A tip for young drummers - He was 59 when this was done. A lot of drummers are done by 40 (just as athletes) so it is as difficult to find a 60 year old drummer with chops as it is to find a 60 year old football player that can play. He plays the drums as good as Mercury sings, and as good as May plays guitar. Yet, not once did he try to show off with solos, even though he is amazing at the drums, that is humility at its best.
+Elanor Wallipoe Please! Showing off is the only reason rock musicians exist! With the obvious exceptions of background players like deacon, Queen were all about "look what we can do mum". Ask any successful virtuoso and Freddie, Brian and Roger were all virtuosos. Humility is vacant on stage when you have a talent to show off.
+craig again Yeah I guess your right, but I'm talking about how Roger didn't like doing solos, and how he could have done them(solos) yet he still didn't do them, but your probably right not me.
the last thing Brian may is or ever could be is a guitar virtuoso, all his guitar parts are orchestrated, the man has explored every knook and cranny of the parameters of his abilities but he is no Vai/ Satriani
Most definitely he is a drumming rock legend and vocalist as well. Roger was the party boy of the band! Everybody thinks that Freddie Mercury was the wildest but he really wasn't. It was Roger. Freddy just got a lot of flak when Paul prenter came to the band in 1977 after they were managing themselves and he was Freddie Mercury's personal manager and a horrible influence on him. I think that Paul was super in love with Freddie in reality and he knew Freddie was not in love with him, & then Paul just decided that he would hang with Freddy and use him for whatever he could get. Freddie was very generous and paid for all of the party stuff in addition to a lot of meals for people that work for the Royal Ballet that didn't make much money. He became really good friends with most of those guys and that's where he met Peter Freestone that later became his personal assistant and close friend. Freddie also got certain drugs and Paul had a horrible cocaine habit. Freddie would use cocaine occasionally, but he was not an addict like Paul Prenter.
Its because Roger and Brian got lazy let Freddie rest in peace and create something different instead of getting no talents from American Idol to sing Queen songs
And that is why his playing is so satisfying to the year! He always has the best fills at the proper place in the song. Short and straight to the point - just nails it right home!
He was such a cutie and most definitely by the late 70s and 80s when he cut his hair shorter. Is longer hair was okay but I really like Brian's hair and Freddy's hair longer because Freddy had gorgeous natural black wavy hair and I'm sure women were jealous of it because they wanted hair like that. It was okay when he cut it a little shorter in 1976 but when he cut it all off in 1980 & grew the mustache I thought he was still handsome looking to spite his buck teeth but the mustache hid that a lot. I just don't care for facial hair and I loved Freddy's hair eyes and facial structure between 1974 and 1979. God she had beautiful eyes and beautiful hair. John Deacon definitely look better with shorter hair and I love that perm he had for Live Aid

Queen is more popular now and even in the past 10 years or so then they were in the 1970s and they got a lot of s*** from going to perform in Sun City and Rodger said he wish he never heard of the damn place " son f*cking City". Bryan on the other hand said that he was glad they went there and he will say to his dying day that they went there for all the right reasons but you know the tabloids only put that Queen went to Sun City just to make a lot of money. They were so generous of a band and chartered and opens that school for those people and I thought it was so wonderful but the Cowboys never wrote about that. That's okay because the year later when Live Aid came around and every band thought that Queen days of being one of the best bands were over especially after hot space in 1982 and The Works in 1984 was really good but not as good as News of the World jazz Bohemian Rhapsody sheer heart attack, & Bob Geldof ordered them to regroup and perform at Live Aid but they had just gotten back from tour in May and they really just wanted a break from each other for a while. Bob Geldof went back to his office and told his assistant that he told Freddie he was doing it😂😂 lol Freddie was fine with it, but he just kind of had to be talked into it a little bit after coming off of tour, and then right before the concert Fred gets a throat infection and his doctor tells him not to perform but he did anyway. Despite all of the crap spread about this band for a year and especially just prior to Live Aid when the bands that were performing new Queen was going to be part of the show three weeks before the concert and they all thought that Queen had their time and they were past their golden years. WRONG! QUEEN so that show and slammed everybody into the wind and they knew it.
Roger is so awesome! As is Queen in general, but really, Roger is incredible! I get tired in my arms from just watching the drum solo, and then playing I'm in love with my car just after! Rodger has one hell of a voice and he was always singing those very high pitch notes in the operatic section of Bohemian Rhapsody + under pressure and all of their other songs. When they were singing In Harmony Rogers voice was loud and Powerful like Freddie Mercury's but he had the highest pitch and you can hear him and Freddy over everybody. If you want to hear and see Rodger at his best you got to see live in Montreal 1981 Somebody to Love because Freddie Mercury and Rodger Taylor really do that song 100% and then some!! Roger Taylor at his best. Not only a fantastic drummer with so recognisable back-beat, but also great singer and songwriter. See kids, this is what true musician means.
After LIAR on the first album and then a track called Some Day, One Day on Queen II it became obvious that this was a drummer I could enjoy and went to see four live shows... still enjoying his work 46 years later.
Power without watts Mr. Talyor is one of the most smoothest Rock Drummers of all time with versatile rythems that couldn't have been played any better to Queens enormous sound,The song,He wrote about a race car driver,I'm in love with my car is perfect, when,I her it,its in my heart,And in that moment I'm one with Roger Taylor,Long Live Queen
Rogers falsettos were incredible and Freddie Mercury used to always say that Roger had a dog whistle voice. I always thought that John Deacon was the underrated guy and queen because he was the youngest and a bass player but he was just damn good and joins the band in 1971 when he was only 19 years old. But John was mentored by Freddie a lot and encouraged to sing because John didn't want to and Fred mentored him a lot with writing. Freddie Mercury's death broke them all and the entire band was torn up but I do believe that John Deacon took it the hardest of all of them even though he had been friends with Brian and Rodger and even lived in shared an apartment with them long before the band even got together. People think that Freddy was the argument of one of the group but actually Freddy was the most diplomatic and would try to break it up when it started to her just as it showed in Bohemian Rhapsody when he walked in during Rodger and Brian argument over their songs. He was diplomatic saying "what are you talkin abouy?" &, Brian said they were arguing because Roger White 2 song better and Brian didn't think it was strong enough. BS because this is the song that Rodger Taylor Road and he locked himself in a Cupboard until the band agreed that the song can be on the B side Bohemian Rhapsody 45 single😂😂😂 Rami Malek played Freddie very well and that's when he told Roger " there's only room enough in this band for one hysterical Queen" baahaaaa but. Freddy was actually very shy but he was very goofy and funny around the people that he knew well. They were all hilarious especially Roger and Freddie we're by far the most hysterical; and then John, would come out of nowhere and have people laughing so hard they stomach hurt because people weren't expecting it from him since he was quieter.
@@scottwalters3436 who's your favorite? I'm going to guess Eddie Van Halen or the drummer for The Police. That is a must see
Great to see Roger Taylor unleashed ! Damn fine drummer one of the UKs best .
Jack Russell Love how Brian May just casually rips that lovely guitar into the song
Great song!!!
Jack Russell definitely. I think him and Ringo are UKs best. And that Roger is the best in the world
I think that Rodger Taylor and the drummer for the police were awesome and two of my favorite drummers from the UK
I love how he opens the hi hats when he hits the snare! It gives such a great sound!
It breaks my heart to hear he has hearing aids now. This man has dedicated his life to music and it’s taken its toll.
Extremely best drummer wonderful range of voice. It's you Roger Taylor.I still love Queen.
Still watching this stuff after seeing the film. Don’t stop me now!!!
it's just a bit weird, roger. what exactly are you doing with that car?
It's a car thing. You wouldn't understand.
"IT'S A METAPHOR, BRIAN"
Hate people like u
Freddie.is.daddy lmao have you watched the movie sis?
@@armyfamilypremiere391 yea but people just randomly comment this ..like it could be in the comment section of a sad queen vid and they'll be hella irrelevant
Todavía tiene esa voz tan impresionante!!! (Y)
This song belongs to my life for more than forty years and still remains amazing !
I am literally shocked. Positively shocked of course. This man is really a beast. All my love and admiration to him, and to Brian. This is the meaning of the word 'talent'. These are the 'LEGENDS'.🔥
Roger Taylor at his best. Not only a fantastic drummer with so recognisable back-beat, but also great singer and songwriter. See kids, this is what true musician means.
And to think roger hid in a cupboard for this moment... and it was well worth it
After LIAR on the first album and then a track called Some Day, One Day on Queen II it became obvious that this was a drummer I could enjoy and went to see four live shows... still enjoying his work 46 years later.
His voice has not changed, still the same😍😍✨
Even at such an age Roger can still sing like himself back in the 80’s😍. RockNRoll man!
Roger rocks as always
Power without watts Mr. Talyor is one of the most smoothest Rock Drummers of all time with versatile rythems that couldn't have been played any better to Queens enormous sound,The song,He wrote about a race car driver,I'm in love with my car is perfect, when,I her it,its in my heart,And in that moment I'm one with Roger Taylor,Long Live Queen
Fenomenalny perkusista i wspaniały mężczyzna....moje serce należy do niego ❤❤❤❤
One of the best ever, Mr. Roger Taylor!
i wanna have a man like him... he still loves his car after all those years
Rewatching the last episode of "Good Omens" and I had to come here to listen to the full song!!!!!!!
Loved that solo...very fun and creative. And, one of my fave Queen songs! Amazing! Thanks for posting.

Pensar que estuvieron en Santiago. No pude verlos 😢😢😢😢😢Grande Maestro Roger.
Best drummer in the world ❤️ no more falsetto, but still love his voice! Thanks for showing this masterpiece!

The best drummer in recent times ...
*of all time
Mr Taylor, this is the first time I have ever seen peace. by piece brought up to you. You are amazing. You definitely just made my day. Thank you.
FANTASTIC !Roger is a great inspiration for all the musicians
extraordinary performance after all these years! you see the rock spirit has no age!! great drummer and songwriter too
why his voice is everygreen, I mean from the day he wrote this song, he sings like this .
Seeing this live on this tour (wasnt santiago, but in cardiff) and all this build up and drum solo.. was breathtaking.
Yeah Keith Moon and John Bonham have their place but so does this guy ! Incredibly talented and hugely inspirational !
I love when roger, sings this song, one of my favorite roger, solo's.
And has a unique voice. A very beautiful voice.
wow he really gave this amazing solo then sang like it was nothing. A king
One of the best drummers in the world
Sounds pretty good for a guy pushing 70! He is an awesome drummer. One of my fav Queen songs.
Increible ! Es un genio Roger .. Exelente baterista!!!
Most unappreciated voice and musician in Queen. Incredible falsetto voice, even better than Freddie, especially on Bohemian Rhapsody! So talented.
Even after all these years, Roger is still one of the best drummers ever :)
BEST Drummer of ALL TIME!!!
YES!!
I dont think so
I agree and I think he is every bit as good or better than Phil Collins and he's definitely as good as the drummer for The Police.
@@scottwalters3436 who's your favorite? I'm going to guess Eddie Van Halen or the drummer for The Police. They're all good and I think the Brian May was underrated as a lead guitarist because he's freaking incredible and I think better than Jimmy Page despite what many people say. I like Brian style of rock music a lot better
@@montrelouisebohon-harris7023 ni mate, my favourite is buddy rich, roger is very good and he plays for queen for god sake! But buddg was the man, jojo mayer, and billy cobham and stuart copeland
Roger still sounds the same from Rock Montreal in 1981
