Mr.G / Professional Feeder. Maybe it's her third version of the channel. Maybe her last name starts with a V and her favorite number is 3. I like it, personally. Her name is Caitlin and she threw in something unique. Can't not subscribe because of that.
How? It's a tech channel filmed like a vlog. She does the reviews and builds in a down to Earth style. She's not coming off like a tech tv show. You don't need the words "tech, PC Guide, builds.." to be a good name for a tech channel. And if you want to get technical about it, her name is actually pretty clever in the tech world.. She's CaitlinV3.. the third version. Just like i7 5700, i7 6700 and i7 7700... but you're entitled to your opinion. I just don't feel a channel name is worth a sub or not.
ddthom2008 excellent point! I always use that black monitor in the background for testing my builds and for some reason just forgot this time. I always always recommend doing that before putting the side panels back on.
I like your delivery. It's a new way of making tech videos that really stands out against all the other tech youtubers who are basically all doing the same videos at this point.
You can actually turn the AMD logo on the stock cooler right side up when you have it mounted. All it takes is taking the 4 small screws off and the fan will come off then put it the way you want it then screw it back in.
10:52 I started wondering if you were going to notice it before putting mobo in. I have been going nuts trying to figure out that old silver case in the back...looks circa 2005-2007? Pre-built top of the line offerings with the tail end of the AMD 64 chips?
What screws did you use to mount the motherboard? I bought this case and I need help. I can’t seem to screw the motherboard on I placed it down and it fit but can you please make a video or tell me how you screwed it.
Had an Athlon II X4 640 until 2015 when I upgraded to Skylake...A silent beast I can say.I enjoyed the build, very informative and relaxing.Earned a sub from Greece :D Keep up the great work!!
I subscribed to you like a week or so ago, you had 3.9 thousand, week and over 1K more subscribers later, Caitlin you are doing something right! :) I personally like the way how you don't take yourself too seriously and show your character, little awkward but you seem like great to hang around. and I guess i'm not alone on that.
Heya Caitlin you have two pci-e 1x busses on that board that means if you grabbed 2 pci-e 1x to 16x risers they are about 7 bucks on ebay and that would let you install two more gfx cards on it.
I'm doing the same B&W combo now. Case is Corsair 570X, RGB RAM Corsair... Like this because she has nodumb music or cheap AE effects. Nice, Subscribed!
New to PC building. So new, in fact, that I have not built my first PC yet. 7:18 Yes, I prefer the overhead camera view, so I can see what is being done. I have watched several videos related to PC building, and having the overhead camera is great. When the overhead camera is not used, the build perspective is severely hindered. Edit: Okay, you have piqued my interest in what you plan to do with this build, so I subscribed. For the CPU power cable length issue, would flipping the PSU help?
Great build video, Caitlin, and your process-dialogue is delightful. Side-note: It made me realize that I've spent *way* too much time playing Fallout, when I reflexively wanted to click on and acquire the bobble-head-like figurine in the background. smh
thank you caitlin for doing the walkthrough on your first ryzen build im sure it helped a lot of new first time pc builders. now that you mention the Athlon processor it brings back nostalgic memories i still have my gaming systems with AMD Athlon II X4 650 and i also have the Phenom II X4 945 build. i still saved my single core from 2003 and the dual core cpu. i enjoyed watching this video it was great to see someone else work on ryzen i was starting to think i was the only one that still cheers for the red team AMD. keep up the good work you have some awesom videos i cant wait to see the rest of the build when you bling it out!! :D
crazymad15 - dude, that is what initially thought, but upon closer inspection of her face, you will see this shiksa is definitely 30+ and she has most certainly smashed the wall head on. It is now really hard to tell what bitches truly look like because they wear so much fake-up. It is very manipulative and deceitful on their part. Just bear in mind a couple of rules - 1) Men age like a fine wine, whereas bitches age like milk. 2) Bitches smash the wall face on after age 29.
The 3000s are out. Let's see some upgrades of CPUs with old x300 series boards! What are the benchmarks? I bet we don't need a x500 series board at all.
Those copper tubes are fat, I like to see them. I can see the case for nickel plate or stainless. Is anyone concerned that the M.2 behind the gpu gets lots of heat and not much air?
Yes Caitlin it was the AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual core socket clocked @ 3.00gHz , they usually always came in a dual socket AMD based machines. I actually still have a tower running with the two AMD Athlon II X2 250's and also a Laptop all from the same time period. I am new to your channel so I am still trying to figure you out , not sure if your a gamer , in security , or just like to build custom rigs. I just bought a new production machine and I am so sorry I didn't go AMD , I always have but this time I went with team blue, AND the grass is definitely not greener. Between SPOILER and all the other wonderful vulns these intel core series systems have I think its safe to say I made a good buying decision at a really bad time. Anyway , I hope you recover quickly from your surgery, feel better ! 🙂
I do remember those days CaitlinV3 with athlon x64, back when amd was still very relevant...!!! They kept there place in the market with the Phenom cpus but then fell off after that! My first computer build actually had a c2d e6550 after that i moved up to the Q6600 and overclocked the living crap out of it, and it still works at 3.6 to this day! Great video really enjoyed it!
I don't know if you plan on making a video overclocking the Ryzen chip, but I've been having trouble trying to OC my Ryzen 5 1600 and need some help. Thanks for your time.
Love the video. Wow, I recall them days of the Athlon 64 which is an eighth-generation CPU from way back in 2003. You sure can be funny in some of your videos which is refreshing for a change. When you need to work on the table like you are in this video, make sure to place the anti static plastic bag you had removed down and place the mobo on that to work on. Other wise you can risk damaging the board. Remember, static is the enemy of the pc.
Yes! The old school Athlon was the last build AMD build I did besides my latest Stormtrooper Ryzen 9 build. I made it at the beginning of Vanilla WOW. That brings back some memories.
I got the msi bazooka black with white accents, same ram and nzxt s340 white. A couple white led fans and it should look pretty good. Not as much white as this board but still think it'll be nice.
They are standoffs. Some people make up their own words for things when they don't know the right word. There is such a thing as a riser, but it is a totally different thing. see this: www.computerhope.com/jargon/r/risecard.htm also see circuit board standoffs: www.mscdirect.com/browse/tn/Fasteners/Circuit-Board-Fasteners/Circuit-Board-Standoffs?navid=12108727
Traditionally a riser is a device that raises something off the surface. it's not exactly a made up word. It's just not the technically correct word. However, it does its job as we all know what she is trying to convey.
Woah! I just put together a computer using almost all the same components! (just Mobo and GFX that are different) Have you tried overclocking the R1600 yet? Any luck?
I would have have thought that there would be only the AM3 socket, UEFI /BIOS EEPROM socket and EEPROM, peripheral headers, SATA1/2/3 sockets, DDR4 memory slots,USB1/2/3, and power connections and only one slot for when you are using a RYZEN processor that isn't a APU and when using an APU you do without the addin graphics card as leaving that in would cause the APU to overheat
What's the advantage of an NVMe SSD over a SATA inerface one? I mean, it's 4-k performance is about equal(960evo and 850 evo),or is it because you (obviously) do video editing?
That looks (looked?) really nice. Computers are mostly black in side, so the white makes for a very nice change. I am going to get the red version of this Fractal Design "Focus G" case to replace this very irritating Aerocool case I have (also with a Ryzen 5 1600, as it happens).
Nice aesthetics on that build! The Focus G is still my favorite case. It's cheap and cable management takes a little effort, but airflow is almost unmatched and the front looks great. I have two low-rpm 140s in front and one on bottom for intake, with two more up top and a 120 rear for exhaust. It's at arm's length and I almost can't hear it. (Guess I sound like a fanboy, heh.)
I think it's a good idea to suggest to every builder to test everything on the motherboard box prior to installing the components into the case to save you time if anything is DOA and needs to be RMA'd.
why on earth wouldn't you do a post test before you put it in the box?! takes like 10-15extra minutes an everything already hooked up so if it posts just in in hook your power pick up your board an throw it in the case well remove the gpu then install board but still a lot better to do this then put it in the case an find out somethings doa cause thats a bad day:(
Thank you very much ! Great video! My grandchild and I subscribe . I bought all the same parts and with this video my 9 year old and I built her first computer. Works great. Thank you very much!
Hi ma'am, I wanted a gaming rig with that kind of aesthetics but can also handle programming practices. I just wanted to hear any thoughts if these parts are enough... mobo: msi arctic ab350 pro tomahawk cpu: ryzen 5 1500x gpu: asus dual gtx 1060 O6G 6gb ram: any 8gb white ram (or with led) many thanks ☺️
Hey that's a nice build you're doing I know it's going to be awesome when your finish I have a FX 8320E system but and July I'm going to be swapping to a Ryzen 5 1600X red and black.
Yay AMD , my first build was an Atlhon too , i still have it in my "collection" , just a tip if i may , i think you could round the cpu cooler cable the other side and it ll not be in front of the rams loose , yay bling bling Ryzen
I'm running an Athlon 64 X2 4200 in my media computer. Runs fine. Plays 1080 without a hitch. Building an AMD FX 8370 rig now. I'm so behind the times....but I save my money for other toys.
i have not build an AMD system since AMD athlon XP I bought a 1700+ and pencil unlocked it to 2800+ :-) PS your sound is pretty sharp if you can hang up some sound dampening it will sound alot nicer (curtains and flags help on the cheap)
Somehow I feel the orientation of the fan of AMD's stock cooler to be wrong, fortunately it's symmetrical (a Cooler Master fan, btw) so it can be reoriented in 4 different ways.
You will one day make a guy the luckiest man alive! Also, I have a suggestion, add some very soft background music, It enhances the video quite a bit :)
She's at 5k subs... I feel like she's going to blow up. She's not only good looking n funny but she knows what she's talking about. Good vids!

LOL She's outta my league!
she is good DNA
Hey, Caitlan! Please continue what you do. I find your videos both inspirational and practical. Awesome work.
You didn't do the first power up with a monitor attached. How do you know it works?
ddthom2008 excellent point! I always use that black monitor in the background for testing my builds and for some reason just forgot this time. I always always recommend doing that before putting the side panels back on.
Two years later and this video is still useful. I'm shopping for a build and this case still seems like a decent choice. Thanks.
Is there an update video to this? Id like to see the finished product.
I like your delivery. It's a new way of making tech videos that really stands out against all the other tech youtubers who are basically all doing the same videos at this point.

This has re-entered my recommended, oh how the turns tabled.
I'm glad you made this video. I bought the same case the other day to build my new system. It is spacious, quiet and a good amount of room.
10:52 I started wondering if you were going to notice it before putting mobo in. I have been going nuts trying to figure out that old silver case in the back...looks circa 2005-2007? Pre-built top of the line offerings with the tail end of the AMD 64 chips?

Didn't know Rachel Star was into PC building, talented woman.
LOL
Bruh what, they do have similar face features
I cant see any similarity tbh
Heya Caitlin you have two pci-e 1x busses on that board that means if you grabbed 2 pci-e 1x to 16x risers they are about 7 bucks on ebay and that would let you install two more gfx cards on it.

A KFA2 HOF card would look awesome with that board, but they are quite expensive. The Board doesnt have any LEDs does it?
New to PC building. So new, in fact, that I have not built my first PC yet.

Eduardo Cortez glad you enjoyed it! Crazy how popular the AMD Athlon processors were and then AMD fell off for a while. Glad they're back!!
WOW BEAUTY AND BRAINS!!!
AND she is an old school gamer!
crazymad15 - dude, that is what initially thought, but upon closer inspection of her face, you will see this shiksa is definitely 30+ and she has most certainly smashed the wall head on. YES.. opon closer inspection and uped the pixel count, I can see the MILK all over her face. what a let down!!! But,,,,,,,Nahhhhhh!!!!!
crazymd15 - clearly you are testimony to the adage 'ignorance is bliss'. BTW dude, you should use spell check prior to posting comments.
crazymd15 simp
got an 1800x works like greased lightning you just earned a sub for using one of the best am4 motherboards
I miss build like this. If you ever have time. Can you give us more this stuff? And some tip and tricks? Please and thank
Am trying to take out my old motherboard out of my case but it wont come off I took all the screws out its just stuck in there. What can I do ❓❓❓
your a smart sharp lady, what keeps me coming back to your builds. that and your build are so cool keep up the good work caitinV3
been planning to build a ryzen with a black & white theme with that mother board and a xfx 570 graphics cant wait ...
The 3000s are out. Let's see some upgrades of CPUs with old x300 series boards! What are the benchmarks? I bet we don't need a x500 series board at all.
Why did the 8-pin cpu power not reach?
There looks to be plenty of power cable length.
This case is a really good price. Gives some vents, a window, a 5.25 bay for mods. It's a bit of everything.
Those copper tubes are fat, I like to see them. I can see the case for nickel plate or stainless. Is anyone concerned that the M.2 behind the gpu gets lots of heat and not much air?

That Q6600 was legendary.
Yes it was a great cpu! Its still getting some use, its in my daughters pc and still going strong at 3.6ghz!!
Is the Focus G build complete? Would love to see in low light...
Ill be working on a 1600 build soon too. Might go with the B350 tomahawk too. See what Microcenter has
maddfit_sto1 Microcenter will take $50 off motherboard when you buy the 1600 AND currently the 1600 cost $200
I don't know if you plan on making a video overclocking the Ryzen chip, but I've been having trouble trying to OC my Ryzen 5 1600 and need some help. Thanks for your time.
But the MSI tomahawk isn't a bit weak?
+caitlinV3 make sure you don't install the MSI Gaming App as it seems to be system crashing the Ryzen atm, i have the same motherboard and ryzen
Love the video. Wow, I recall them days of the Athlon 64 which is an eighth-generation CPU from way back in 2003. You sure can be funny in some of your videos which is refreshing for a change. Nice video Caitlin, I really appreciate this video as it has informed me on a lot of stuff I didn't know about Ryzen 5 builds haha
I'm loving this black and white build!!! Currently i have a 2500k.... would the Ryzen 5 1600x be a worthy upgrade for gaming and multitasking?
Wow a girl into PCs! You know your stuff n definitely need to go big in terms of subs. Finally a female doing PC builds💯💯💯💯💯
I got the msi bazooka black with white accents, same ram and nzxt s340 white. A couple white led fans and it should look pretty good. Not as much white as this board but still think it'll be nice.
entertaining to watch. I'll be doing a 1600x or 1700 build soon to replace my old Fx build. You have awesome eyes by the way

Hi. I recently did a build in the Fractal Focus G and not yet finished either but it runs.
That looks (looked?) really nice. Computers are mostly black in side, so the white makes for a very nice change.
I am going to get the red version of this Fractal Design "Focus G" case to replace this very irritating Aerocool case I have (also with a Ryzen 5 1600, as it happens).

Mr. Wonderful eh, I suppose. I've never tested outside the case. But removing the motherboard after installation is a pain for sure.
my build is very similar actually. except i opted for the regular tomahawk, the ryzen 1700 and the corsair spec-a chasis.
why on earth wouldn't you do a post test before you put it in the box?! takes like 10-15extra minutes an everything already hooked up so if it posts just in in hook your power pick up your board an throw it in the case well remove the gpu then install board but still a lot better to do this then put it in the case an find out somethings doa cause thats a bad day:(
does this mobo support that ram? it's not listed on MSI's website
Thank you very much ! Great video! My grandchild and I subscribe . I bought all the same parts and with this video my 9 year old and I built her first computer. Works great. Thank you very much!
Hey. I couldn't screw in my CPU cooler. I had a similar build. I have to send back my ryzen 1600 and amd motherboard. :(
can't wait to see your benchmarks?
Beauty and PC wisdom ,all in one . Millions of likes .
I moslty watched this to see how the HD audio cable would fit with a GPU installed. although my built will also have a opitla drive installed too
Do you like CARBON FIBER? I asking about x370 Biostar GT7 board. I have it and can help you.
Hi ma'am,
I wanted a gaming rig with that kind of aesthetics but can also handle programming practices. I just wanted to hear any thoughts if these parts are enough...
mobo: msi arctic ab350 pro tomahawk
cpu: ryzen 5 1500x
gpu: asus dual gtx 1060 O6G 6gb
ram: any 8gb white ram (or with led)
many thanks ☺️
Will you be upgrading to the new three-thousand series CPU's? I hope so!!!
Really nice build but that copper pipes on the gpu are a " punch in the eyes " XD
Hehe, never heard that expression used in English before. It's true though, the copper is a bit of an eyesore in this build.
good job touching the gold contacts on the graphics card right in the info...
Hey that's a nice build you're doing I know it's going to be awesome when your finish I have a FX 8320E system but and July I'm going to be swapping to a Ryzen 5 1600X red and black.
There was a tool included to install risers
Water-cooling next?
I just came across this video and subbed. I like how you did the video more "organically" instead of speeding through and playing music lol
DLT3C 1800+ was a rockin chip, broke about 12 of them in phase change tho
Stock termopaste quantity too low i remove it. i have R5 1600@ 4000 on stock cooler in open bench stand. And put one fan on top and one on bottom.
I see you build a lot of stuff, do you have your CompTIA A+? Do you think it's necessary to have it?
Would this motherboard look good with a silver and black spec alpha case?
Yay AMD , my first build was an Atlhon too , i still have it in my "collection" , just a tip if i may , i think you could round the cpu cooler cable the other side and it ll not be in front of the rams loose , yay bling bling Ryzen
Did you have to do a bios update?
You mean athlon 64 x2? Socket am2?
does v3 mean version 3 or am I way of the ball park
How much MHZ the ram did run , did they were able to run on 2933 or less ?
Nice build but missing the first boot.
I have the same case but in black. I did however buy my daughter the white one. I love the case.
looking forward to the final build and your benchmarks :)
I'm running an Athlon 64 X2 4200 in my media computer. Runs fine. Plays 1080 without a hitch. Building an AMD FX 8370 rig now. I'm so behind the times....but I save my money for other toys.
Finaly! Someone uses the Corsair sticks without that "shield"! Looks great.
i have not build an AMD system since AMD athlon XP I bought a 1700+ and pencil unlocked it to 2800+ :-)
PS your sound is pretty sharp if you can hang up some sound dampening it will sound alot nicer (curtains and flags help on the cheap)
I've never seen the "arctic" variant, looks great! hope you addressed cable management lol.
hi, i saw the rams are for an Intel socket, ¿are they good to ryzen?
Nice, im doing mine too :D Gigabyte Aorus K7 :D, keep it going, nice editing, light, and angles. ;) you have my support.
Informative and fun. I liked this style of building up the pc. Subbed.
when will we see you do extreme OC with LN2 power modding and threadripper CPU? XD
I remember buying the black card-like Athlons back then. First game I had I think, was Unreal Tournament. :)
My retro xp gaming pc is is an AMD Athlon II X4 640 overclocked to 3.4 ghz .
Somehow I feel the orientation of the fan of AMD's stock cooler to be wrong, fortunately it's symmetrical (a Cooler Master fan, btw) so it can be reoriented in 4 different ways.
Are you on steemit yet?
damn those arms are stronger than mine, cool video keep it up
great video, looking forward to see the final product!
hi caitlinV3,can you show the cable managment for FD focus G case
She said top down, hehehe... Seriously though, thinking about that case with a Gigabyte x370 k5 Ryzen 1700.....
are you a fallout fan? complete the nuke and pipboy display
You will one day make a guy the luckiest man alive! Also, I have a suggestion, add some very soft background music, It enhances the video quite a bit :)
