune 95L Storage Box:
    www.anacondastores.com/4wd-ca...
    Caos Gear has the same in a grey:

    Great info mate . Love the ranger vids. I installed the arb base rack myself. Pulled the roof lining down didn’t break anything. Needed to drill holes . Took some time but wasn’t to hard. It doesn’t make much noise tiny bit of wind buffering that’s all. I did notice there is not much insulation under there. Like to see you do a vid on insulating the roof

    I am glad I found your video. I love the way you think and solve problems. I am also thinking of customising a tub platform with gas strut lift as what is available on the market is very expensive. I am waiting with anticipation for that video to come out.

      Hi Alan, sorry for the very late reply. I just released a video with the lift up Tub Rack from Triple M. It's such a game changer and much better than the side opening solution I was going to DIY build. If you contact Matt at www.triplemtubracks.com.au/ he will be able to help you out.

    Great video, good to see some ideas and thinking other than 'throw another thousand dollars at more fancy aluminium systems that weighs heaps and has zero versatility.' Do the tactix collapsible crate stack/nest? We have some (responsibly sourced) coles ones and they lock together when stacked vertically both when they are flat and when in crate form. Mint.

    Great videos, I really like them. I have a Platinum so a bit different. What brand is the tub basket you bought off Marketplace please ? I assume the rack mounts can be bought from Autobahn or Supercheap ?
    Thanks

    Could’ve been a 5 minute video i feel. For the wind noise on the roof, the bars are acting like a reed on a wind instrument. You can break up the flow by winding a thin rope around it in a corkscrew manner. Look at the antenna on your ranger to see what I mean.

    There are weight rated tonneau covers on the market. The Diamondback HD is rated to 1,600 lbs and the Renegade tri-fold is rated to 2,000 lbs.

    • @WorkLivePlay
      @WorkLivePlay  2 месяца назад +1

      Late reply however I do find it interesting what you have over in the US compared to what we do here in Australia. Those weight rated covers aren't readily available, however you are starting to see some fitted to imported Rams, Silverado's etc. We tend to have soft tonneaus, canopys (toppers over your way), hard covers or tub racks which sit over factory fitted roller shutters like what we have on the Wildtrak.

      @@WorkLivePlay There are a lot of different options here if you want to add to a pickup bed, but we don't have nearly as many options for bed replacement. If you want to run a flatbed (with or without an Aussie style canopy), you will find it difficult to retrofit the flatbed to a standard pickup. All of our aftermarket beds are designed to be installed on cab and chassis trucks. The bed rails and the cab to axle distance on the cab and chassis trucks are standardized to make it easy for the up-fitter companies to build bodies that fit any chassis cab of the correct length regardless of company. Unfortunately this means that a standard bed doesn't fit on a chassis cab (3" extra gap between cab and bed) and you can't easily remove a pickup bed for an up-fitter bed.

  • @gailmaplesden7380

    Why don't people use lumber or ladder racks for their build. It seems to me that if you got the weight off the cab and put it on the tub which is bolted directly to the frame would help the cab ride feel better by not compressing the cab bushings. They can be reinforced to handle quite a bit of weight and make removal much easier with no holes left behind in your cab .

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 2 месяца назад

      Similar types of racks attach directly to tonneau covers. Some ladder racks are tough to take off by yourself so you need another person to go to open bed (for a bed mounted hitch etc).

    Thanks for the info. How much did the triple m braces cost and how did you purchase them? I’ve been to their website and it is total crap. I’ve submitted a form for a quote but haven’t heard anything back

      Hi Paul, ours was $360 delivered. I purchased directly from Matt at Triple M who responded straight away, from memory I received in a few days. I would try them again as they may have been away during the holidays? It's a great product and much better than the Bespoke design as you don't have the vertical braces running down to the middle tie down points 👍

      Hi Leigh, The tub support brackets come from Triple M Tub Racks. They should work on Raptors with the factory roller shutter however Matt will certainly be able to confirm if you contact him - www.triplemtubracks.com.au/

    Why don’t people buy canopies lol

    • @mundydiludovico5268
      @mundydiludovico5268 4 месяца назад +1

      Had canopy for years and they are so restrictive, using this or similar systems makes it more modular .. but if a canopy does the trick then that’s the way to go.

    • @rich7447
      @rich7447 2 месяца назад

      Tonneau covers make more sense if you are using the bed for more than just a dry cargo compartment. I need access to the gooseneck hitch, so tri-fold tonneau is the best option. Roller covers use too much bed space.

    • @ridgey_didge
      @ridgey_didge 20 дней назад

      Lighter weight with no canopy. More modular if you do things like carry bicycles - hitch carriers are inconvenient with a ute tailgate. Keeps swags and bulky gear down low on a tubrack - nice and aero with better weight distribution for off road driving.

    The biggest storage tip is don't buy a dual cab. Buy a crew cab or mega cab.
