    Found your videos recently.
    Today played front 9, having already decided what would be an acceptable score.
    All tee shots were at least 1 club less than I’d usually go for, all transport or approach shots was 1 club more with an easy swing.
    I had the most stress free 9 holes, shot 1 under my hcp par and enjoyed the hell out of it.
    “Drop the ego, play the position and realize what a good score is.”
    Awesome advice.

      Most immediate impact of the 5, if you want to break 80 or 5 shots better than your best score! is putting distance control.
      Easy method, find a flat putt on practice green around 25ft,3 or 4 balls hold your follow through as you watch the ball roll,try and connect your brain/senses! to the roll of the ball

    “And every now and then a blind squirrel finds its acorn” I love that saying. Huge ups to the info on avoiding 3 putts! Distance control has become huge for me while putting because if I know I can’t putt in 1 I can at least put myself close enough to the hole to make that second putt. The key is shaving off strokes in the right places and in turn lowering your score through each hole. Another thing is to play courses more than once, you get used to the feel, conditions, and greens of the course and become a more knowledgeable players on said course. :)

    Damn. I'm surprised this Golf Messiah has not been crucified. I play off HC21. I started on HC28 2 years ago. Followed Golfsidekick matra and lessons. Cut scores down massively. Being that high HC, playing in club competitions that mostly have stabelford scoring, Golfsidekicks mantra makes scoring in those competitions really effective and to be honest, very easy. This video is no different to playing HC1 golf or HC21. You have made a massive impact mate. Met several West Aussie golfers randomly in WA that have been touched by your golf brain. Cheers mate

    Tip I picked up from my dad when I learned to golf, when you’re on the fringe like that at 2:20 ish, use a 3 iron (if you have it in your bag) to putt. It helps the ball clear some of the taller grass that can make your putt from the fringe unpredictable. I used that tip a lot when I used to play.
    When I was a caddy, I had a golfer ask me what to hit in that situation, and I told him to putt with the 3 iron. He ignored me and took out a wedge and ended up 15 feet from the hole. I told him it would have been better to putt with the 3. He told me he would give me $50 if I got it in from there with the 3 iron. I drained it. He took my advice the rest of the round and took 5 strokes off his game. He asked for me every round he had after that.

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  7 месяцев назад +1

      Exactly. There is even a crazy way to putt with an old school 2 iron. I will put it in a video. That 3 iron tip is gold of you have one in the bag

    • @whaddup691
      @whaddup691 7 месяцев назад

      @@GolfSidekick I would say for anyone at that level, they should find one at good will to keep in their bag. It’s very unlikely if you’re at that level you need a full 14 clubs in your bag. You’re likely pretty good with a handful clubs, need a handful more for specific situations (like a sand wedge). Maybe 10 clubs you use regularly and well. Making space for something like that forces you to keep your game simple

    I learned a few years ago to not really worry too much about score, just focus more just how you’re hitting the ball. If you’re making good contact but get unlucky or misjudged what club to use, so be it, your score won’t be as good that hole/day but if the contact is solid it’ll come.

Leaving ego beside for most golfers is the biggy here, I guess. As a lady baus, I took my medicine and focussed on practicing up @ downs. Also went back to my irons (incl. 4Iron) and wohoo. You are a great ball striker and have a great short game. But IMO what makes you a 1 handicap player is your mental attitude. You are a master at managing your way around the course and have the confidence that you can score with a long game or short game off the tee. Very few of us have that confidence.

    im a little bette than a 0 so same ball park as you......thinking of a 5 on a par 5 is insane aren't we trying to play par 5's 1-4 under depending how many there are?

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  8 месяцев назад

      Depends on the par 5. But usually 1-2 under i am happy with. Some days thats a SW in hand on all four par 5s. You have a par 5 550 yards cut into 3 by water - 5 is good. Par 5 500 yards with a big downslope, 4 is expected. Another par 5 limiting your drive to 255 max leaving a 250-260 yarder over water, with no space? 5 is good. The 4s will come. Forcing 4s makes 6s. The point is make is that an expert makes 5. Even as a 1 handicap im not an expert. So 5 is fine. It’s not my ideal but it’s fine

    As a 30 handicap golfer who struggles to break 100. (Only done it once). I struggle the most to just make clean contact. On my bad holes and bad days I hit behind the ball and chunk the grass.
    When I hit the ball clean, I can usually get my clubs to perform well and do what I want them too. But when I'm chunking grass, my ball is unpredictable.
    My putting is also a big problem. I have had many times where I am putting for par or even birdie. However I then three putt or four putt and totally ruin an otherwise well played hole.

      @GolfSidekick  8 месяцев назад

      Yes sir. The difference between 30 and 1 is nearly two shots a hole. Usually mis hits that cause big problems. And 3-4 putts. Lessons help

      @@GolfSidekick as an update - I have been watching your videos on breaking 100 and trying to apply what I'm learning. I still haven't broken 100 again, however I came close yesterday.
      Yesterday I played 18 holes at a new course I have never played. I managed a 53 on the front and a 48 on the back, for a 101 final score.
      Honestly I failed mainly when I deviated from the strategy. There were a couple holes that I should have not hit driver on, but I gave in to peer pressure and hit driver. Ended up taking a drop on one hole because I sliced my driver out of bounds. Also I ended up in some bad spots in the rough. That and I had one par 3 where I hit my 7 iron on the toe and landed in the water.
      But I also parred a par 3 and a par 4. So over all it was a great day golfing for me.

    Zen level golf advice from Matty B. I have a question: why are certain clubs go to clubs ? Obviously the driver is harder to hit well than a 7 wood for example but is this because you have spent much longer on the range practising with the 7 wood? I was a 28-35 hacker wiyh occasional +14 rounds but if my swing went EVERYTHING went. That said i never had lessons. :(

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  9 месяцев назад

      7 wood because it looks like the first wood I could ever hit properly - a 5 wood persimmon Jeanette Byrd Slaz
      6 iron because it was the longest iron I could hit without slicing it back when i was 13.
      4 iron came later I don't know why i got good with 2,3,4 irons.
      Your swing never really 'went' - your timing probably went. If you've never had lessons, you probably work on timing because fundamentals aren't there...much like me. Your swing is actully consistent but it's relying on timing which is the inconsistent part.

    Yesterday on pace for a 50+ front nine where I was hacking it everywhere. I took a moment to find my “zen” and entered the way of the player,was + 5 the remainder of the round to break 90. No golf RUclipsr has helped me shoot lower scores like the Golf Sidekick and it doesn’t have a lot to do with swing fixes or anything.

      I can try but its difficult because its personal and i just see the line. Some days i cannot see the line and on some grasses i just cannot read the lines. Inwill try make a putting video on hitting the apex of the line better
