You just made me feel so much better as a black pagoda owner. She's never bloomed for me but her leaves are super healthy and is always producing new leaves.
Just bought my first lipstick plant today and came home to this video! Perfect timing! Thanks! ☺️
Yay! Congrats! I love when the timing works out perfectly that way 🙌🏽
Right?!? I swear its spidey plant senses because i just got one last week too!
I just bought a black pagoda! I had no idea how gorgeous these plants are, I am so excited! Your videos are always welcome and helpful!!
Thanks Harli! You have the greatest personality 😁😉
Loved this video, I definitely love when you do individual plant care videos. It really helps with new and experienced plant enthusiasts.
Literally searched your channel for a lipstick plant care video like last week and was shocked that you didn't have one yet because you talk about how much you love them so much lol thanks for the video!
I just love your personality.❤️
Thank you Violet, I have a lot of fun with these videos!
You're just too cute loving on your plants ! I'm glad to know I'm not alone! Lol !! Great info on a plant that I haven't seemed to make totally happy yet . It's just sitting there staring at me 👀 not doing much ! Thanks Harli !!
The lovier we are to them, the better they grow :P
Omg! Literally bought one the day the video came out! Perfect timing. Love this vid
Jessie B yay! 🙌🏽 thank you for watching!
Perfect timing. I have just acquired a lipstick plant. Aeschynanthus firecracker is what it was labeled as. It is yet to bloom but we are in winter here in New Zealand but he is happy as sitting pretty in my super sunny dry living room. Soon becoming a favourite.
Hiya! This is my first video of yours to watch! You have a fun personality and I can tell you really love plants! I just picked up the Cassiopeia variety and she is so lovely! My fave! Thanks for all the great info!
Harli g, I'm a starting youtuber and I'm from Utah as well. I currently reside in salt lake city, and you totally inspired me to get more house plants and act on the fact that I want a jungle in my house, love your videos!.
i’m on a binge of your videos and they’re all so entertaining and helpful! i’m new to houseplants and i’ve already reached a point that is concerning to my friends!!!!!!!!!
Yay - Perfect timing! I just picked up a Black Pagoda variety and needed this.
Congrats on the new plant & thanks for watching!
I just ordered a Black Pagoda Lipstick Plant. I was looking for it for a long time and finally found one. 😍
Your so pretty 🦋 and I love your plant selfies! Queen of the plant selfie 👑🌿
I have a Cassiopeia which I bought on a snowy day. When I was taking it home all the leaves got spotty from the snow. She’s reviving and she just bloomed for the first time since last year. I’m a happy camper. Thanks for tips. I have her next to a south west window.
I just received my first Lipstick plant in the mail. It's a small pot but about ten plants in the pot. I'm excited.
I love my lipstick plants! They are epiphytes and therefore prefer a loose potting medium. I have mine growing in equal parts, perlite, coconut bark and seed & cuttings soil. In my experience Lipstick plants like being a little bit rootbound/tight in their pot.
Thank you SO much!!! I've been looking everywhere specifically for soil preferences of Lipstick plants. I've read some vague info but it was a little confusing because, as you said, they are epiphytic but I've only seen suggestions of peaty but well draining soil so it just wasn't adding up for me (or at least not entirely clear). I was hoping to get a little more soil tips in the video (I appreciate the information I did get) but I'm happy to find it in the comments instead. I just purchased a mature Black Pagoda and was thinking it might do well in a bark heavy aroid mix. Does that sound about right?
I got the variegated one like you have recently and it’s so beautiful! Mine has very little variegation though so I’m hoping keeping it in the brightest spot in my house will help! I think I’m gonna try and propagate and maybe that will encourage some more variegated growth ☺️ either way, I’m obsessed lol!
A lipstick plant has been on my wish list ever since I saw a video about how much you LOVED yours! I couldn’t find one local to me in the UK. I went to a nursery today & found the Rasta lipstick plant... in bloom!! I’m so glad I now have one in my collection she’s stunning! Thank you so much for this video; very helpful. Thank you for sharing your passion with us all. You were the one that got me hooked on a plant addiction! 😂❤️ - Vicky
OMG YAY! CONGRATS! That's so exciting!
I JUST impulse bought a variegated lipstick plant so the timing of this video was perfect! So good to know it will be okay in my drrrrrryy Colorado apartment! Thank you!!
Oh heck yes! Congrats on the new plant the V. Lipstick is gorgeous huh (:
I just got a black pagoda because of you!! It’s so cool
Dear Harli G ,I am, so happy to find your video! Thank you for your great interduction how to keep plant happy!
I L O V E my lipstick plant and she know it! I “ talk” to her several times in the day and tell how much she make me happy. Now is middle of January but : she is in full bloom! I wish if I CAN SEND TO you photo OF HER ( and her smile!!!!🥰)
I cut few weeks ago some small brunches and put them in the water. And guess what ? EACH HAVE BUD!!!!!
Thank you once again! Sincerely ,Ana 👍👏🏻♥️😂🇭🇷
I believe I have the Cassiopia variety too, but it hasn't bloomed yet. It's a new addition to my plant family and is above my bed too, in a south-facing window. So now, I have to see how it does and look for other varieties. Thank you, Harli for the informative video.
I loooove my black pagoda. Great video, thanks for sharing!
They are so beautiful! Thank you for watching!
This is so amazing, I've been thinking of getting one to add to my growing plant collection :)
Amber E you should! They are fun plants to care for!
I snagged a black pagoda at J and J last week! I absolutely love it!
They really are such good little planties. ♥️
I just watched your video unboxing your plants from Steve's Leaves, went to the website and ended up spending almost $100 for some lovely plants!
Bless you! My twisted lipstick has been struggling and i cant for the life figure out why. Now I believe I have it too close to the window! Great timing love you most!
Ooh I have a twisted lipstick plant too but like the newer leaves aren't curly but flat, will they curl later or is there something wrong with my plant?
Omg thank you so much I just found out what kind a plant I have, it’s Aeschynantus Cassiopeia.
Hi Harley, my little niece says you are a Disney princess, I asked which one but she is fast asleep. So suddenly! Thanks for the info, I think I have cutting rooting in water. Sending big smiles from Scotland 🌺Tish
Your videos always make me wish I had more local plant shops 😫
Aw I hope some open up around you!
@@HarliG I have some, but not enough!!! :)
Heather de Greeff me too!
Just found a little black pagoda lipstick today, SO flipping excited. Just a wee 4" pot but I'll take what I can find!!
Thank you for always brightening my day with your videos c:
I have the variegated one and non variegated and the variegated is such a fast grower, I was shocked.
They are great little plants, non fussy just bright light and keep sort of moist
I'm so happy you made a video about lipsticks. They're my favorite (I have way too many) Thank you!
I want to get more, but they aren't available very often around me!
You’re awesome 🥰
Thanks for the info.
Hellll yes this came at the perfect time i just got a mona lisa last week!!!!
Oh heck yeah! I love when the timing works out that way!
I didn't know what I had. My plant was getting a little leggy and I stuck it in a north window and crossed my fingers. It started putting on blooms and I had at least a hundred lasting all winter here in Michigan! I'm propagating now and it has turned in to a beautiful full plant.
I never had plants until I retired and I know NOTHING about anything but I love them!!!
L 🍓 V E ! i have the "lipstick monalisa, twister & purple star". my fave is the monalisa. awesome informative vid! thanks ms. harli g. hope you have a fun weekend ahead! xxo 💚
OH! I want the purple star! You have a nice weekend also, thank you so much!
You read my mind on this video lol. Just picked up a Black Pagoda from Cact and Trops last week! I would love it if you did more care videos like this :) *cough* Alocsia Amazonica/Polly *cough* string of hooks/bananas *cough* :)
Just brought my first. Thanks for the tips
You're so rad, honestly!! We are so similar lol one of your other videos you spoke about how you are a hermit and will even hide when the post man comes lol i do the exact same thing, every time lol Also, anytime i need some info on another type of plant, i you to your channel and bam, its right there. So thank you! For loving plants and being so informative and a touch silly. You have totally inspired me to grow my at home jungle!! I deal with a lot of not too bright of spaces so i am quite limited i feel, but i am learning!! Getting a lipstick plant today for one of the sunnier spots in my place! Also, do you have a fiddle leaf fig anywhere in there?!
I too love the lipstick plant, I got the Black Pagoda last year and she has been doing great, I have one other variety of lipstick that I am not sure of, the leaves are smaller and they always have been from the time my ex-husband got it for me as a gift, and in a 4 inch pot, it is now in a 6 inch pot and three times it's original size, it blooms all the time. The variegated one is on my wish list. I'm with you Harli, I love these plants, and will be looking for the variegated one and also the larger leaf one as well. I love my black Pagoda but the flowers aren't very impressive, I mostly got it because of the leaves and how cool they look. I find them very easy to take care of, mine are near a window but do not get direct sun and they love it, both of mine are near a north facing window, I also live in Idaho. I water mine when I know the soil is dry, I guess I have done it for so long this way because I know my plants, what works for me may not work for someone else, this is just how I do it. Thanks Harli see you soon, bye for now.
I bought a Mona Lisa lipstick plant only because you are so crazy about your lipstick plant! The blooms are completely red and gorgeous. All of my windows face north and it’s still doing well!! Really Resilient and Beautiful plant. ❤️❤️❤️
Gostava que falasse em português
excellent advice!
Thanks so much for sharing information about the lipstick plant. I don't own one yet but hope to get one in my collection soon. Have a blessed day😊👍❤.
I hope you're able to find one. Thank you for watching! (:
i just got my first blooms after 7 months of having a lipstick plant!
I don’t have lipstick plant yet, but after seeing your video I’m gonna hunt for the variegated and the black pagoda. Pretty plants, thank you for sharing.👌❤️😘
I have my fingers crossed you find them soon! (: Thank you for watching
Thank you for your video. It was really informative. I have the Aeschynanthus radicans 'Rasta'.
great video!
Great information!!
Thank you for watchibg
Love your enthusiasm about lipstick plants.. I swear we have a black pagoda and its blooms are orange. It actually in bloom right now. Îts funny how some branches cascade and some grow straight up.
WOW. Can I please say thank you? That was such an educational video on the lipstick plant no matter what variety you have!! I appreciate you.🤓 Btw, my new lipstick plant is called Myra.
Yesss thank you! My Variegata is coming next week so this is perfect!
yay! They are beautiful! Congrats on your new plant (:
Chi Le, who do you order from?
Great video 👍
I've been using that same fertilizer and my plants have been growing like crazy! 😍
They love it! Mine have as well! I definitely recommend everyone gives it a go
I couldn't get the name of the fertilizer. Could you write it out? Thank you.
It's Alaska brand fish fertilizer
Thank you for this Info..
Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you so much ☺️
I’d love for you to do a care video on Bird of Paradise. I got a young one several weeks ago and it’s just now giving me a new leaf. I’d love to learn more on their care. And I also use the fish fertilizer, the smell definitely is pungent.
Thank you
Your 'Black Pagoda' isn't a 'Black Pagoda' - it's just A. longicaulis. 'Black Pagoda' is a hybrid, it has the foliage of longicaulis but instead of the plain jane green flowers it has lovely red and orange flowers :-) Your information about growing them is excellent. I would only add that because they are epiphytic, well draining soil is important, I use a blend of potting mix, coarse pumice and orchid bark. I have three different Aeschynanthus, they all grow pretty fast, really rewarding plants.
I have a curly lipstick and a Variegated lipstick, such beautiful plants. I water all my plants with my aquarium water. 🤩
Shawna Holloway ohhh! I bet they love that!
Is aquarium water good for calathea?
@@laurenbriggs5552 yep, I water all my plants with it. ☺️
Shawna Holloway I’m new to this whole plant thing. Where do you get aquarium water?
@@laurenbriggs5552 yes!
How did you know!! They’ve been on my mind allllll day and I know where such a full gorgeous one lives in my local nursery.... oh the temptation
Danielle doooo itttttt 😜
Lol well actually.... I did lol. Not the full one but I found a (completely drowned) variegated one at Home Depot and went on a rescue mission! Fingers crossed he pulls through
I have a Black Pagoda. It’s one of my favorite plants! It’s beautiful and in my experience very easy going.
Yes! I completely agree with you!
Thank you!!!
Thanks for watching! (:
Hi Harli! I have a video suggestion if you're up for it: how to propagate begonias by leaf vein cutting. I've read about it but don't have any begonias to try it myself. Just a thought 😉 Take care lovely! 💚🌿
I love your plantshopping og haul vids! Can you do more?
I will do more ASAP! I haven't been feeling well so it's been tough to get out & shop! But this month I plan to more (:
I just got a black pagodato ight..omg they are so beautiful
My black pagoda is probably one of my all time favorites in my collection! The leaf variegation is stunning! Dose anyone know if it’s ok to pot them in terra-cotta?
Hi i love all your collection of plants....from Philippines
DogLover #BuhayOperator hi! Thank you for watching ❤️
Your welcome....I do love collecting plants too...
So cute
I like this human they have good taste in plants
I just got a lipstick plant from my grandparents which have been forgotten for over 10 years, its still alive but need some tlc.
It have flowered every year even without care and minimal of water, once or twice a month.
Anything special I should do to give it a good start?
I will repot it tomorrow and clean it up a bit.
I'm loving the pagoda lipstick plant I got from you guys. I put my curly one outside. It gets like an hour or 2 of morning sun the shade the rest of the day. Its seems to be loving it but it's like way hotter than 80 here at this point. I wonder if it will be ok?
I just got a twister lipstick plant last night at Kroger. My first one. 😁
I love you so much. makes my day to share in plant love. thanks for all you do! P.s I'm glad we're using the same fish fertilizer so now I'm more confident in it being a good product. I killed a few succulents with a certain fertilizer, do you use espoma for them or fish too? thanks!
Jay Mad I use the fish one for the succulents as well 😊
@@HarliG another lady recommended a Neptune's fish fertilizer-2-4-1, have you used it?
I am curiouse why do you not have any humidifiers? You have made such an investment already in your leaf babies. I just bought a little rooted 2" rooted plant off of Etsy. So this video is wonderful to guide me me in providing a wonderful environment for it to survive in. Absolutely live your videos. You are such a good human!!!🌸🌺🍀
goldfish plants are my FAVE!! their leaves are so tiny and shiny and cute and the blooms are even CUTER!
How do you prevent pests? Do you apply a Neem Oil mixture to your Lipstick plants? How do you do it? Do you avoid the flowers or can you spray them too? Thanks so much for your videos!!
Hi! I am trying to get my new lipstick plant Cassiopeia the correct conditions and lighting. I'm wondering whether I can put it under a grow light? Or would that also produce brown spots on the leaves just like direct sunlight? My grow light produces red and blue light only I believe ... thanks so much for your tips on growing this cool plant!!
Hey Harli! Thanks for your video, so entertaining as usual but also full of information. I have a black pagoda coming my way soon, and I was wondering, what do you recommend for a soil mix for this plant? Thanks!
I keep mine in an airy mix with black gold all purpose soil, orchid bark, & perlite. It has done really well there! The brands I prefer in all of those are linked in the description (:
I have a curly lipstick plant, but from all my plants, this is the only one for which I can't seem to get the watering right! I'm not sure if maybe the soil is too water retentive, but whenever I water it, it takes FOREVER for it to dry out!!! It just sits wet for so long. I guess I need to water it less as well, but this is the only plant where I have this problem. I definitely don't expect any blooms any time soon because of this lol.
Can you tell me the difference between Mona Lisa and Cassiopeia? The blooms and foliage look the same to me. How would one be able to tell the difference? Thanks!
Just bought my first yesterday all I know it’s a variegated one. She is so pretty! Her leaves are lighter green
Hi Harli! I'm wondering what to do with the ends of the plant once they have bloomed. Do I trim off the dead its down to the node?
I do happy watching Harli G videos 😃
HAHAHAHA I do happy you're do happy
Harli' G, when are you going to show your Fern👀! Do you grow or can you grow any indoor Ferns in your zone??? Louie ✌️🌿❤️
I only have 1 fern right now! It is a crocodile fern, but other than that I am not good with ferns:(
Can you do a little video about the dancing dolphin plant. I think they are similar to the lipstick plant but they are kind of fuzzy. Would really appreciate it. Enjoying your videos greatly
These plants are hard to find here in Phoenix, probably because it's so dry here. Thanks so much for sharing!
Carmen Whitehead it’s so crazy how difficult it is to get certain varieties place by place 😭
It sure is Carmen! I'm trying to add some humidity to a few of mine. Hard to do in in desert.
Can u do a video on begonias? I saw your begonias and they’re beautiful!
I think you were thinking “do well” and “are happy” at the same time and the beautiful mix “do happy” was born 😂
HAHAHA That makes it make more sense :P
So I just got a lipstick hoya plant and the leaves have little black specks on it. Was trying to figure it out what it could be?
Hello! I just got a variegated radicans (white variegation) and I was wondering what kind of light I should give it? Why are the variegated ones harder btw, you never said why - just that they were harder to care for. Thanks!!
I found my 4 inch variegated basket at the grocery store. It's putting out new growth, but I think it might have scale. Have you ever had any pest issues with yours?
I got a tiny 2" lipstick plant last December at my garden center for free because it was doing poorly. So far it's survived and is probably 4" now! It's only just started to develop secondary branches on it (it barely has 20 leaves!). Can you propagate these similarly to pothos when it gets more mature to have a full plant? I worry about having a super full plant hanging off of a single stem in the dirt.
Harli, where did you get the cassieopeia? I can’t find one online:(
My lipstick plant is always pushing out buds in the summer time but the bright red flowers inside the tubular buds never manage to fully emerge. They will swell and poke out, stay like that and then the tube drops off. It used to be in a very sunny south-facing room, not it's in a shadier spot. Any ideas?
Just inherited my grandmother's lipstick plant! Can you explain the best way to prune?
