- Here it is!! The first 15 pages of my dub of Skailla's excellent "Up and Ahead" comic. I need a lot more voice actors to go on - hence why I stopped here! Look for a casting call soon. I'll be casting Steban to someone else, and possibly other main characters as well, caussseeee I can't handle all these dang voices xD.

My goodness!! This is quite well done! And I do not say that often about fandubs.
Your acting range is impressive to be sure, I didn't quite realize it was you doing everything until I checked the description. The audio quality was clear and crisp throughout (the exception being Margaret, but that was more to do with the actress's recording space and/or mic quality and there's not much you can do with that) though I would personally suggest adding something to distinguish narration from dialogue when it's the same voice -- a slight reverb is a common method for this, as well as establishing thoughts. Your enunciation was impeccable, even with all the different accents and twangs being thrown around - and kudos to you as well for the variation. Really gives the cast a diverse feel and the whole thing an atmosphere of a place that's full of travelers. Though, perhaps consider when voices ought to be muffled instead of clear, for example: 4:47 when Steban's hat is over his face, I personally would have made it a bit muffled (a simple high pass filter with the highest 2-3 frequency ranges lowered). If done correctly, it sounds more accurate and adds a touch of comedy in and of itself.
The pacing of the dialogue is a touch slow but that's coming more from a film-based (I.e. realtime flow of conversation) standpoint. In the context of an audio book, however, it's practically perfect! If you were going for the latter, awesome job! x3
I also enjoyed how you did the sound mix. You went with a more minimal approach to sfx (compared to realistic/film quality wherein everything that moves makes a sound) but that makes the sfx that were utilized more poignant. You did a great job combining the air swooshes with their subsequent collision sounds, in particular.
Given the nature of this comic, I'd recommend looking to expand your collection of footsteps sfx - find some good footsteps on wood if you can, and some on dirt/grass/gravel as well so you can have plenty of variation. Scuffs/shuffling are good to have, too. Just make sure they sound like they're made with bare feet - if there was a shoe on while they were being recorded, it'll be obvious and it will *not* sound like pawsteps.
Again, this was awesome and really well done! I look forward to seeing more! :3

Yeah, this comic was a blast to read through and the story is fast paced and strong, so it was easy to find voices for almost all the characters (with Steban being an exception... Differentiating him from Martin was too difficult for me.) It didn't cross my mind to high pass him with the hat on his face xD
I don't think that I'd do reverb on the narration, but instead I try to read it differently than the lines. Totally understand on the thoughts though!
In retrospect, I did in fact move it a bit slow! Pacing during a lot of narration is difficult for me, whereas during action scenes I try to make it SFX driven, which usually works well.
For SFX I have an absolute TON at my disposal, so it's more of a balancing act of where and how to add it, vs how much time I want to spend lol. I think of these voice projects in layers... The base layer is the comic itself, then the quality of the voice acting, then music, then pacing, then sfx, then adding motion to the comic. The best comic dub projects nail ALL that stuff, but when I'm crunched on time, I forego some of the top layers ;)

Oml OMFA is so old.... for both me and Skailla at this point, I think :') I've gotten so much better since then... film school helped. A lot. When I'm considering how to alter a line or an effect to fit the environment, I think of how it would sound in real life.
Though I'm w/ you on the SFX thing. I hoard stock effects and music so even when I don't have active access to an online stock library, I've got my own personal one saved on three different drives :'D
The more you do it, the faster you'll get, and the easier it'll be to get all of the layers done. My workflow is ordered differently than the one you described but I can bang out a 30-60sec dub in about 2 hours or less, just as good of quality as one of my larger ones that I spend days on. ...Don't ask how cos I have *noooooo* idea.

Part 2 will be a while. I work 40+ hours a week and it takes a lot of time and energy to make a comic dub, so please hang in there ;)

Funny how it's a dog's world with things sized for humans. They couldn't have built much with dog paws! But it's just a story - a beautifully-drawn enjoyable little escape. Awesome!

I hated how Steban voice sounded I think they could have done better at choosing a better voice for him instead of that old western grandpa voice and instead would have chosen his voice to be like a real old western cowboy but out of everything in this video I got to say that it was pretty good but that I hope they change Stebans voice to a real cowboy voice and not the voice of a old cowboy
