I've tried a couple of these mats. the problem I find is the material used isn't heavy enough to pull the creases out? (although the last one didn't seem to have that issue).
I just use an old fashioned putting return machine. if it ain't broke..

I have the medium PuttOut mat, I unroll in the Kitchen to practice and immediately roll back up to store until I use it again. No issues with creases, lays perfectly flat each time and rolls true. The large mat would allow you to stand on the mat while putting, but I've found no issue standing off the mat with the medium version. I think for the price you can't beat it, PuttOut and local US retailers have frequent sales. If I were to have a permanent setup in a dedicated area, I'd look at the more premium mats, but for how I'm using the mat, PutOut works perfectly fine.

Andy, maybe a trip to a good qualtiy astra turf shop, the type that provide the kit to build outdoor putting/chipping greens. An off cut from their greens quality turf, would be similar to the favourite on the video. At least you can cut holes where you want, holes at each end maybe, and increase the length to fit the room you want to use it in. Just a thought Andy. I recon it might work out cheaper too.

Winter in Canada relies on indoor putting after dinner to stay sane. I love my PuttOut mat with its slopey ball return hole thingy. I leave it out on our wood flooring (with wife approval of course) so its always nice and flat. Rolls great and true. Plus the slopey hole return thingy is a cool reward..... make the putt and the ball rolls back to you. Miss and you gotta go get it. Recommended.

From a wife’s perspective, I’m loving how sleek the PrimePutt mat looks in comparison to the others. Obviously I want to get the best out there for hubby to practice, but I also want to make sure it’s something we’d be okay leaving out without looking sloppy. It’s probably the turf from PrimePutt that elevates it versus the raggedy carpet with breaks. I’m sure it’s what makes practicing better, too. Christmas gift shopping is finally complete!

Timely review as winter is beginning to hint at its appearance and the weather doesn’t invite much access to the driving range. Also appreciated the forthright assessments of each mat. I’m currently toying with a PuttOut and it’s providing enough frustration to warrant thinking there’s something to the claims made for it. Continue to love the new “approach”.

Just too late to sway my choices for Christmas Andy.
I have already gone and bought a Wellputt 3m/10ft mat and a Puttout Pressure Trainer.
The mat has all the markings you wished for, and the Puttout does return your ball (to an extent).
But I don't get to actually try them out until Xmas Day!
Fingers crossed for a decent pairing.

I just found a used "PUTT-A-BOUT Par Three Golf Putting Green" at a thrift (2nd hand) store -- $5 rather than the retail ~$40. It's heavy, lies flat, and my 6yo grandson & I have found its value FAR exceeds either price! Only 9 ft x 30 inches, but we've invented games to make short-putt precision practice actually interesting. (Different-colored balls in various holes, knocking down each others' chess pieces, etc.) Maybe my best golf-related purchase so far, from an entertainment value perspective.

Great video. I have the worst Mat you tested, we keep it rolled out so it did flatten out somewhat and one have to make sure the end is level. Still not a big fan of the bill at the end. It’s real go log for your aim and not so much speed. I like the last mat you tested but would like to see cups without la lip so one can experience the same swirl outs one has at a real green.

Putt-out mat system for me. Fast flat mat and two hole targets, the smallest of which can get get inside your head if you let it. I’ve got the mirror and gates too, which really help groove your putting. The thing with this bit of kit is it keeps growing. Devil Ball for me next.

Oddly, I have never struggled with putting and frankly, not put much time into practice. If you watched me putt you would think I was a six handicap. If you watched the rest of my game you would wonder why I keep at it. So my $ would definitely be better aimed toward a 12 yr old scotch and/or a decent golf simulator.

I have 2 lengths of indoor/outdoor carpet from the home store (in my case, Menards in the US). I put the 2 lengths end to end and sealed the seam underneath with duct tape. So I have a 20 x 4 surface that rolls true and is fine to roll up for a few days if I want to get it out of the way. I just cut circles of index card weight card stock to the size of the holes. I also have a putt out that I use. It rolls pretty fast (maybe 9/10 stimp). On the basement floor where there is slope for water to drain I can get a break of a ball or 2 over 20 feet. I think the 4x10 lengths cut from the big roll were $40 each. So, maybe $100 or $110 including the putt out. I use it multiple times a week. Good solution. I can even take it on the driveway in nice weather and practice putts with more slope.

I use a 20 foot outdoor carpet that has a rubber backing.
It putts at about a 10,it never gets any creases on it and I can putt much longer putts than those expensive matts.
The only down side is it's not green.
    Mine is golden yellow. 😂

  • @briarmeadow
    @briarmeadow 6 месяцев назад

i have a 12' long hallway carpet runner that is very flat and fast and is wide enough to stand on to provide same level putting for feet and ball. i can move it around the floor to provide some minor change in break. I have two favorite targets i place at the end, a PUTT-OUT and a small ceramic coaster. The goal with the round ceramic coaster is to hit it squarely with the ball so the ball will go up and over the coaster rather than being deflected to the side. I use them year round. Very helpful for keeping the putter in tune.
For the swing, I have an Orange Whip I use for full swings and trying to keep some flexibility and feel over the winter. I'm adding some speed stix for this winter to see if i can increase my swing speed as the years are catching up with me. I would like to have a hitting net, but currently don't have a good place for it.

It's gotten too cold here in Maine to play golf, so I've ordered a golf simulator. It hasn't arrived yet. At least I'll be able to practice my swing. It was on sale for black Friday and was under $200. I also have an almost identical putting mat to the one you have that returns the ball to you. I enjoy it, but it's not anything like putting on a green.

The very best way to overcome the winter is to travel to South Africa and play all the courses throughout the country. By the time you have finished, the winter in Europe will be over. But seriously, living there is fairly cheap for people from Europe and the green fees are ridiculous in comparison to the UK or elsewhere in Europe. 😎😎😎👍🏻

For several years I used an EXPUTT mat with the putting simulator software offering ball roll and putter face data. It was around $500 dollars so maybe a tiny bit more expensive. But in terms of challenge and feedback it was light years ahead of any of these products. I have not heard anything recently about this product, but it was a massive help to me over three winters and needed only a 9 foot length of non-carpeted flat floor facing a television and good overhead diffused lighting. I never had any problem rolling up the mat after each session and the detector head was just left in place to the side of the television. For me it ticked all the boxes and will be coming out of the the under-stairs cupboard for this winter - five years after initial purchase.
