V6 for life! Change the oil, fill the tank and feel the power!
I felt it yesterday went to try one, pretty awesome engine with lot of power and ofcourse I bought it. Leather seats , Compass in the middle as extra option...213k on the clock...😏😏😜 Excellent...👌 was not that cheap, but still it's an LC 4.0 V6.
Yeah great motor. No mucking around with timing belts and dodgy injectors and the oil filter is staring right at you.
Great to see the mighty V6 getting a looking in from time to time. I always find these post on 1grfe very interesting and informative as i have both a prado and hilux fitted with this engine.
The 1GRFE is a very reliable engine. Mine has close to 400 000 km and still runs like a top. The crusty oil around the filler is normal as long as the oil has been changed every 10 k. You are right about the rubber fuel tank pipe - I’ve replaced mine 3 times as they crack and get very brittle. All in all a great engine and much simpler and less hassle than a diesel.
Nice to hear this, just a question? When did you changed your water pump? How long did it hold?
The first gen 1GRFE in the 120’s was Toyota’s best ever engine. Once the 2nd gen 1GRFE (used in the 150’s) was rolled out, it then became Toyota’s best ever engine and still is. It’s still in use today put into 2023 models in the USA it’s that good of an engine.
@@The_Touring_Jedi replace the coolant every couple years, or most of it. I did the w/p when the rad cracked, well before 200k lol
Mine has just blown head gasket mate at 260kss .I changed oil every 3kks but I didn't change coolant much only every 20kss
Oh it's on lpg dual fuel
Love the location of that oil filter!
I have same modal vehicle, the one shown looks like it has been cleaned and let sit for quite a while, mine has rear main leak I did slow it down quite considerably by cleaning the pcv valve but of cause not the permanent repair.
It's just the aluminum oxidizing. My 1kzte has started doing the same thing. We've had some pretty humid days lately which cause more moisture on the aluminum.
is amazing that toyota looks like new 0 rust amazing...dont worry about the white stuf in the engine its aluminium oxide dont worry it happen in all the engines
The white residue, Repco degreaser, it does the same to my V6 Hilux.
Ps to that last comment my has just clicked over the big 500000, still goes really well.
Another fantastic video

Probably cleaned with caustic degreaser?
End of the month one 4.0 V6 is coming to my garage. 213k with leather seats, Navigation, digital compass in the middle of the console...😏
There are bits to be done, car was sitting for month coverd in snow, I just turned the key and it started like a charm making no noise...engine is covered the same this in the video. Aluminium Oxydation...new cooling radiator already installed as thermostat. A lot more rust then this one but it would be all done in couple of moths. From outside car has no single scratch, looks nice. The belt makes some noise, actually it is some bearing. I hope with couple of hundreds gonna be fit for inspection. So happy I found one, it was actually the only one for sale in Switzerland. Cheers
If you own a petrol engine, change your oil people!
What would use to clean the calcification on the aluminum parts under the hood? Great video.
I would also like to know that. There is probably some spray against build up.
Dry ice blasting should do the job nice without a problem. But protecting due to engine heat is the problem. I will use dry ice blasting for engine compartment.
Allo, how would I go about organising a pre purchase inspection through your shop? Cheers
Awesome
Hope this was a bargain buy, looks a little dodgy, put together cheeply from used parts, by the surface rust on drive line, callipers etc, definatly been in salt water.🤨
Ps: Having trouble with getting the dip stick in the hole, we've all been there😉
What oil do you use for the v6? I was thinking of using 5w40 penrite hpr 5. 150 series v6 dual vvt-i
10w40 Shell Helix Hx7 from Supercheap auto and Repco when on special and buy two bottles at a time…
5w30, 10w40, that's in the book.
Book says 5/30. I use full synthetic Castrol Edge 5/30. I like it.
That's a good oil to use, it's a common choice among 1GR owners.
Poor ole car. Not very well maintained unfortunately...
