It always amazes me, seeing the most incredible brickwork in these underground tunnels. It really takes you back to a time when such craftsmanship was commonplace.
Top work as always lads. Used to go to school in Dover and found an entrance to one of these tunnels nearby - had great fun seeing how far in we could get during lunch breaks.
Absolutely awesomely fascinating tunnels! There is an abandoned road tunnel 5 minutes from my house that was never officially opened, I had heard about it for decades and just after lockdown we went and found it but all bricked up and has only ventilation hole's to see into we found it's flooded about 7ft high so no getting in there, far to dangerous but fascinating!
Thanks for a great video. Many, many years ago a friend of mine worked in the then Immigration Centre. He said a worker there had told him that he had, from the Centre, entered a descending tunnel. He walked, he said, for one and a half hours without coming to the end. He never had opportunity to repeat the journey but later learned that some locals believed there was tunnel that linked, under the town, too Dover Castle.
Myself and a mate did this as kids when it was all open and on a recent visit was met by a sheet of steel, though the fort above is still accessible with a little climb
Fascinating video. I moved to Dover only a year ago so you can guess how surprised I was to see my name in the graffiti at 13:04 "M KENNETT 1947". Strange thing is, the graffiti was done 14 years before I was born.
@@IKS-Exploration Looking forward to it! The drone shots show what the other lines & trenches would look like if they hadn't been filled in or got overgrown.
That tall corridor looks like it was originally only up higher and another circular staircase down where that vent shaft is, it was then dug down to the current level with a slope, I'd say to remove the bottleneck of the circular staircase when moving troops or munitions along the tunnel from strong point to strong point.
0:29 Weird! I saw what appears to be Anti-Tank Blocks on the bottom left of Dover Castle. I used Google Earth and zoomed in, but barely saw them! I can't wait until you find an unexploded Buzz Bomb. =O
WOW, what a Gem of a place to explore. Regarding where they broke through the brick wall instead of the chalk wall to extend the tunnel, could have been a navigation error LOL. Also, did you hear the evp towards the end, after you and Chris climbed the stairs back up to the next level, in between you and Chris talking. Sounded like it started saying 99 and possibly said hundred after that and then said something that we couldn't make out. It was a mans voice and sounded like he had a slight accent, it actually had vocal tone so it's easily heard, it sounded like the voice echoes slightly. He repeated the same thing just as the music started on the end. Absolutely awesome video as always!!!
I wish I would have found this channel a long time ago been watching some other channel and I'll just say I like the way you guys stop and explain everything like this was for this this was probably for that you know I've seen countless other people in tunnels but never pointed out the marking system for distance
The incline at 15 minuits atthe T junction is where they would of started the tunels with no brick lining and used a incline muker to remove the waste rock
18 minuits near the spiral star case ypu can see where the floor was worn like a u to the spira stair case whitch use to be a shaft to drop therock down or winch out
Climbing up cliffs/rocks (I think it was beehive bay but it was many years ago) and high up was very old graffiti. It was spelt correctly and beautifully carved. I mean stone mason level of carving with the 's' looking like an 'f'. Climb down and the later the graffiti became until at the bottom it was no more than scratchings, repeated 'F' words and spelt incorrectly. A symbolic statement of the descent of man. From culture and literacy to little more than grunting lumpenproletariat. That really stuck in my mind.
This place is an archive of GOLDEN GEMS FOLKS 👌 INDEED the graffiti alone is great and strange the tunneling that never bricked , do you think WW2 extension 🤔🤔 the original brickwork is deteriorating and crumbling , would be interesting to see the start n evolution of these places there's gotta be plans for them someplace , alot a History FOLKS imagine all who served that have been there , is that chunks of Obsidian in the chalk 🤔🤔 Great Place Take Care Brother
I cannot tell the orientation of the structure above compared to the blank tunnells but if they are beyond the walls could they be counter mines, prepared in case of seige?
Hi. Any new. Explores Ian. I found. A pill box bunker. In pitsea basildon essex. Behind the crematorium in pitse. But you get ther e. By railway pitsea station. There’s a road just before station on left go down it then you see on right a cut through. Sign saying footpath. Go in through gap then turn left. llook you see a gate green go through. Then see sign. Saying pitsea to Benfleet go straight on on the path till a bridge cross that. Then on till next gate go through. Then look on your left you see pill box. Bunker. In field. Good luck exploring. Ian.
great video you guys....you might have a look a ''star forts''....Dover (both eastern and western heights) is/are star forts also known as bastion forts ....a worldwide phenomena....most with massive underground tunnel systems....such as Tilbury and many structures along the Thames estuary.....starforts.com/uk.html

Thanks Ian and Chris IKS Exploration for the win
Amazing brickwork in those old fortifications. Thanks for the tour gents!
This is rather special. Bloody lovely. Nice and clean as well

Can't beat abit of early morning iks👍 urself & the secret vault are the best urbex channels,
With all the tunnels under there it's a wonder what's holding the castle up! :D
Great Drone footage fella.

Would love to enjoy a day with you two exploring hidden historical gems. Unfortunately I live in iom
It hurts my mind to think of now much painstaking masonry work went into all of that.
I bet the guys doing that works were built like brick shit houses. They are essentially lifting weights all day long every day.
Love the aerial footage of the citadel!
Recorded loads of drone footage before the flight restrictions. Video about the citadel coming soon ;)

Hi guys, a very cool explore, thanks for sharing. xx
This place and the ones nearby prove the genius of William Twiss
Yet another class A video from the IKS team.

All I can say is wow.
this place is huge and amazing thank you for showing great work
thank you SIR
thank you sir

How do you guys not get lost in them tunnels lol
I imagine that was all a bright White when freshly carved so I mention that also made it extremely easy to light
Always enjoy your cinematic drone intros. Definitely a golden gem this one. 100% sealed people.
Thanks folk :)
@@IKS-Exploration still waiting for @sub exploration to show us the other hidden gems near there
It always amazes me, how well them tunnels are build. I mean very long tunnels underground and oxigen everwhere.
Brilliant explore as always👍

Looks like someone left their resuscitation practice dummy in there at 11:58 😂
Brilliant stuff as always 👍

The V R on the fireplace means .Victoria Regina
Imagine sandblasting that, then polishing it.
Great video 👍🏽 enjoyed
Good work guys 😊
There’s also some in pitsea marsh. Off. Rectory road pitsea. Ok. There’s 2. I think
The government should renovate that and make it an expedition on the history of Dover

Holy Jesus Batman... lol
god them poor yellow trainers were binned years ago lol
Only found this channel from a Gordon ramsay video
From my comments on his video ?
I don't understand why nobody throughout history has just picked a date far into the future and carved it into the Rock just as a joke
Have you found Chester copperpot yet 😉
Do you guys ever sign the walls in places like this? It would be neat to leave something behind. Perhaps something like a custom coin/token.
Only thing we leave is footprints folk
IKS follow the rules of the urbexer, and I wish more people would, too:
"Leave only footprints. Take only photographs."
nope never :-(
Another amazing place going to waste. These historical places should be opened up to the public £1 to visit so they can be kept for the future.
3RD SUP BRO !!!!!!
