I got this dvd when it came out. Later in 2014, I took shrooms for the first time, and decided I'd watch the dvd when it kicked in. I remember tearing up on some songs and feeling something I've never felt watching a band, I was really proud of them. (Especially on Face of Melinda) Towards the end I got really sleepy, which shrooms can do since your brain is in a dream state basically, I laid back and closed my eyes, and immediately there is was, the Alex Grey art "Net of Being", which is also the Tool album cover for 10,000 days.

It warms my heart you like the shorter guy in Opeth.
The next album was Watershed I believe.
The guy on Mikael's shirt is Vlad The Impaler.
The Roundhouse Tapes is their best live DVD. Best sound, best songs and best Mike interludes of porn music.
I do think it was the BJ scene, Mike.
    You're welcome.
Keep up the good work, Lauren.

For me, this is the best Opeth live album, you got the best of both worlds in regards to Mike’s vocals during this show, his growls were still brutal as hell, but his lean vocals had finally caught up to the quality of the growls (you can hear that this guy could go on to record a song like burden and knock it out the park vocally, 2003 Mike on the other hand wouldn’t fare so well trying to sing like that). Not to mention that when it comes to their live albums, The Roundhouse Tapes probably has my favorite track list selection as well

The T-shirt Mikael is wearing is the portrait of Vlad the Impaler / Vlad Țepeș - the legendary ruler of Wallachia (now Romania) Had 3 reigns between 1448 - 1477!

  • @fancotasargentina8165
    @fancotasargentina8165 Год назад +8

That long growl before the part where que sings "Demon of the Fall" gave me goosebumps. It`s unbelievable that he can reach that note in a live performance, and as you said, at the end of the gig. Nowadays his growling is not as superb...which is totally understandable....more than 30 years pushing your vocal chords to the limit surely has its costs...

Yesss thank you for this one! Roundhouse Tapes was my first real intro to their live catalogue & Mikael's personality, a classic Opeth performance for many of us. Now eventually do Derelict Herds! 😊😉

I’m sure you’ve gotten your answer, but the next album was “Watershed.” with Freddie taking over for Peter, with Axe assuming the drum throne.
And, you’re right, Lauren, Mikael & OPETH have never disappointed me(.)
Oh….I think Bass Guy patented his head-banging move, lol.

Lol! ASS! Lol! Bass guy is a real cutie. I always wonder how guitar and bass players, with long hair, who headbang, don't get their hair tangled in their strings. How does that not happen? You asked about what was on a shirt. If you were talking about Mikael, that was Vlad the Impaler. Have a great weekend, Lauren! : )

The album they did after the break was Watershed. Seeing how most Opethians are on the ball, someone must have mentioned that by now.
While I have your attention there is a wonderful song you should check out by Opeth called Den Standiga Resan. I think you'll really like it, Lady L. It's sung in Swedish. If you like I could write out the translation.
    (I have no life.🤫)
Love your show, Lady L. 🤘😎🤘

I forgot how amazing this live rendition actually is. They almost always come close to the studio version during live performance, and on a few occations somehow even surpass it. Sorceress live at Red Rocks would be one of those occations. This might be another...

The keyboards certainly give the vibe in the record, even though they didn't have a keyboard player when the record was made. It fills the whole space, not that the other 4 instruments aren't filling it plenty :)

I've been a massive Opeth fan going back to Morningrise. This performance always makes me a little sad. In many ways you're watching the death of classic Opeth. This is shorty after Lopez left and right before Lindgren left. To me the "Opeth sound" went with them. This isn't to say that their later material isn't good, just in many respects not the same band. If you want to watch Opeth at their peak(IMO), I'd suggest watching the Lamentations performances.

I agree, except that I think that the record they made after this tour, Watershed, is an absolutely masterpiece and that is the moment where classic Opeth ends....anyway, I still love them and is my favourite band of all time
