doubt, anxiety, and evil speech are from the devil. So you are in turn affirming that you praise God because you want him to do something for you. It is like saying "Thank you" to someone as a manipulative trick because you want something from that person. If someone does this to you, will you be happy? Thanking you only because they want something from you?

First, I appreciate the desire for holiness and accuracy in worship. We should all have that desire and practice so that we may worship in spirit and in truth. Our pastoral team does review the lyrics of all songs used in corporate worship. This song, "Praise", has passed the test for us.
    .
Now, a few items to address:
    .
4:15 - No, we're not teaching people that our physical enemies drown in our praise. Any Christian who has read the Book of Ephesians knows what this means. We're discussing spiritual warfare. Our enemies are not flesh and blood, but rather they are the rulers of darkness in this age and the spiritual forces at work against us. This is simply a metaphor. Metaphor is used throughout the Bible in the Book of Psalms in particular, which is the Bible "manual of praise" for lack of a better term. There are tons of metaphors in it, none of which are meant to be taken literally. So if we have a problem with modern praise songs using metaphor, then much of Psalms much also be discredited.
    .
Regarding Old Testament style miracles happening: I'm not a charismatic, but I attend and worship at an Assemblies Church. None of us think bread is going to rain down from heaven (unless that's a metaphor for receiving blessings), we don't think walls are going to fall down, nor do we think the rivers are going to part. Again, this song is a metaphor. You're reading it literally. We don't take it that way... at all! There are tons of traditional songs that use metaphors, and I don't see people worrying about them. "Lift you up on eagles wings".... no one expecting an eagle to pick you up on the way home from church if you veer off the road. "A Mighty Fortress is our God"... no one is expecting God to built a moat and walls around your house. "Jesus Savior pilot me..." no one expects us to sell out house, buy a boat, and have God directly steer us on the oceans.
    .
Regarding instant solutions: no one expects such things, again, unless you're in a Word of Faith or Prosperity Gospel church, which has a lot more to fault than simply misusing worship music. Rather, lifelong praise of God and prayer to him are the goals regardless of the scenarios we find ourselves in. Does God grant specific release from physical ailments and material blessings? Yes, on occasions he does, but there's no expectation of a 1 for 1 tit for tat, nor is there any guarantee at all that we will receive healing or blessings. Regardless, there are plenty of examples of people praying ceaselessly to God for relief in the Bible: Hannah (the Prophet Samuel's mother) asking for a son; Paul asking for relief from his 'thorn in the flesh'. One person's prayer (Hannah's) is answered favorably; the other's (Paul) is left to endure with God strengthening him. Why not praise God in the same way? Don't worry: we don't see God as a genie. There is nothing in this song that suggests instant gratification, so I do not understand why that was brought up as a point of contention. Do some churches misuse this song that way? I'm sure there are. Blame the churches, not the song or songwriters.
    .
Regarding praise as a weapon: The Sword of the Spirit. God's Word? Yep. Any true use of God's Word is a weapon against the lies of Satan. This song contains many truths about God and his faithfulness. Thus, it can be a weapon against the slings and arrows of the evil one. We should always use the weapons (and armor) that God puts at our disposal. We can fill our mouths with praise rather than complaints.
    .
I look at this similar to when Jesus told his disciples: "Whoever is not against us is for us." These song writers are putting forth new songs for people to worship God with, and unless we can find direct, clear contradictions to scripture, I'd invite us to be a little less nitpick and bit more gracious. You may interpret the song strictly, so it's not good or healthy for you to use it. If someone's church hasn't been well-versed in Scripture to understand passages such as 'The Armor of God', then probably these aren't the best songs to use. My church is versed in those passages and therefore interprets much of the song metaphorically, and therefore we can and do use it with that in mind.
    .
One other thought: if these kinds of songs do confuse people in your congregation, what a great time to open up the Bible to Ephesian Ch 6 and do a series on "The Armor of God" and/or the Psalms!
    .
Submitted respectfully. Hopefully, I passed the "discernment" test. *grins

The sheer number of people in support of this pedantic and nit picky video with not one bit of push back is so terribly emblematic of how dumbed down our society has become. We no longer understand nuance, metaphor, imagery, poetic license etc etc to the degree that the church is fighting over the songs we sing vice what's in our hearts.

I think I agree with the points you have laid out. But maybe the reason many are quick to question the soundness of the lyrics of an Elevation song is because of the many other times they have said outlandish things in their songs/sermons. Many of their songs/sermons have also often been self-centered rather than God-centered. If church leadership is to condone one of their songs, wouldn't that open the door for congregants to consume other media of their's that could contain false doctrine/ideas about our faith?
Not everyone in the congregation has the discernment that the pastoral staff should have. Therefore, I think it would be wise to not only teach sound doctrine, but also to protect the flock from false doctrine. Similar to what Allen stated in the video, even if it was only 1% bad and 99% good, it still wouldn't be worth consuming at all.

I appreciate your thoughtful and thorough reply. It was very kind as well. Thank you for that. Metaphors are great as long as they are biblical. So describing God as a mighty fortress is biblical because the Bible says that he is our protector. So that’s why creativity is great when it’s biblical. But when we use metaphors to describe God, in a way, that is biblical, that’s the problem. For instance, a few years ago, the song, Wreckless Love was another one that all the churches were singing. But, reckless means to be out of control and oftentimes, putting others in danger. In no situation should we ever describe God and his love as reckless. Does that make sense?

I took the lyric "praise is the water my enemies drown in" as referring to spiritual enemies and problems in our life, but I didn't take it as meaning that praise would get all the enemies off our backs and solve every problem. I kind of took it as praise is good for the soul when we are going through rough times, so when we are praising our problems don't feel so large...as in "they drown" in comparison to God's goodness.

I am a worship leader and so when I listen to praise/worship songs I am always on guard what the lyrics are conveying, is it biblically sound etc.
And this song, ‘Praise’ by elevation worship is my absolute favorite ever since I discovered it on RUclips a few months ago. I sing it or listen to it almost everyday. This is a great praise song.
I cannot agree with the things that you are accusing them of. Like a lot of commenters already said, we are talking about spiritual enemies here, i.e. the evil spirits, principalities etc. Not physical enemies (human). No, our enemy is never a human being (even though they could be used by the evil ones to hurt us)
The lyric is beautiful, it reminds me of when the Israelites walking through the Red Sea when the Egyptians were drown.
I appreciate that you bring up these topics and so people are more aware of the theology these worship songs are preaching, but this song is really not what you are saying.

And even on a secular level, people have political enemies who seek to persecute, jail, bankrupt, etc. them. We see it in our country nowadays, and it’s certainly true in foreign countries that are communist, dictator rule, etc. It is beyond naive to claim that people are never the enemies of other people. Even David cried out to God to be saved from his enemies, by which he meant other people.

And yes we do have human enemies but there’s a difference between ‘they treat me as their enemy’ vs ‘we treat each other as enemies’. If you know what I mean. What did Jesus do to His enemies? He prayed for them. He didn’t pray for his enemies to get drowned.

Brother, you do err by not knowing the Scriptures! 1 Samuel 16:13 “… David took the harp and played it with his hand, so Saul would find relief and it would be good for him, and the evil spirit would depart from him.” AND THE EVIL SPIRIT WOULD DEPART FROM HIM! What is it about this verse that you do not understand? David was clearly using his God-given ability to drive away the evil spirit.
Are you implying that if David were also praising and worshiping God while he was playing the harp that it would somehow eliminate the effectiveness of David’s playing to drive away the evil spirit? If you read this passage you will also see that it does not say that God removed or dismissed the evil spirit. You can read into it as much as you want but the passage clearly states that the evil spirit departed as a result of David’s playing the harp. It does not say God removed or dismissed the evil, it states that David’s playing caused the evil spirit to depart.
This passage clearly reveals the power of music and who is to say that that power is not multiplied when we add praise and worship to the songs that glorify the creator of the heavens and earth?
It should be understood without saying that music can also cause great harm as we see from these satanic metal bands that lead many of our youth to suicide and murder.
The lyrics are clearly intended for the spiritual realm since believers are spiritual beings and understand the spiritual realm. As Christians we should all know this. Our enemy is in the spiritual realm and is more often than not manifested in the physical. It’s not people, it’s the adversary working through and influencing people.
When we pray to our great intercessor, he does not take people out, he works through the spiritual realm and addresses the demons at work.
Furthermore, you are leaving out the fact that this is very clearly a metaphor.
YES, The Bible clearly declares that music can drive away evil spirits as we see in first Samuel 16 with David playing the harp!
And again who is to say that adding praise and worship to music would not amplify its effectiveness?
The lyrics of the song “Praise” stand correctly!
Furthermore, where in the Bible does it state that God can no longer perform miracles similar to the ones that He performed in the Old Testament? And who is to say that one miracle supersedes another?
It’s so sad when Christians put God in a box!

The phrase "Praise is the water that my enemies drown in" is a metaphorical expression that conveys the idea that when we choose to praise and worship God in the midst of difficulties or when facing enemies, it can bring about their defeat or downfall. In the Bible, we see examples of praise leading to victory, such as in the story of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, where the people praised God and their enemies were defeated without them having to fight. Praise can shift our focus from our problems to God's power, and in doing so, it can bring about deliverance and triumph over our adversaries.

A few weeks ago, I was at a Prophetic Conference and I had a tough time focusing on the service because the enemy kept filling my mind with negative thoughts. (I was also fasting at the time.) In a still small voice, I heard the Lord say “Worship Me” and when I started worshiping, the negative thoughts stopped immediately. It was amazing! I literally saw a vision of a group of demons screaming in pain and covering their ears because they hated my praise.
Another situation happened where two of my friends in the body of Christ got into an argument. It was bad! I heard the voice of the Lord say “Worship Me”. I responded “Lord, how can I do that in this environment?” I heard Him say it again “Worship Me”. So I began to sing “I will exalt you” and 30 seconds later, these women apologized to each other and held hands and prayed. I felt a powerful wave of the Holy Spirit. The Lord taught me Praising Him destroys the attacks of the demonic spirits.
This is why I love that verse “My praise is the water my enemies drown in”. Worship is a spiritual warfare tool that we can use against the enemy. It’s so effective. I understand the importance of being biblically and theologically accurate but I know what my Heavenly Father said. Worship is a weapon!

Depression comes to kill, steal and destroy, just like its escort-Satan. I know that if I want to be rescued from that demon I need ONLY music that will speak to my spirit, not my emotions. Praise and worship to my ABBA lifts my soul (mind, will and emotions), and spirit UP to God, and elevates my soul and spirit above the warfare that Satan has waged against me. If I listen to music that appeals to my emotions when depression tries to overtake me, I’m only continuing to feed my emotions. I can’t trust my emotions. My first thought on this song was "don't they run their lyrics by anyone?" but then I realize that their pastors are probably preaching these same unbiblical ideas. Words matter. I'm not sure Jesus would be called The Word if words didn't matter. We need to be careful with what we teach through music because that sticks with us more than a sermon.

Matthew 21:29 “"Do You hear what these children are saying?" they asked. "Yes," Jesus answered. "Have you never read: 'From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise'?"”
This part of the song brings these verses to life by using the imagery of Pharaoh and his horsemen drowning in the Red Sea.
Of course literal walls like Jericho aren’t going to fall or the Mediterranean parted for anyone today, but God showed us the magnitude of victory in Praise, and all of our victories are spiritual because “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12

It’s actually in the Bible in2 chronicles 20. They were praising God and God send the ambushes against the enemies.
20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” 21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his[c] holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:
    “Give thanks to the Lord,
    for his love endures forever.”
22 As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. 23 The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

@@Sanddollar1 I have to respectfully disagree. It's not a statement of manipulation like saying "Hey, praise God and you'll get this."
It's just a declaration of truth. Like saying "Draw near to God and the enemy will flee you."
Even when the believer comes to God with no other intention, except to praise and worship him, they will ALWAYS receive something in return just because God is who he is. Everything about him is inherently unselfish and giving. They will receive things as a natural byproduct of his nature (love, protection, provision). They don't have to use praise as a means to an end . Praise, in and of itself, ushers us into God's presence where these things are freely given.
We should always draw near to God to know him, to be with him, but the truth is, when you do that, something does occur! It's the natural byproduct of being in God's presence, the enemy must flee (Satan).
In the same way, we have these enemies of the mind. Satan's lies (doubt, fear, insecurity, worry, etc...).
When you praise God for who he is, it's just the natural byproduct of our praise ( the protective, mighty presence of God), that his presence DROWNS out all of the lies, all those enemies of the mind. "Not by might, nor by power, but by my SPIRIT, says the LORD".
Thanksgiving and PRAISE is where the believer will find the power to overcome the enemy period. It is in his presence that we bear the full armor of God.
And we are in fact called to bring these enemies into the very presence of God, so he can deal with them, not us.
Jesus said, "Apart from me, you can do nothing!" Scripture says "Cast all of your anxiety on the Lord, because he cares for you.
We enter into his gates (his presence) with Thanksgiving and PRAISE! Once there, the believer will be flooded by God's presence, where the enemy cannot stand. The believer won't drown or be overcome by his presence (maybe overwhelmed, but not overcome). Being flooded by God's presence DROWNS out the enemies lies.
This is a powerful line for those who battle with doubt, fears, depression, etc... These are real enemies.
I think Satan sits back and laughs when Christians try to diminish the power & protection they will find in the presence of God, which we enter into through Thanksgiving & Praise. He knows that it is there that he and his lies must flee. So he causes Christians to split hairs over a metaphor in order to keep us from thinking we actually can overcome the enemies lies and HIS manipulations through praising God.
Only when we praise God & enter into his presence will we ever find the victory. It's not manipulative to want God to free us from bondage, to meet us with his presence & his truths. God wants to fight our battles & yes, he wants to drown out all the lies of the evil one (our true enemy).
We need to be careful that in our zeal to protect that which we love, we don't become a tool in the enemies hand like Peter and try to keep our Lord from saving us from Satan's lies.

So, I like this song and appreciate your review of it. It sounds like most of the issue is with just wording in certain ways which is more a writer's preference. I don't disagree that some of it could've been worded better. However, I've always taken the 'drown' to be that our praise will overflow and drown out our enemies (not physically harm them). It will make it so that no matter how much they try to hurt or harm us, we lift up praise disregard it, and keep going knowing God is in control. We lift up our trouble to the Lord. I've never taken it as them saying we could physically have our enemies drowned by praising God. As for praise being a weapon, a weapon can be offensive or defensive, if we use praise to help defend us from doubt, fear, etc...can it not be viewed as the equivalency of a weapon that we are using to defend against these thoughts? For instance, I recommend when a brother/sister is struggling that, they turn on worship music and sing along to lift up the struggle to God. I recommend this for two reasons 1) it's never bad to praise God and 2) it gives them something mental and physical to help focus them in their struggle to God that can help lead them into prayer. In essence, I've treated praise as a spiritual weapon involved in spiritual warfare. It would be interesting for you to get the writer(s) of the song on and pick their brain about the lyrics. It could lead to some interesting conversations. Just some thought from a brother, I really appreciate this video and your response to it, and agree maybe some of it could be better worded.

Several examples in the Bible attest to this: the people of Israel before the walls of Jerico, the case of 2 Chronicles 20:22 ("And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab , and mount Seir")... In the New Testament, there is the case of Paul and Silas in the prison in Acts 16:25-26: "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone's chains came loose".

(3:13) The walls of jericho were brought down through praise and this action was very necessary in a sense where it was really important for them pass to pass through the city and this was made possible through praise. Note this: Also, praise is what we do to secure victory in any battle; by engaging in praise, we transfer our battles to Him (2 Chronicles 20:20-24). It is a God-given weapon in our hands, with which to humiliate the devil. So the "cause praise is the waters my enenmis drown in" is metaphorical. let's not see as Denotative but in a Connotative way."Waters" in that sentence is the the way of thier downfall and the "Enemies" stands for all those who want my harm in God's due time.

What you said about 2nd Chronicles is not correct. Read the whole chapter. They did not win the battle because they were worshiping God. @jesseviers487 genuine question, how could you not consider their praise being as a weapon. Because of their praise amd trust in the LORD, He caused the Ammonites etc to fight against themselves amd kill each other. It seems to me that their praise gave way to display their trust because they had the worshippers in the front lines. Of course God doesn't need us to praise so that he can do miraculous things, but that praiseis the displaying of their faith in God which is why he did deliver them in that battle.

    • @jesseviers487
      @jesseviers487 Год назад +1

@@MFogg150 that’s a good question. I’d say because in the passage God told them He would fight for them before the praises began on the battlefield. There is nothing that suggests they won because of their singing. And just the purpose of worship as seen in the Bible does not match up with this narrative of it being a weapon. Paul tells us in church to teach and edify each other with hymns and songs. And worship through music is sung prayer and adoration for God. I think saying that the people’s praise in the passage caused them to win or acted as a weapon is a stretch and is creating theology that isn’t there

    • @RLslane
      @RLslane Год назад +1

@@MFogg150another perspective to address your question is the fact that it isn’t listed as one of the weapons for the armor of God in Ephesians 6:
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬, ‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬
I’ve personally been convicted recently to take God’s Word literally, so even though I neither consider myself a cessationist or a charismatic, I agree with Allen on this topic - we must have the utmost highest standards for the music we bring to God in our praise and worship. Satan, before He rebelled, was in charge of praise and worship in Heaven, so it shouldn’t surprise us that he would try to also poison our worship with tiny falsehoods in our music.

"It is just a song." "It is just one mistake." "It is just a metaphor." Once we start letting them slide, without strict theological examination based on the Scripture, then we will become numb but valuing our feelings more than what is true according to the Word of God. Even non-christians can show up to a church building, sing some hype songs with others, and feel better temporarily. And it can absolutely make the church prideful and go sideways. I learned this in a hard way when I was serving as a worship leader. I would love to watch writers of this song responding to pointers of this video although I don't think they would do that for obvious reasons. Listen to Shane & Shane's You've Already Won then listen to Praise by Elevation worship. If you know the Bible, you would see a massive difference theologically and even spiritually.

I can appreciate being discerning 100%. I can also think of a time several years ago as I was getting ready to leave my corporate job to pursue full time ministry. I was asleep in bed and woke up feeling like I was literally being strangled and pinned to my bed. I knew it was demonic. I had never experienced anything like it before. As I continued to pray for relief it would lift and then come back. 6 times it came back and then I cried out to the Lord and finally asked what else can I do to make this stop. Immediately I heard Holy Spirit say play worship music. Thankfully I could still speak enough to shout for Alexa to play worship music (it was a Bethel song), I could not physically move. Immediately as the worship song played, whatever it was, it lifted and never came back. God’s peace came over me. It was absolutely the worship that stopped the attack from the enemy. From then on I have used worship to war against spiritual attacks of the enemy. Not saying it is a miracle pill for everyone, but it has definitely been effective in my life in warring against the enemy!

3:35 I really appreciate your caution, as a musician one thing I've learned about leading worship is that it's so easy to let worship become a "me" thing and not a "God" thing so to speak (hence why "Heart of Worship" by Matt Redman is one of my favorites), also that so many Christians (myself included) can be trapped in the whole "this sounds good and it mentions God so it must be good". What comes to mind for me about this song is the passage Proverbs 25:22 which says "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.", which isn't encouraging that phrase "kill them with kindness" in having joy that someone suffers because of our righteousness. This passage and part of the song are saying the same thing, that though our enemies may try to harm us, all we must do is praise the Lord and let Him do what He wills with it. If He defeats our enemies, we praise the Lord that He (not us) is victorious over His (not ours ultimately) enemies and if He uses our praise and righteousness to save our enemies, then we have gained a brother and we praise God together.

Everything he says is true in this video, he’s not looking for attention he’s calling out what he needs to call out. If a song is biblically inaccurate it’s not a good song. In another elevation song they sing “I have resurrection power, yes I do”, that’s false, we do not have resurrection power, only God holds that, not sinful man. God wants perfection, why do you think God is praised for being holy?! Because holy is perfection, and God is perfection, if we are supposed to live in his imagine after our likeness, then his likeness is holiness, so shouldn’t that be ours? Instead we sit around and people like you who think that since Elevation is this massive church they can’t be wrong right? Wrong. They can for sure be wrong, they have proven that again and again. All of the stories in the Old Testament is a prelude to the New Testament. No we don’t have physical fights like the Israelites do but best believe we have fights that if you trace it, the origin is certainly spiritual
I will always say there has to be a balance. We can’t be too spiritual where we lose all sense and we can’t be too sensible where we can’t discern spiritual warfare, prophecy etc.

Did your praise defeat the enemy or did God. See when we being to see our praise as defeating the enemy, we begin to think it’s something we did and we should be God reliant not self reliant. You praise pleased God and so God moved on your behalf. It takes the focus off you and puts it on God. You did nothing, God did everything and God didn’t do it because you praised because that would indicate that you caused Gpd to move when God was going to move on your behalf. It’s like forgiveness, we don’t repent because we want forgiveness because God has forgiven us. We repent to express humility and dependence. God doesn’t need us, we need him

@@007babyren i believe God is all-knowing. He knows what he’s going to do before we even know there is a situation. He’s in the past, present, and future at the same time -omnipresent. Our prayers, praise and worship is simply a sign of our humility, surrender, and gratitude. Let’s take the example of Abraham negotiating with God for Sodom and Gomorrah. I think God was humoring Abraham because He already knew what was to be because he already knew he wasn’t going to find the number of people that Abraham was negotiating for. To say God responds to our petitions would imply God doesn’t know what his move is going to be until we make our move. Or that what he does is based on our actions, that is false. God moves irrespective of what we do and don’t do. God chooses who to bless. That is why he blesses some unbelievers with great blessings and some believers get theirs in heaven. His ways and thoughts are far above ours so i think it would be foolish to assume that we can get God to do things based on our actions. We pray, praise and worship because that is what we were created to do.

8 But he saved them, as he had promised, in order to show his great power.
9 He gave a command to the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led his people across on dry land.
10 He saved them from those who hated them; he rescued them from their enemies.

Praise is the water my enemies drown in “ means exactly what it says. This shouldn’t be a debate or a confusion to anyone who walks with God and is confident in His ability. God moves mightily during praise. It’s not literal drowning it’s God making his people victorious over their enemies. Listening to some of your arguments just highlights your limited knowledge about who God really is and how He works. Yes God can do the impossible when we trust him and praise Him. The song is biblical and very much Godly☺️

God moves mightily on His own accord. Not as a result of praise. Also, he doesn’t promise victorious outcomes for His children unless you define victorious as the end result: eternity with Him.

@pamelameier4946 God is moved by faith, and praise is one way we express our faith in Him. He also always leads us to triumph because that is who He is. If He is the God of victory, why would eternity with Him/ Him with us be different? He never changes. Thing is, it doesn't always look how we think it should, but our minds are getting renewed.

You shared my thoughts exactly. Praise God for who He is. Praise God in the good times and the bad. It's uplifting and defeats the enemies in your life.

Hi brother Allen. I'm Karani from Kenya. Thank you for this channel. It has had a huge impact on my spiritual growth.
My wife asked me this question and this is how I answered. Psalms 23:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
For me, enemies meant addictions, evil thoughts and other forms of sin. Where God is, His power is also there and all power of the enemy is defeated. That's how I see it

I see a lot of people trying to accuse Steven furtick of being a false teacher but every explanation I hear I don’t really agree with. When I hit rock bottom I didn’t know Jesus at all. A Steven furtick video came across my timeline and I watched it and gave my life to Jesus. My life drastically started to change. I feel the Holy Spirit when I hear these songs. They help me and I feel like I am truly worshipping God with lyrics inspired by the stories of the Bible. I would dare to argue anyone who is gifted enough from God to create such a big church community because people are moved by the ways they are preaching from the Bible, people are going to be jealous. Jesus had a lot of people that wanted to listen to Him and people hated it too. And praise is the water my enemies drown in reminds me of worship being our greatest weapon against

And your enemies are people? That’s interesting. Because the Bible tells us that this is not a battle against flesh and blood but of the spirit. Even the people that you have problems with it’s not really the person, it’s something attached to them. For example a spirit the produces jealousy in someone. Which I feel like a lot of people that are hating on people making worship music that lifts people up are showing. Why don’t we go after the songs that majority of people are listening to that are encouraging actual violence rather than attacking a lyric about worship being a spiritual weapon against evil 😂

As Christian’s we should understand that other Christian’s are still human and can make mistakes and we should correct each other yes, but always with encouragement and lifting up other Christian’s.

I agree because if Bible Verses are sung in any song , hymn, that is all over the Bible even in what Alan just used. The sword Paul.speaks of is the Word of God..
Just reading thru Ephesians.. Just a quick run thru... 5:16 -20 He tells us about the evil days and to be filled with the spirit 19 Tells us to sing and say psalms.. and be thankful.
Filled wit spirit to fight evil days or tines sing songs of praise.from the spirit... v.19
.oh all of it about singing to the Lord because of evil days..
      Also as Alan used Ephesians 6:10 - 17 or even 18 - 20
17: the sword of the sword of the Spirit, is the Word of God.. I've learned this it also in Revelations too ...That is how we fight our battles against the real enemy..

I'm more concerned with anyone even Alan I do like saying there isn't any proof in the Bible we can use praises or songs of scriptures to fight against our enemy the devil.
Say outloud and believe that Greater is He living in Me than He in the world. They flee
I do see this songs particular lyrics as being confusing to one not saved and that doesn't know the Holy Spirit.. I do believe it is for believers and non believers will want to know..

What's wrong about that song? I don't see anything wrong about it. I read all the lyrics one by one and I really don't think I should stop singing that song. I love it so much ❤ Praise the Lord oh my soul🙌

Yes but Exodus was a physical enemy (Egyptians). The closest example to that in todays history is what is happening in Gaza!!! We wouldn't want to wish what's happening there on anyone!!! How about a lyric like "Praise is the water my spirit is quenched in" and "My praise is the shout, that brings all of the walls down"....Jericho is in the West Bank!! I'd love to hear what folks think alternate lyrics could be. Let's keep the focus on God. Thank you Allen for challenging us all!

    Love for Enemies
