  • Hello, it's been 1.5 years since I made my original video.
This video will sum up my experience with the backlight bleed.

It’s depressing that we have to resort to fixing these issues ourselves. For years I had LCD/LED monitors and never had any bleed, since then, nearly every new one looks like crap from the factory.
On a positive note, this helped my Samsung G5 monitor and worked well, so thank you for the video!

I totally agree with you and the most embarrassing thing is hearing the manufacturers themselves claim this problem as something normal being part of the panel. It happens to me with a recently purchased LG screen model UQ8050, it has 1 and I still have the same problem. I honestly wouldn't know what to do, does this technique really work?

Thanks for video, I have ips glow and I'm kinda relieved you said its normal. I know the difference between bleed and glow, you only really notice it in black scenes at certain veiwing angles if I'm playing a game generally you can't see it. I'm not new to monitors but I have had my pc hooked up to an LG oled for the past 2 years so I guess I just have to get back used to a monitor now 🤪

BB happens to me when everytime I clean my room because I use to move them by holding both corners of the monitor. To avoid from it dont touch the screen even if single tap. Always use the stand of the monitor if your about to move them.

I thought about just making a small clamp out of two pieces of plastic and a nut and bolt. It would look ugly, but you could dial in just the right amount of pressure and leave it overnight. Then take it off and hopefully there shape will be retained. Probably, wouldn't be a bad idea to turn brightness up as high as possible to heat up the display before you do this.

I applied pressure on the front trim of my dell latitude e7270 and it seems to fix the IPS glow (not fully but some of it) until I stop! However, there are some displays that don't have black light bleed & IPS glow. Also, there was a technology some years ago that solved these issues!

    Very logical, technical and thoughtful..
Definitely a great DIY at home tip, especially after it leaves the production unit (with all quality issues of course..😀). The only concern here is to be wary of the pressure applied and for how long in intervals, lest that generates any secondary damages to the system in the run..
The bottom line is, cold plastic can be moulded with persistent exertion over time.
    ..good one👍

  • @manny_f
    @manny_f Год назад +6

This wont work most of the time because plastic just springs back to it's original shape. Manufacturers really need to get their shit together and design things in a way that the display panel is not being pressed against. I can't believe we are still having to deal with this. I'm returning a monitor tomorrow because of this nonsense.

Hey dude, iam still sitting here with the problem while having a Samung Odyssey G7 ( its a curved panel.) I also tried rubbing etc, but that didnt make any improvements. However, yesterday i found out that the problem is lying in the frame of the monitor. The Back side isn´t properly adjusted to the screen, so i got 2 brackets on it which hold the frame together and since then no BLB anymore. But i don´t know if itll last or if itll come back after a hwile when i get rid of them? You think the frame will adapt to the pressure the 2 brackets are doing on the panel?

You need to ignore it a little bit - I know it's hard.

Can ips glow happen on wva screens? I can't tell if mine is backlight bleeding or ips glow, i'd say it's backlight bleeding cus on two parts i can see a brightest part and it gets brighter when i squeeze. It's on a notebook and i can't tell if i should change it cus it's still on warranty because i've heard some people that have sent the notebook and received a new one with even worse lights on the screen.

I just bought an 85 inch Samsung q60b and same problem all over the corners. Its an easy menu fix...on Samsung you go into the main menu and go to expert settings and go to backlight settings and adjust it from there. Also go to settings then general then power and energy saving make sure brightness optimasation is enabled. It will automatically adjust the black screen according to light in the room. You can also go to picture setting go to shadow detail it adjust the black images the lower you go the blacker they get i leave it at -2. Ive done all this and its 90% better its still there but ever so faintly. I don't even notice it anymore. So annoying when you pay so much for these tvs. These settings can be achieved on most tvs if you just go into your menu options. Don't be afraid to do it as long as you don't change anything you can back out of the menu by hitting the back button or if your changing something take a pic of it on your phone first so you can go back and put it were it was or just do a picture only reset..hope this helps.

Interesting I have the exact issue with a 65" Samsung q60b, but my 65" does NOT have a separate backlight adjustment in the expert settings.
