I am a retired teacher and in the US and this kind of parental behavior was frequent. I am THRILLED the ship left without them. They had no legitimate excuse for not arriving on time.

That's why you do ship excursions too. I know it's not the case here, and yes they might cost a little more, but at least you have that reassurance that the ship won't leave without you

Everyone else gets back on time, these same people are late to appointments, work, shows, school etc and always have an excuse. Guess they learned they aren’t as special as they thought because they got left.

Please stop spreading misinformation about Australia. First of all Virgin had a very successful season here and the reason for the cancellation of the next season was due to the trouble in the Middle East. 2. The tax increase by ports was like $2 per passenger. USA ports have also increased their taxes too but where is the reporting? 3. Yes produce can cost more, however the average income is higher in Australia, so the cruise lines., are changing us more. The UK it is expensive too. Australia is so far away from the rest of the world and that alone contributes to the issues.
The story about the Teenager, in the majority of the world 18 is an adult, no kid.😮

My friend had fallen on her first cruise and broke her wrist because she didn't see a step down to the bathroom. She stayed on the cruise but cruise line didn't charge her for the visit to their emergency room because there was no sign saying watch your step. Newer ships don't seem to have those issues. Be careful out there.

Hi Don, not sure about P&O Australia being around for 90+ years, maybe wrong but we cruised in 1985 on the only cruise ship in Australia which was the Fabulous Fairstar & at that time it was still registered to Sitmar cruise lines. Love your information every day & always look forward to your daily videos, kept us going especially through covid. As Australians we are very disappointed with what is happening to the cruise industry in Australia & the Pacific Islands. Unfortunately all of this is making cruising very cost prohibitive for Aussies as we now have to add an international airfare, so sad

I think the people who follow cruising on RUclips are not only at an advantage, they're living in a different world. If a person, just out of the blue, decided to take a cruise with doing no research, would be totally in the dark about what to expect. And even after boarding there would still be a huge learning curve.
Instead of making people watch the safety video 15 times, they should require 100 hours of youtube cruise videos.

On a cruise with some savvy Aussies who made it clear that the P&O ships were ancient and unpleasant to travel on. Good riddance they said.
And we're booked on an Australian cruise mid-2025 which is a NEW itinerary for the line...and they've added to their classic Kimberley itinerary. I know...apples and oranges comparing large to small ships. But perhaps the Australian government is trying to make a point about the negatives of large ships for their country..

Lucky for the parents that the teen went back. Would have cost them more to fly three people to next port. But story has holes in it without knowing the age. Would a cruise ship sail say if this teen was 13? They should be able to tell that a child was on board but parents weren’t? Did the teen even report that their parents were not on board? If it was an older teen say 16-19 they probably had a blast with no parents.
