Thanks for this explanation. I totally agree with this. I am following a different strategy. I set my goal first. Say 10L invest for 5 years and I need 15% ROI. I am expecting 20L in 5 years. So I invested 10L in MF in 2019 and planned to keep it for 5 years. Last month ( After 3 years) the 10L became 24L and I withdraw my fund and after tax deduction, I got a profit of around 12L. Now I took my capital back and put 5L in FD, Purchased gold coin for 5L, 10 L invested back in another Mutual fund and expecting the same kind of return in next 5 years.

I think its better to invest in different scheme tht is in fd, equity, sip, ncd etc. Like my invstmt. And keep some amount as liquid always for emergency

10 % and 15 % return is just a chance , there is always a difference between chance and surety , nobody can predict the future of Equity !(Covid is the biggest example ) You always want to protect your capital in the initial part of your saving and after that i think investment in equity is the best option !!
