Well done on finishing! At least you’ve ticked off another parkrun. It seems you got rid of one injury for another. Hope it recovers soon and well done to your friend Paul for getting a pb! Fab time.
Thanks Jenny, I couldn’t believe it when I hit 5K out on the course😩I did a Parkrun in Bicester last Saturday and the calf was slightly better so I’m optimistic (think the MHM really did some damage tbh). Paul did so well, he’s the trailblazer in our running group🚀
Andy, I hope your calf has healed since your Alexandra parkrun. With the wrong directions, you've probably set the Guinness book of records for the longest parkrun ever completed! You didn't quit, so kudos for getting it done.
@@RunFreeandStrong Hi Reto, thanks, I think I need to start using the foam roller every day, I do wonder whether that extreme effort at the Manchester Half caused sone injury. I honestly couldn’t believe it when I hit 5K at the far side of the park, it was a day I’d rather forget😩I’m determined if nothing else💪
@@AndyCliffMTB Most of us sit all day long and the posterior kinetic chain tightens up. That can lead to PF, calves cramps, hamstring injuries. Rolling should help, maybe also consider dynamic stretching. All the best!
@@SarahDunbar-w2w You’re welcome Sarah, and thanks for watching, you’ll enjoy Alexandra, super flat course, all tarmac, and a cafe (although it wasn’t open that day). I think my calf might be on the mend, latest on that in next video out Thursday, do subscribe if you’d like to be notified when a video is uploaded😊
I seem to remember it being somewhere after 2km when the calf flared up previously. What a pain. At least you managed to set a new record! 😅 Best of luck with the recovery mate.
@@markg99 Hi Mark, yes, it was Centre Vale Parkrun 2 weeks back. The pain was quite sharp, like electricity flowing down my leg😩Thanjs, I think I need a 100,000 mile service😂
Well done on winning the 5.7km race, you're absolutely mad but it's why we love the videos ahah, hopefully you've framed that circle of life somewhere in your home ⭕⭕
@@raleyadventures Thanks😂I don’t think that has ever happened to me before (going over distance), probably wouldn’t have happened if I’d been in the 25-27 minute pack🤔I’m spontaneous, can’t help it, I picked up a disc as I thought I might throw it like a frisbee but then I thought it’d look like littering in the park😂So I held onto it. The COL is in the boot😀It may return….
What a shame about your calf and those directions. I can only imagine the volunteer thought you'd only just finished walking the first lap and hadnt realised you had run a full lap first. I'm expecting this to be the venue for our PB attempt after christmas. If your calf is better, you would be more than welcome to join us for another attempt😀 Wishing you a speedy recovery mate.
@@TheRegularRunner I actually said to the volunteer that I was at the 3.5K mark and was it another (big) loop and she said yes☹️I won’t make that mistake again and wouldn’t have if I’d been running with a 25-27 minute group😊I might just do that, not necessarily for a fast one, just for a decent time😊Provided the calf is cured….
@@abitrich68 Thanks Rich, I do feel a bit hard done to but I’m determined to get back to full fitness- I think the MHM did some damage after the extreme effort after 12/14K☹️

I suffer with calf issues so I feel your pain 🙈 Lots of rehab. Take it easy and come back stronger 💪
