I am a Japanese Sword practitioner, the gold part is usually brass and is called the Habaki, the wave on the blade is a metallurgical line where the hard steel on the edge and softer steel on the rest of the blade meet, that's called a Hamon. The Habaki is a brass collar that locks the Tsuba (handguard) in place and holds the sword in the Saya (scabbard). The Hamon is simply a temper line, allot of modern Katana are mono tempered, which results in a much tougher steel, however IME they don't hold an edge as long
Even a bad ninja figure is still a good figure. Just makes it easier to pick this guy up.

Why does everyone hate this version? I think this is the most badass gi joe in a while! The simple white ninja theme is fire ! Don’t follow everyone else’s opinions! The figure is so underrated it’s sad.
When I get my Storm Shadow, I’m probably gonna do a Matte white spray on him to get rid of most of the cream color, and leave a few padded parts the original color. And then add a wash to bring out some of the details.

If nothing else we are getting more unmasked Asian headsculpts between this movie and Shang Chi which works for me for custom and stop motion stuff

I highly recommend hitting this up with some flat clear coat. Can't believe they went cheap and the swords don't have actual sheaths like the film.

Excellent review as always, pointing out the details, it's kind of a bummer that it's not white, but one thing Storm Shadow should never be missing is his bow, according to the old run of comics archery is the only discipline in which Snake Eyes could not best him. Also, they "pulled a Macfarlane" with the sword sheets 🤣🤣🤣🤣 incomplete??? Come on!!!! ✌️😊

The drop-down hinge issue isn't just on yours. My brother has one and the hinge on the right side doesn't wanna function.
They are the same lower legs they used for the arctic StormShadow from amazon.

How did you get your hands on this figure so early!?
People have to remember they are going to put Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow in many movies. They are probably going to have many different outfits so they can make all the different figures for them. I really like the look of this and have all the movie figures on preorder.
After the way this movie bombed, I don't think we'll be seeing them in movies any time soon.

The first snake eyes figure ever made was molded in black cos they ran out of money for paint (and he became the most popular figure) and now they're kinda doing for this storm shadow just wish it was a bit whiter.

I actually wanted this figure just for a storm shadow but after seeing this i do not want him. I’m glad I watched this because he’s not so good in my opinion. Thanks for the review, hopefully we just get a classic one

I've got him on pre-order, but might cancel. This figure is a mild 7 out of 10 for me. I know they'll release a proper stormshadow in classifieds eventually. The new Zartan deluxe comes with his head in white so I feel like it's a teaser for what's to come.
How tall exactly the action figure?
The basic 6" $10 one looks better. I wish they made the suit look like that one

If his outfit were white and he had proper sheaths for his swords like Snake Eyes does I'd have picked him up. I'd love a figure of the ROC/Retaliation design.
They should've cast it in white plastic and added a wash to bring out the details of the sculpt.
The sculpt looks good apart from the weird crotch.

I tried all night to customize this guy. I tried several color changes, several washes, added accents. I cant make none of it look good.

You could actually see Storm Shadow in the trailers fully suited, especially in a 'group shot' in the international trailer I believe? Regardless, the colour of his outfit is definitely a bright white like snow/tissues/the way that Storm Shadow should be. It's a bit of a shame that Hasbro has a bit of a strange history with having movie storm shadow figures in this strange off-white colour as even the 3+3/4 rise of cobra figure was also in that strange tone. I reckon heavy flat white dry brushing could potentially save this figure.
I watched that international trailer today and noticed that. Kicking myself in the ass for not having seen that trailer two days ago. Such a better trailer!

Seeing this new Hasbro storm shadow Def makes me m very happy that bought a articulatedicons white ninja and the even went crazy and got the bare arm set to. Hit up eBay for water decals of a Cobra insignia and Arashikage tattoo/marking. All together with the sale prices spent around $60 total. Yes more then a Hasbro figure but honestly am amazed how well this articulatedicons white ninja looks just like a 3/4 inch storm shadow v1, v19, v30, v31 figure. Granted this new built one is 6 inch highly articulated ninja with numerous hands, weapons, and even head sculpts kíplus a hood as well as a red devil mask so I’m totally ok with the $60 spent and honestly with all the extra accessories I’m sure Hasbro would had jacked up the price from $25 to around $50 to $60 as well. Shame Hasbro hasn’t given us a storm shadow that we all want

@@Super1866 I hope they do it, but at this point they have no plans for it. Not even on the horizon. They haven’t even done the planned operation blackout version yet. The one that’s been on the box art.

@@Super1866 they wanted to create designs for a new generation… but they got feedback on classic/modern interpretations. A little late for Storm shadow… they underestimated his popularity. And the need for a v1 or v2.

Trust me when I say the poses that I have the talent to do, would lead people to not buy. Other reviewers do the picture thing and they have the talent to back it up. It’s just not my forte.
I'm gonna bet 1000 bucks Storm Shadow won't ever wear the mask in the movie at all.
Most of this line as well as marvel legends have thigh swivels look bad given the fact that for some lame reason they insist on turning in the hip joints to rest where if you line up any pant lines they appear to need to pee. The knees are turned in. Then as you want to slightly turn the knees out from the thigh pivot the lines are way off. This figure just really shows this constant defect because of the deep creases in the costume design. WTF is going on? All of this love and work that goes into these figures and they can't find a decent QC person to set them straight?! I don't know if it's ineptitude or just laziness. But it SUCKS! Granted, I am thankful that such figures are being released no matter the design flaws
But yes, they need more hands and could use some head expansion packs with different expressions.

Fair point, but my issue was more the shiny plastic. Snake eyes is all black, but there are different shades, matte areas, and shiny areas.

I don’t think he ever wore his mask in the movie
3/10 for me i sold mine this smoker stained prototype is junk. They severely cut corners 95% not painted used plastic as the color and the design is trash just like the movie. This replace CC being last peg warming to sell. I expect deep discounts..

Hasblow is killing G.I. joe and wtf happened to G.I. JOE june????? Only 4 figures and 2 of them were REdone. Soooo only 2 new figures and both are target exclusive. Wtf is hasbro doing at the HQ????
