😅Funny story. My parents sold my first car back in the day. About two weeks after the car was parked in front of our house. The police showed up looking for the driver since the car was used to rob a liquor store. Thank God my dad was smart enough to write up a note signed by the new owner and himself stating he was no longer the owner. Needless to say, I still have paperwork for cars I’ve sold throughout the years “just in case!”
AhHa!! I Knew there would be a reason! 😬😂
I got a parking ticket from California on a car I sold in Arizona where I have lived since 2019 … ?? What I don’t own that car and sold it two years ago ? I had to get to dmv in California they told me cities sometimes ? Don’t bother to do checks ( state of California had it was in arizona) … the city was hoping I would pay a parking ticket ? I had to show proof of sale ( on line vroom helped me out ) all fixed ! What a pain !
This is so strange to me! 😂 We have to go and do an official title transfer when buying/selling cars as part of the process. Glad your dad had that signed note
Clever dad!
@@Larissa-iw5wy He did the transfer but this happened within a week of selling it. I think they knew their intentions and didn’t follow through with DMV.
When my granddaughter was little, she stayed with my husband & me for an extended time.
At 3 years old she would help me load & unload the dish washer and process the laundry! Then she would help fold smal towels and washcloths.
They're never too young to learn.
From my mom, the “one touch” rule: If it’s in your hand and it has to go somewhere, put it there now. Don’t lay it down so you have to pick it up (touch it) later. That way, no clutter accumulates. Except from kids who haven’t learned that yet. But they will!
Kudos for raising kids who do what they’re told without giving you any guff. They will be SO much more pleasant to be around for the rest of their lives. ❤
❤
I try to do things like this, but my ADHD kicks in...
I struggle with this, and have to tell myself out loud to just put whatever it is away.
Ah, you state teaching kids to help with household tasks makes YOUR life easier - yet, for the record - you are also making THEIR life easier in the future! When parents do everything for the kiddos, the kids grow up to be inept household managers. Like, uh, me. 😢. Doing laundry, tidying up, paying bills - these need to be taught! LOVE your attitude 👍🏻 (My niece caught a fellow college dorm resident cleaning his laundry with fabric softener! How sad!)
When I've hurt myself and had nerve damage, it took a looooong time to recover, longer than I expected. I believe the extremities take longest to recover and heal. I know you don't want to hear this, but I'd bet on 2 years. I also believe that if biking-vibrations hurt your finger, most other sports you like may as well.
Christine--it may be time to find something else, even for just a season. This could be the start of a brand-new adventure for you! ❤
What about a stationary bike? Maybe splurge on the screen that makes it look like you are biking anywhere in the world.
Hey friend, B vitamins are SUPER nervous system/nerve healers. Check them out...! Best wishes for good healing 🎉
I think any pressure will hurt for a long time. You will have phantom pain and when you get your blood pumping it will hurt. My son had his finger smashed under a tree a few years ago and he had numbness and pain for many months.
B vitamins help. I was told that it could be a year before I had feeling back to my arm. (Shattered elbow) imagine my surprise when I hit my funny bone and it hurt.
I decided, after years of struggling to keep up with the house, this was the year to get my act together. I am constantly decluttering and I do a quick tidy morning and night and two loads of laundry daily. I’ve also learned to ask for help and delegate tasks. It’s just so nice to be able to clean without spending an hour tidying.
I have adopted the mindset of "what can Present Amanda do for Future Amanda?" so I just put the thing away when I'm holding it instead of setting it down to put away "later". It's so helpful.
The pain thing will take awhile and the numbness 😢 rub it with caster oil. The oil is beneficial and the rubbing greatly helps the circulation and healing process! I sliced and diced my thumb a few years ago and it's healed well but is not 100% and won't be. The slight numbness is weird. Good luck!
The caster oil will help, and, if you don't have any at present, massage "gently" the area below the damaged area so the fluid inside of your hand can circulate the blood to your finger. Be patient and the finger will heal.
Last weekend I just helped my two teenager boys get rid of 2 trash bags of stuff out of their room. It was great!
My son in law writes o the white boards chores for my grandchildren. Each day he switches the names up. I’m glad he keeps track.
The best idea that I've ever come up with to help the closet clutter is to keep a separate hamper/basket under my hanging clothes. Whenever I get dressed and decide I don't like how it looks or feels, right into the basket it goes. If I don't like it today, I'm not going to magically like it tomorrow or next year.
As for the finger, my husband got a piece of wood "shiskabobbed" (the hand surgeon's words) through the tendon in his finger while rebuilding the deck. It took probably a year or so before he got feeling back, I believed the pain went away sooner. I hope it heals quickly!
Hypnosis help for the pain. Even selfhypnosis, there are courses. I can do a remote theta healing session for free. (I offered it to Hope from Over the median too, she broke her shoulder.) It's a meditation. For some health cases it can come to instant healing.
I suggest to go to the seaside this year. The cleanest water that you can find. Salt water or saline heal everything. Or hot springs with minerals in the water.
Time to go on that boat, Christine! 😃You will find best deals and have new tips for us. ⛵🚤
Praying for your finger to heal quickly. I got nothing on what you should do, but definitely praying.
Have your family help! This is my saving grace. I have 4 kids also 12-18. I have a weekly chore chart that rotates all the daily chores(dishes, vacuuming, wiping counter and kitchen floor) and weely chores (mopping, upstairs vacuum, and 2 bathrooms) I work outside the home and about 8 years ago decided I would no longer spend my weekend cleaning. Best thing ever!
When my husband worked as a machinist over a hundred years ago, he severely cut his finger-tendon and nerve damage. He did have surgery-yes, the scar tissue was very painful. He actually had physical therapy, where his hand was dipped in a mixture of melted paraffin and mineral oil, then it would be wrapped up. After a while, the wrapping would come off, and his finger would be stretched and stretched. (very painful). I don't know if your injury was comparable to his, but it took maybe a month for the pain to subside. Bonus-with the paraffin and mineral oil, his hand was very soft! Here's hoping for a complete recovery.
I follow the "If it takes less than 5 minutes, do it now" rule. I also do a daily tidy of high traffic areas before going to bed.
You could put up a floating shelf above your bed
My mom had us doing household chores from an early age. Whenever she thought we were intentionally cutting corners she always made us do it again until we got it right: her mantra was ‘if you have time to do something twice you have time to do it right the first time.’
About 3 years ago I cut my thumb and nearly lost the tip. Hurt like a sucker for over a year and I still have some numbness in it (nerves grow back very slow!).
I just took things one day at a time. I’d say test out biking about once a week and see how it goes. It’ll get better!
Massage vitamin E oil on the scar, it’ll help soften it and reduce the appearance. Castor oil may help as well.
My town billed me for a car I junked over a year later. Glad I kept that receipt. But now, if it is important like that, I take a picture.
All solid advice, especially teaching children how to help out. One thing I am working on is "Don't put down-Put away" and practicing this motto is helping me to be more organized and less clutter
Deep decluttering is so valuable in avoiding future spending mistakes!
@9:29 "I don't do it all myself" CHRISTINE, PLEASE DO AN AN ENTIRE VIDEO ABOUT FAMILY HELPING!!!
“Follow me for more cooking safety tips” 😂 oh, Christine, so glad you can laugh 🥺
❤ from Iowa
I am SO WITH YOU on wanting to do anything but clean/declutter! And maybe that is why I cook so dang much! Some of these are tips my mom used to tell me, and I just gotta DO THEM! Your videos are always right on time, thank you so much! Now I have 8 months to declutter/maintain before baby #3 comes! 🎉
I love this video, so realistic and yes to decluttering! As a minimalist I'm still amazed every time I declutter how much I can get rid of 😂
Scar tissue experience, keep it hydrated and very gentle massage as much you can stand it to keep it from getting too stiff.
Just subscribed today. My goal is to declutter in 2024. Just watching this video gave me some great ideas.
To reduce your finger pain, check out chatter gloves on your next bike ride. They're often used by folks who use chain saws. They're a bit heavy, but I used to lose feeling in my hands when I was working with my small electric saw, and chatter gloves extended the time I could safely work. On the scar tissue, try unscented bag balm. Great moisturizer, mild analgesic. Great video!
Declutter more. 😜 I need to hear that. Teaching your kids how to do things also builds confidence.
When I shop, declutter or make food I think of how I can gift it to friends and family if I realize don't need it. I often give gift boxes to loved ones on holidays and often they contain things like candles, body lotions, candy, etc. that I don't use myself anymore for some reason. Some family members are unfortunate experts in giving me gifts I don't need and don't like. I usually save them and give them to someone I know will enjoy them more them me.
Omg😂I love your story about your mom lol my dad is the same way. My mom recently passed away and my dad is disabled and so my daughter and I help him out on a daily basis. We wanted to make his place easy to clean up and get rid of alot of necessary junk. He has a large collection of plastic shoe boxes in the basement filled to the brim with old utility bill statements, instructions for appliances etc. Let me tell ya it was a struggle to get him to part with these things. Finally I convinced him there is no need to save these things unless he planned on returning a fridge he's owned for 20 plus years 😂
Parents! LOl
I helped my aunt. She hD tax statements back to 1998, 10 years + of bank statements, etc.😅
Your videos are so useful and motivating!
Love this! Thank you!
This is great!
This was awesome! Thank you.
Love this!!
Thanks for sharing!
I de cluttered about 2yrs ago, now going room to room and taking time to DEEP de clutter. It's taking time with my daily life, however when I do the daily quick pick up clean, the rooms that I have already deep clutter, take 2 minutes! Can totally see the light at the end of my tunnel. Also major eye opener on spending and sale items!!!
We have a donation bag right outside the garage door too, so helpful.
You hit everything 100%, I am struggling with help from family... work in progress.
Great reminders! Thank you for helping me keep myself accountable ❤
You need to tap out. I've been there, done that. Give yourself grace and time to fully heal. 💜
Great podcast.
My son broke his pinky last year, right before the NICA season started. He rode the trainer indoors for a while and then roads (like you said you were trying). He thought it was about 7 or 8 weeks until he was back on the mountain. With you actually cutting through nerves, you might feel issues from that for at least a year since nerves can take 12 months or longer to fully heal. Maybe just cancel only the first race, not all of them yet, and see how you feel closer to the next one. Good luck!
Great video.
I am a kindred spirit my friend!
Thank you !
Yes!
We do a purge four times a year. Plus have a list of when we need to clear certain things.
I have just moved, I mean, like yesterday! I am definitely decluttering because having to move all of our "stuff" has been a nightmare 😢 I noticed that you don't have anything on your walls. Is that part of your decluttering?
I deserve it. Love that!
Christine so very sorry. Prayers for your complete healing. I had the tip of my index finger pulled off in 2009. Surgery and skin graph etc. It still hurts and cramps to this day. 5 months to actually heal from the inside out. Finger is creepy dead feeling at the tip. But on the positive note I was 64 not 24. It was my left hand and I am right handed. I am still married to my husband who accidentally slammed the truck door on my hand. Winter or cold weather makes my finger ache so bad. What does work is massage lightly by griping and twisting with the opposite hand. Common sense no bike riding.
Oh and wear the dorky plastic or metal finger protector the hospital sold you. (it will really save you a lot of embarrassment when you accidentally hit your finger in a public place)
Good video. Have a great week.
Great advice, and the massaging does help a LOT.
Finger~ Nerve pain may always be there ( not as severe & triggers of weather, over worked, hot or cold exposure will create the pain).
Massage and PT.
Massage can be as simple as a coconut oil, or essential oils (peppermint/frankincense/lavendar) or OTC Nervine. Massage deep long strokes over finger and tip. Can use warm pack to soften fascia & muscles). The paraffin wax dip also helps. Doing hand stretches and grasping of small objects in a box of dried pinto beans or rice. And lastly vibration exercise....a vibration tool with levels that are placed around the area to stimulate nerves(physical therapist use them, actually patients do it themselves to control vibration and stimulation.
Give yourself atleast 10-12 months to heal. No biking 😢 Hiking? Running? Swimming?
Good luck ❤
I am a sleepy girl who is married to a night owl.. we have been talking about getting a helix once our mattress needs to be replaced.
Also my rule for our home is "if it's overwhelming, we have too much stuff and if doesn't have a home it has to go" life changing!
Prayers for a full recovery🙏
Amen❤
Thank you. You have truly helped so many people and I appreciate you.
So sorry you are going through this with your finger! Prayers!
Love your shirt! We went to Kauai last summer. SO amazing!! ❤⛱️🏝
Wow! This was soooo good! And you're hilarious 😂 I love your channel ❤ thanks
That is a brilliant idea for a headboard - the wood wall! I might need to steal that idea. :)
I absolutely LOVE your coffee table, Christine! Totally my style, unfortunately not my husband's so guess who won that one? lol
Frugal Fit Mom = 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!! Love watching your videos I learn so much from them! Keep it up, God bless!!
Infrared light will help break down the scar tissue and it will help with the pain. It will burn as the scar tissue is breaking down but I can say my knarly scar is now pain free and I have all my feeling back!
The donation box really works
Please let it heal completely
Decluttering never ends. You were ahead of me three years ago! It's like exercise. You can't be a world-class weightlifter overnight. You start little but work consistently and keep working your way up. My goal has been to declutter so I have less to do not so I can get more done. Thank you for your channel!!! ❤
Yes
We keep a donation box always.
Trail running all the way!!!!
I have the constant donation bin too!
I found my twinsister! 😂 all the things i would rather do than clean...wow long list!😅 i am so sorry about the pain you still have, think of you! ❤
ALOHA!! 🌺🌺 Love the shirt you’re wearing!!! That is where I am from!!!! Love your videos!!!
6 months to a year to rid of the nerve and scar tissue that was my experience for my fingers I cut now I’m too scared to use knives 🤣 love your videos !
I have never hurt my finger but there are massages to break up scar tissue which I never knew for my back surgery and my scar was always itchy. I had it done in pt after shoulder surgery and it is life changing. It is not painless for sure but I have had my scar tissue on my back worked on and it feels so much better. The time for the pain to go away is a tough one based on your tolerance for pain and what sets off the pain like heat or cold or movement. You might find you can support it in some way and the vibrations hurt less. I hope you find the answers that work for you but good pt or massage therapist would be my first step.
Yes, i had scar tissue near/in my armpit and movements were getting more restrictive and sore due to skin tightness (does that make sense?) My friend is a chiro and used a metal scraping tool on it to break up some of those scar tissue fibers and oh wow! It was intense but worked! Been years and it hasn’t re-occurred
Amen we are kindred spirits !!! I need to declutter more ! 😂glenda. Scar tissue …. Massage ??? Ortho RN here 6/12 months ? Keep searching your already seeing someone with good knowledge and specialty ! As long as you trust them follow the course .. ask those hard questions and of course prayers 🙏alternatives are an excellent plan !
Someone’s been hanging around Dawn😍😍😍
Best shirt ever. My favorite spot on the planet.
I grew up poor in a large family. Stuff wasn't an issue because I only had one small dresser drawer.
When I got married and had kids, I surrounded my life with stuff. Things bought at yard sales and thrift stores, but still, stuff.
Over the years I would switch things out as I relaced them with nicer stuff. I had yard sales and donated the things I no longer wanted, but still have plenty of stuff. Scarcity is a fear for me, and paralyzes me from truly letting go of things.
My house is clean and doesn't look cluttered, but I have 50+ tubs filled with stuff that I have kept on shelves in the basement or garage - depending how our house was set up. My husband and kids don't want the stuff, but I am having trouble really letting go of certain things that I no longer need or use.
Has anyone else struggled through this and able to finally let go?
I think of it if I died suddenly, and I'm just ove 40 but people do, my dear family members and teen kids would have to deal with all this stuff. That burden on them is my motivation. You would know if someone close died and you had to deal with the stuff.
I finally came to the realization that it is just STUFF that your loved ones do not want. Having it out of your life instead of worrying about it is very freeing. The money you spent for it is gone. If you donate your precious things, there is a good chance that someone else will love it as you did and give it a home. You will not care about your things when you are dead. Get rid of your bins and save your family the trouble of doing it without you. Remember, it is just STUFF! Good luck.
❤
You can work on desensitizing your nerves by rubbing your finger tip around in a bowl of rice. It may hurt but over time the nerves will become less sensitive. Hope this helps ❤️. Love your videos!!
Grew up in a family with 14 kids and my mom implemented monthly jobs to each kid. As a mom myself I have switched to that system too, and it frees up so much brain space! My kids keep track of the new month and then ask what their new jobs are. I never have to check a schedule, And after a month of doing the same job they become really efficient at it.
I too suffered a finger injury, however not my finger tip. It was back in October. My fav crockpot had a crack on the side and my stupid self picked it up by the cracked side while it was fully full. Well a ceramic shard went through my left pinky. I ended up with 6 stitches in it. It's closer to the palm of my hand but to this day it still hurts to overextend it. So I'd say it'll be at least 6 months before the pain goes away, possibly longer
That is awesome!! I love this tips!! Im like your mom with the paper trail and getting rid of it all lol I also have a 2 and 6 year old and it's been hard to declutter and clean, I will try to grt thrm involved without fighting. Feel better with your finger! Maybe a year or more to heal
Rogue and Speedy for president!!!
💫Great video, Christine! My sons mountain bike too here in Arizona. They are on 2 teams as well: one is mountain & second is endro. Not sure which state you are in but we could bump into each other if you travel around to various bike parks. I cycle as well; no mountain only gravel. Hope you recover! TTFN
For your finger: accupuncture. It can often do amazing, healing things with nerve-related issues. I know it did for me. Best.
Your hair is very pretty
I think you need to heal, it could take a year finish healing. Orajel could help when it hurts because of the litocain. If you are worried about vibration maybe running or swimming would be better. Good luck with healing up, we’ll be rooting for you. 😊
I so understand! I cut off the end of my pinky on a mandolin. I was cutting onions. I nicked the bone. I had to have the tip sewn back on. They weren’t sure it would take but it did. It was so hyper sensitive even after it healed over. The slightest bump would send pain throughout my hand. Yes it does get better but it took a good year for the pain to subside. It happened about 6 years ago. The scarring is so much better now. It is barely noticeable. I hope your healing goes quickly. ❤
That’s great to hear that you barely notice it now!
I’ve used silicone scar sheets before to help with scar tissue pain. Also, warm wrap and gentle massage. Anti inflammatory diet foods can also help with nerve pain.
I love your channel. You challenge me as a mom and an athlete. Love this. I am so jealous my husband is such a clutter bug. if there is free space on the cabinet he fills it. everything gets piled on the fridge. I need to take a little bit of time each day and start a slow declutter. I also have 2 small children. 2 and 4 years old so I don't get alot of time. but Im turning 40 next year time to jumpstart the decluttered house.
almost cut my finger this week, it was insanely close and I scared me . I thought about you ! Thank God I was concentrated on what I was doing, which I have to admit is not always the case ..
With the office tidy up, easier to get invoices/bills emailed and regular ones on direct debit, then no paper, and no forgetting if on dd.
This is so great! Thank you! My kiddos are 9, 7, 5, and 3 and I’m working to involve them in more things around the house! Would love to see your chore chart for your kids and how you divide it up each day! Such a great idea!
Homesteading with the Zimmermans has wonderful videos on kids helping with chores. I enjoy watching them help her cook. She has amazing patience.
I have to battle with my fantasy self lol but have gotten better at recognizing that it’s my fantasy self that wants to keep all the things. If I am real with myself, I realize that it’s ok to let it go. Life is much easier.
Try vit e oil and massage in circular motion for the scar tissue. A surgeon I used to worth with used to recommend that
Have you considered seeing at PT for the finger pain? They may be able to help!
My tip for paper clutter is to get a box and write "BURN" on it. Toss all mail, coupons and receipts that you don't know what to do with in there. File your birth certificates, car titles, and important stuff and put everything else in the burn box. It takes me 3-6 months to fill the burn box. When it's full get another box and start over. If you need anything out of your burn box then you can always go dig it back out. When ever we decide to light the firepit out back, I use the burn box as my fire starter.
I love your eye makeup! What brand do you use?
Youre just so loveable. Hope you get good advice about your finger. I shattered my elbow 3 years at age 63. Took about 5 or 6 months and lots of PT for all my fingers to work as before. (My arm doesn't straighten completely. But im grateful, grateful!)
