- A few years ago, I had a really bad salon experience and had my hair severally heat damaged. Instead of cutting it off, I used clip in extensions that I colored and styled to help get me through. I no longer have color in my hair now, but thought I'd share how I camouflaged the damage. I took really good care of it and trimmed when necessary. Have you experienced color or heat damage?

What brand of clips in do you buy
@@breannajones9044 I think these are from true and pure textures.
You still have bleach in your hair. Maybe not much color but there is still currently bleached areas in the ends. I get it though, just correcting assumptions.
@@frickfrack7075 this video was filmed in 2017...there is no color whatsoever in my hair. Thanks.
@@JessicaPettway my point was its not color, it's bleach. This is the most current video on your shorts. Js.
Big chop? No. However, use the clip-ins while you gradually trim the damage hair.
Yep💕
Yes
Love it!
I just bought this Renpure shampoo with biotin n I really like it. I used it last night n it has my hair so soft n clean feeling. Even got my curls popping except the damaged part from heat damage. I was thinking last night if I wanna cut off the damaged part n I’m like nah maybe when it grow more lol or it’s not? I take vitamins etc too
Okay gotchu, thanks y'all🫶🏾
she lived more in her 36 years than I have in my 64. and she will never grow old. plus people who remember you means you live on in them.
I cut my hair in a buzz cut almost 2 years ago because my scalp and hair were so badly damaged. Once I cut my hair off, it began to grow back slowly, but still growing.
Lol, I was literally thinking about how I would look with a shaved head earlier. I've been trying to fix my natural hair for a minute. And this pops up in my recs, lol
It’s cute but so many women are not understanding that mixing your hair with other hair kills your hair. When your strands sit next to the others and you take those tracks out..your hair will come with it..hair reacts to static electricity and it will bind with the other strands..when you go to pull the tracks out..your hair is coming out with it..over time your ends become thinner and thinner because they are breaking off every time you remove the tracks..
Too late! I did the big chop but this gorgeous hunty😍
Those clips broke my hair off in the past so I am not a fan
When I went from perms to natural I never chopped off all my hair. As the hair grew out I chopped off the bad parts from the ends. my hair was barely shoulder length now it is almost to the middle of my back after being 6 years natural.
I just don’t understand how people can wear Clip-ins and not experience hair breakage or damage. Clip-ins always break my hair. That’s why I don’t wear them.
Exactly. Notice how the clip-in girls always have sparse, breaking hair. The unnecessary pressure against the scalp is what causes breakage from the root and then the eventual matting of the real hair into the synthetic clip-in hair is where you get breakage.
you don't wear them all day.. take them off when you get home and deep condition once a week .. I've been wearing mine for over 5 years, no problems
The finished look gives me a young "Donna Summers" vibe!
It’s Kelis for me. Kaleidoscope or Tasty Albums.
Cut it. Don’t hold on to damaged hair. Grow healthy new hair instead. Damage travels up the shaft the more the hair is manipulated. You can do the same style with the damaged ends cut off. It’ll look more full and luscious.
Hello Lady Jessica, YOU NEVER DISSAPPOINT. I wore my first wig/unit watching one of your videos years ago. I didn't cut my hair Thanks too Your Video years ago. So, Thank You for be consistent.
If you don't cut damaged hair, it causes more damage up the hair shaft.
Rest in legacy power beautiful ❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢
You will further damage your hair if you do this style. Homegirl slapped that track right into her hair with no cap and protection lol...these are good protective styles when done correctly.
Actually I didn't, which is why I'm sharing this old footage.
WE as BLACK WOMEN ARE AMAZING WHEN IT COMES TO DOING OUR HAIR💖💯
You have to be otherwise you’d be wearing your nappy hair which in my opinion I LOVE!❤️ I think black women with their Natural hair look beautiful ( of course not all) but Jessica is beautiful with or without weaves/wigs!
This doesn't help your damaged hair though...only masking it...cut them ends off girl, they will grow back in no time, then you wont need a weave 💙 cuz your hair is beautiful! I bet you would love a tapered style on your face but I know a lot of women don't like short styles. Either way, you are lovely!
This is an option for those who do not want to cut it all off, but instead do gradual trims. I've done big chops plenty of times. This time I decided to work with it, because I still loved the color. That's why options are there. You don't always have to completely cut your hair off if you don't want to.
@@JessicaPettway hi Jessica could u say the name of hair n where we can get it please? Thanks
@@maxMSMT she said in a separate comment they are from True and Pure Texture , I believe :)
@@astroblast2325 oohh had searched thru the comments for a comment regarding that but i hadnt found one..thanks for your help😊
@@JessicaPettway Amen!! ❤️I have been so lonely making this statement 😂
I'm searching hairstyles like this because I'm currently devastated because my beautician just cut about 4 or 5 inches of my hair. I went in for a silk press, she told me I needed a little trim (wasn't suprised because I'm just coming out of braids), left out the salon with a chin length bob. My hair was touching my arm pit. Beauticians don't know what a "trim" is. I would have rather cut it gradually and worn hairstyles like this because I'm traumatized and have no idea what to do with hair this length smh.
This is great for a quick fix to camouflage the damage, but you’re gonna have to cut it off eventually to get it back healthy again. Better to just chop the junk and then do this…you don’t need six inches of damaged ends to do a twist and sew some tracks on top 🤷🏾♀️
Nothing wrong w cutting and starting all over too.....a chance for new healthy natural beautiful hair, nothing better than that 🙌🏾
If put in the wrong way, those metal clips hurt.
The style is cute however, you do need to cut your hair so that it can grow healthy because what you just gonna keep putting style after style after style in without fixing the problem?!
Not true. My hair itself was fine. No breakage. The problem was my curl pattern was compromised when I had multiple color sessions in a short spam of time. However, since during that time, I preferred to wear my hair straight in a short bob, my hair was fine because I took care of it. My grew out just fine, which is why I saved this video from 2017..
Wish I could find clip ins That matched my hair
That's black girl magic right there! Simply beautiful! I love it!❤❤❤😁😁😁
i wouldnt recomend you trying to hold on to damaged hair. its just going to continue to spilt up the shaft, especially if you have color or heat damage. Chop it, start over.
Wow imma try this, I’m just going natural for the first time and I still have permed damaged hair to grow out, I can finally leave these wigs alone for a while
How did she attach it???? Glue???
Why wouldn't someone want to cut off their dead ends.
Because they may have color that they still want to rock
Amazing style, love the makeup 💄💋 too.
Thanks so much beauty 🥰❤️❤️
That make-up is everything 🥰🥰
What’s the name of the crème product? I’ve tried every brand out there and nothing makes my curls look like that
It looks like Schwarzkopf Styling Custard.
But L'Oreal has a creme in it's Extraordinary Oil line that's thick like this one.
That hairdo is so awesome and her makeup 💄 looks beautiful on her and she is beautiful also love her hair ❤️ 😍 💖 💕
Before you even finished I liked it! Knew it would be bomb ;-)
Only you beautiful people can get away with this I’m as porcelain as they come I recently was seeing if I wanted to go back to my natural blonde after five years of salon dyed dark dark brown basically level 2 the past couple times my hair stylist did lighten just my bangs and yesterday when I tell you I came out the ends are hella frayed it’s just all bad I went from long front bang pieces to basically Bettie page
We've all been there. Try olaplex. They're products are great for damaged/color processed hair💕
Hey girl do you have a longer video to this? cuz my hair is definitely looking like your natural hair right now.
Wow! You are absolutely beautiful and your hair is amazing!
You did an astonishing and great job. I love the look. It came out beautiful.
No cut it
This is beautiful.
❤
That's beautiful. You really should cut damaged hair.
Got me wanting clip ins now!!! Beautiful!!
R.I.P. a beautiful soul, living on in your channel and in the hearts of all you touched. Condolences to Jessica's family.
Jessica passed away?!?!
So gorgeous & lovely! ❤️💙💛💜🧡💖💗🫶🏻
This is a great tip. Wings or some other protective style. What can also be done to repair damaged hair...DEEP CONDITION. I can't begin to tell you the amount of damaged hair heads I've helped repair just by doing that. Keep your hair moisture, deep conditioned & don't weigh it done with a ton of products nor heavy products.
You look beautiful 🥰🧚🏾♀️
W❤️W! Love the BAM finished look.
😍🤗🔥🥳.
You had me fooled with a few hair styles you have on your channel. I really thought the retro 70’s hair piece was your hair. However, I think your natural hair is so pretty. Why not try rocking your natural locks for awhile? Have you tried finger waves? Those would look so cute and frame your face. I’ve always wanted to try wearing finger waves and I actually learned how to do them in beauty college. They came out with those clips that make finger waves easy at home. They’ve been around for 100 years, but they started making them again. It would be an interesting idea for a video. Especially the length your natural hair is, you can probably do it very easy. Thanks for the videos.
Hair clips really damage hair and scalp... I love them though
Don't cut it...if it's damaged..please cut it yall
Okay this is cute 🥰 However, if your hair is damaged why not cut off the damaged ends to prevent it from traveling upwards and getting worse?
Style looks flawless! ❤️
What’s the brand of the cream you are applying to your hair.
Sis you slayed🥰👑💁🏾♀️
Im sorry but you didn't show the whole process, where's the rest???
Very nice
Do you have the brand and hair color in the description? Love this style girl!
Those clips are cute, but I wouldn't mess with the too much. They can take your hair out.
I Love This Style Beautiful
Simply Gorgeous!
This video would be a lot more helpful if it came with verbal instructions for people like me.
This is really cute and I wish I had thought of this instead of big chopping again
Cut the damage hair yall
Not everyone wants to do a big chop. That's why there are options available. You can do gradual trims as your hair grows out..
Wowsa!
The finish is beautiful 🤩
I was nervous at first but it turned out so cute 🥰
Which hair company send me the link
Her hair didn’t look that damaged to begin with
Just cut it off! Your hair will grow way faster and past that length in less than a year don’t hold on to negative energy in those ends
You need to cut it!
unfortunately she died 😭 it’s so sad 😞
I love all the love in these comments
Absolutely gorgeous 🔥
Where is the hair from
R.i.p Beatiful❤
So beautiful 😍 🤩 👌
Wow,that looks so good. Thanks.
Very cute. I’ve had color damage when i dyed my hair strawberry blonde then put a texturizer over it 🙈 it was brittle af. What hair is this?
Been there😩 luckily with some time, patience and love, our hair will bounce back. These clips are from true and pure textures ❤️
