- Today we talk about the Lexus SC300. The SC300 is a luxury sports coupe produced by Toyota from 1991 to 2000. It was a rear-wheel drive car with a 3.0L 2JZ engine and featured a sleek, sporty design. It was considered a more luxurious and powerful alternative to the Toyota Supra of the same time period.

The SC community isn’t going to like this. Only reason you can find these cars for under 10k still is because no one knows what they are
Shud I start to pile up on the used JDM parts inventory? We still got a lot of 1J and the body parts in South East Asia where I'm currently base.
I don’t mind it lol… my $600 SC just quadrupled in price thanks to this video lmao 😂
@@princesssolace4337 no. Parts hoarders are just as bad for the car community as takeovers. If you have parts you arent using, either give them away or sell them. Dont pile them up and collect them and wait until they're almost impossible to find just to make these cars harder and more expensive for people who dont have 10k lying around for parts.
Knew.. after this vid 10k will be a steal
Raise the price, so I can sell mine lol
It used to be an unspoken rule that if you know what this car actually is you don’t talk about it.. that went to hell 🤣
Just like your favorite fishing spot smh
I'm 20 and just bought my first car a 95 Sc300 😏 after working n saving for 8 months literally dreamed about buying this car and visualized it happening and now I finally have it, it needs some work but I'm so close to finishing it and taking it for the first spin good luck to all my sc fam
My son had one i had a mk3.These cars are extremely heavy. They were a best kept secret but you can still find them cheap because not many people like the style.
Soarer > Supra
Fight me.
just bought a beautiful sc400 from 1992, every day it surprises me on how much of a gem it is
Same here! Bought mine years ago, and I'm old enough to remember the Soarers in the wild (when I lived in Japan). The SC/Soarers are the SICKEST value in the sports car world.
@twinscrollturbo4410 i was thinking of supercharging it for reliabilty because i dont see a lot of turbo packages for these that dont require crazy $$$ for custom fab
The Momo Boy Racer steering wheel on that Lexus is an abomination.
Why wasn’t it competition to the supra? Glass transmission?
I wish we had the SC300 in Canada! I love my 2004 IS300! The sound!, the feel of the car hugging the road! The only car I have owned that puts a smile on my face just thinking about the next drive!
I’m selling my 92 SC400 if you or anyone you know are interested!
Scion TC
Finally someone who makes a video abt this car. Definitely my favourite car of all time
FYI the JZZ30 chassis pre dates the MK4 Supra
calling the W58 manual "glass" is a bit misleading. sure with any "powah builds" you wanna replace it. But we have to remember that when we're talking power builds with a 2j, that automatically means like 600HP. You can safely run 350HP on the W58. Over 400HP is where you start to run into issues. I'd say a trans that can hold a cool 150HP over stock is not bad. that is plenty of headroom for a sub-15psi NA-T build.
Great video on this lexus sc300. It's a great car .I have 1 for over 10 years with a 2jzgte vvti swap
The Soarer/SC came first. Supra is based off of it.
it was a Lexus SC300 Project first’ released in 1991 before it was Rebadged and released as a Toyota Soarer 3rd Gen in Japan.. its the other way around.. ✌️the mark 4 Supra came 2 years later in 1993..
I had a 93 and sold it back in 08 to pick a part after the head gasket blew for $300 bucks, needless to say I’m regretting it now🤦🏾♂️
I got over the sc300 kinda quick. As a child I fawned over the a80/mk4, but then I got into auto tech and found out out about the SCs. Went to look at the cleanest white 60k mile sc400… but it didn’t work out. Years later and after college though, I was able to land myself a steal and got a black sc400 slick top… then like a couple months later another steal.. a low mile sc300 for the cheap. Well. Spent like thirty grand on building it… it was exactly like the supras I liked as a kid lmaoooo. But I sold it. Tbh, I think the boosted 400s are cooler now. Idk why I told this story lmao
Did you say 30k 🙄🙄🙄
I'm going to double back
i have a feeling that the sc 300 is going to be mk4 supra level unobtainium in the next 2-5 years
Hope so!
Just because a car cost less doesn't make it a better car. The Supra is the better car. It had a better gearbox, better brakes, was overall more performance orientated, and although styling is subjective, most people would agree it looks better. These reasons alone, the Supra will always cost more, but that's doesn't mean the Super isn't the better car.
need me an is300. i have the sc300 or jzz30 gttl and gs300 and mx83 cressida
also the soarer has all the trim bits that the lexus did. its just a matter of bodies of water and which side the steering wheel is on separating the labels
also. its the first curvy car made, everything beforehand was boxy
Finally a video that mentions that soarers also came with 2JZ’s
Thoughts on the 3.0l 2jz non turbo engine in the 97 soarer ?
Ill be honest. i Own a toyota soarer 1991 it seems more luxurious than the SC400. It has touch screen from factory, Memory seats, leather interior, digital speedometer, air suspension, cabin air filtration system, cruise control and also a DVD player in the boot.
Do you live in Japan ? Sc400 came out in 92 and was shipped/sold in other countries other than Japan that's why most features aren't like the first model
@@everyonelovesnoah japanese import. They never sold them in the UK.
@@jacobwood6028 nicee brah
Miss mine gonna re buy. Great video
Marvin Great Content my 1995 Lexus sc300 has the R134 trans, 1jzgte vvti with 6766 precision turbo 700 wheel hp with E85
You forgot to mention. The aftermarket isn’t as big as you think. Finding parts for these things kinda suck
I miss mine 🥺
Stock SC300 is like drifting a boat, in a good way :)
Love driving mine when it rains for that matter lol
OK lets talk about the JZX100 and how the price is rapidly shooting up because Americans have learned about it.
I miss my sc 😢 it was a 99, with the facelift, I had a gte block and head I was getting machined but ended up having to sell the sc because my outside of city limits home got annexed and where it is inside city limits you can’t store an “inoperable” vehicle on public or private property. (Inoperable can be as small as not having plates, even if the car is fully operable) so it ended up being let it get towed and get stuck with the bill, or sell it. Nobody wanted to buy the basket case, roller but otherwise together. Had no choice but to sell it to a scrapper for $200. Still makes my blood boil
Laws like that should be illegal
I can understand the law about leaving it in public, BUT YOU'RE NOT ALOWED TO STORE IT ON PRIVATE PROPERTY???, HUH????
i dont get why no body is talking about how little this dude understands, it isn't the same 2jz, and the reason they are so cheap isn't because people don't know about it, it's because the engine is very mechanically different than a 2jz-gte. While they share a block, you won't find the same forged internals and the "easy 500 wheel" you talk about in a 2jz-ge, the sc300 will need around 7k in forged engine internals to sustain that power without snapping a rod. The reason supra's are expensive is because the 2jz they contain can actually sustain around 700 wheel horse power without being opened up by forcing some more air and fuel into the cylinders.
Only the ge vvti needs upgraded rods for over 500hp reliably. The ge non-vvti had the same rods as the gte and a very similar bottom end with really the only difference being the gte had oil squirters and different oil and coolant pumps. Thanks.
Im pushing 550whp on a 200,xxx mile 2jzge, sooooo yea there more than capable
the SC is basically a poor man supra
Yoo the manual turbo came with a r154 which is a very good box. Not as good as the v160 but much better than the non turbo variant w58. R154 will handle 600hp no worries
Lmao dude said miata turns heads
Parts or hard to find or very expensive!! But great car !!
Sc400 Ltd was way better. Engine was amazing
Both the sc300 and sc400 had great motors
Can people stop being this car up, I don’t need the value going up
It's not popular outside of Japan and maybe Australia. The Z is SWB
Nice one🤝🔥💯👍💪
Around 30,000 cars is not a lot of cars. That’s pretty rare to me
There isn’t anything “glass” about the 5 speed.
"Glass" meaning they broke easy. For every story about pushing 450hp through a w58(might be w55, i dont remember), theres always someone that says theirs broke at 300.
@@cvolkmedia the Soarer JZZ30 manual boxes were all strongish R154 boxes, but are rare from factory.
I swear if people start raising prices on the sc300 ima flip.
Just hoping prices dont go up before i cab finally geta. License
Im have 3 34gtrs, 2 supras, 1 rx7 and 3 240sx sit in garage all low mileage
These are well known in the U.K. and also use the Toyota badge too.
Is300 was my favorite car
My twin bro had a SC300 standard and it was fast...
Toyota Soarer number one in my book have had mine since 2000 if you go in a deep dive you will find toyota used 1jz 3.0 in the 80's soarer Japan only, I don't agree with big turbo look for a 1jz and keep her at 400 hp more then enough for street and luxury let the mass of people stay with the supra
Sucks Canada never got the SC300 but only the SC400
But they ugly. Any car guy will know where the honey pot engines are but just ugly. However a 1uzfe with a good breathing head and exhaust sounds sick.
i own a 300 and a 400 great cars wont ever get rid of em
but if u had to choose one...? XD
Should I sell my sc300 for a 350z for speed reasons or no??
What do you plan to do with the car?
We owe these cars a lot lol
Bruh this channel is just some dude spilling all the unheard car stuff just for some clout. Most car channels do that anyways. A lot of cars/engine that were not heard about get overpriced bc of videos like these.
Dude don’t talk about it
Why all you people do is talk bullshit. There's noo CAR in or around the Toyota 2JZ SUPRA ERA that can be compared to the mk4 Toyota supra. It's not a joke.
I have only seen 1 GS300 ever. It did sound good tho :D
The poor man's Mazda Cosmo.
Biggie had one
Bubble lex
GOOD VIDEO
Delete this vid now I struggle finding a decent sc400 for less than 8k already and now it’s gonna be alot harder 😂
Ya they wernt that known because the majority only came in an automatic.. so if its a manual probably a swap. Or super rare. I only remember them as like old lady cars. Lol
W58 isnt glass... I have a 5spd 95 sc300, 92 sc300, 92sc400, 95sc400 and a 97 sc400... get them.while they're still 1/10th of a mrk4!!! Or just let me buy them all!!!
It most definitely is unless it's low miles and stock
Soarer ?
It is an OK car but the MK4 Supra is better. No one dreams of owning a SC300... they compromise .. because they want a Supra but can't afford one.
Generally yes and but in part -no. The extra wheel base(plus a more compliant suspension) of the sc300/400 and soarer mean they don't suffer the axle tramp/loss of traction at the drag strip like the Supras can. The frame around the windows , plus no rear hatch, also mean that they are less rattley than supras. Back seat is pointless in the supra. In terms of SC looks, it is really only the separate high beam headlights that spoil it for me. the rest is awesome, especially if you have the front lip and rear spoiler.. And yes, the drive experience is very similar between the two cars, which is no surprise given the chassis and suspension etc.
@@blakegloyn9648 and none of those negative things stopped the supra from entering the 6 sec range on the strip or 7 second range with the six-speed. speed. It was also extremely successful in JGTC too. Who cares about back seats in a sports car? That is an insurance thing only...
Again no one dreams of SC300's... it is just a compromise for not being able to afford a supra.
cortina either one
Please don’t make videos like this. You literally don’t know what you talking. 😂 I had second hand embarrassment.
Car go vroom vroom, very cool car I love car omg ❤️ 😍 😲 😱 he sounds like such a cute person and muscle guy 😲 😱 😲 😱 😲 😱 😲 😱 😲 😱
my coworkers sc300 has a v6 am i crazy
yes you are
they are often mistakenly listed as having a v6 lol
@@highwaltage bro it absolutely has a v6 in his ill send pics when i see it
Theres a chance you might have misheard your coworker. V6 and I6 sound pretty similar. Saying simply "its a 6 cylinder" also implies either v6 or i6.
@@cvolkmedia at this point i know im not crazy so idk what to tell you i know an inline 6 from a v6 any time of year.
400 over the 300
