@@Kawasaki10rr I mean I’m always happy to be in the world of Tolkien. Sure it’s not perfect but it’s entertaining enough and there’s plenty of overlooked things in this show to be admired.
The quote we hear in the final shots of the trailer, “When darkness falls, there are always some who rise forth to shine,” is spoken by Annatar/Sauron. It's undoubtedly Charlie Viker's voice.
I'm legitimately afraid the writers are going to try to rewrite Tom Bombadil as the second blue wizard, and that's why him and Meteor Man spend so much time together.
That wasn't nearly as bad as Galadriel trying to talk Elrond into wearing one of the Elven Rings of Power while justifying wearing her own Ring. If that isn't opposite of what happens in the lore then I don't know Tolkien
Why? Bombadil is a wise person. He is the eldest and is only asking the Wizard what he is to do. This characterisation of Bombadil as a silly, unwise, unthinking and uncaring person is not at all accurate. Bombadil is merry, and hopefully we will see that, and he is not dragged down by the ordinary concerns hence does not generally involve himself directly in the big events in ME. But he is nonetheless wise and may help the Stranger find his path.

Update to my comment: I'm a lifelong Tolkien reader and collector, but I don't cry about lore changes in a TV adaptation. You guys need to relax. The production of this show is incredible and I'm loving this trailer. Massive improvement from S1. Some canon references and characters for us book nerds, but mostly great action and entertainment for casual fans. That's the point of the show, the haters need to get over it, and it is still bringing more people to the books. I love it and can't wait. I know NOTR is trying to stay neutral because even with this looking so much better than season 1, there are still so many trolls and #toxictolkiengatekeepers But come on, this is an epic trailer, it looks way better than season 1, and I'm totally over the lore changes because it is still awesome entertainment. I can't wait to enjoy the coming season.
Thanks Matt… I am more hyped about your analysis than the trailer per se 🤣 it is because you add additional insights to each shot. Thanks for your love of Tolkien lore!

I'm sure someone else has spotted this, but @19:18 it looks like it's the elven / anatar version of Sauron that gets "crowned". So, it's possible that Sauron was already up to no good as Anatar much earlier than we were aware.
My big hope is that the Anatar stuff happens in the past, he works with Celebrimbor but gets found out and runs. And then Adar tries to kill him, thinking he was successful because Sauron then takes the Halbrand form

I don’t care things were out of order as much as I cared about the short stature of Galadriel lol. And I didn’t like her coldness either. I get this is depicting serious times in her world but Galadriel should have been depicted as at least more charismatic and even charming if her intent was to make it back to Middle Earth from Númenor. So however the show’s producers/showrunners/translators want to tell us their version of ME history- I’m 1000% in. After all, history is told by those…. who took the time to write it down. 😂✌🏻🙏🏻🌊
The fatuous arrogance of a producer/show runner to mutate and modify the art of another, Tolkien of all people, to satisfy and push political agendas, identity politics, and DEI ideologies constitutes artistic blasphemy of the absolute worst and most detrimental kind. The priorities SHOULD have been, in order; -Honor and respect the piece of art you’ve been entrusted with. -THE ENTERTAINMENT OF THE AUDIENCE is essentially 1-B. The audacity and egregiousness these “show runners” propagated, that they knew better, and were worthy of making enormous changes to the lore, for the ridiculous reason and trope “for the modern audience”, is so disturbingly preposterous, and as a consequence, they should never be trusted or allowed around someone else’s art again. They simply should have started over. It was an abject and grandiose failure, ONLY because they prioritized injecting their politics, and actually ENTERTAINING the audience was irrelevant and inconsequential. You’re doing yourself, and everyone else, no favors by palliating and whitewashing the truth as this constitutes a mechanism of enablement……
@@cb5117 I don’t think Tolkien would argue with you. Because I think he wrote these books for people to enjoy. The burning of the Entwives and the shot with Bombadillo and the wizard at 17:52 might be connected?! "Will you abandon them [the Entwives] to their doom?"
Now it's visible that the timeline compression makes no sense....they pick and choose events and elements without any causality established within the works of Tolkien.....hell Entwives plot supposedly being connected to that whole wizard and dumb harfoot side plot in Rhun is what makes no sense...Entwives gardens where they were settled were nowhere in Rhun...by the river Anduin where Brown Lands were later...and those garden scorched in the War of the Last Alliance, thousands of years AFTER the whole forging rings and war in Eregion. Entwives that desired order and control and settling down would be only possible to find elsewhere after they would theoretically fled the destruction of their homes...it's actually important to note that Tom Bombadil and Entwives are....kind of opposite sides of spectrum in a way Tom was more like male Ents...still wandering (though even then he would be already veering into the regions he knew best....wandering Eriador). "[Tom Bombadil] has no connexion in my mind with the Entwives. What had happened to them is not resolved in this book. [Bombadil] is in a way the answer to them in the sense that he is almost the opposite, being say, Botany and Zoology (as sciences) and Poetry as opposed to Cattle-breeding and Agriculture and practicality. I think that in fact the Entwives had disappeared for good, being destroyed with their gardens in the War of the Last Alliance (Second Age 3429-3441) when Sauron pursued a scorched earth policy and burned their land against the advance of the Allies down the Anduin (vol. II p. 79 refers to it). They survived only in the 'agriculture' transmitted to Men (and Hobbits). Some, of course, may have fled east, or even have become enslaved: tyrants even in such tales must have an economic and agricultural background to their soldiers and metal-workers. If any survived so, they would indeed be far estranged from the Ents, and any rapprochement would be difficult - unless experience of industrialized and militarized agriculture had made them a little more anarchic. I hope so. I don't know. - The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, Letter 144

Adar was the only character that made me continue watching this series, Joseph Mawle's portrayal was amazing. However, after the replacement I am not sure if I would watch the new season with previous enthusiasm.😢
Bang on! I was devo'd that he wasn't Sauron!! I thought he was the most charismatic baddie I'd ever seen and LOVED him seeing the orcs as his children. LOVED that they addressed him as Father and had reverence for him. I was really invested in him as a tormented Sauron with his wayward flock, who all share a deep and sadistic emotional bond. It had so much energy and really made me understand why they would follow this destroyer anywhere. Not so sure anyone would follow Blondie anywhere.
The "who is this man?" conversation happens in Lindon, while Celebrimbor hasn't left Eregion. I'm predicting that they're going to keep his identity as Sauron a secret, keeping Celebrimbor in the dark. This would render the "why doesn't Celebrimbor recognize him?" argument null. Celebrimbor does recognize him, but doesn't have any reason to suspect that he's Sauron. He just thinks the elves of Lindon are trying to stop him from creating more rings, because that would take power away from them.

"In the next shot we see the ring continuing to fall down some steps" LOL
I’m thinking that first shot of Halbrand is when he’s leaving Eregion after his confrontation with Galadriel
It makes sense.
that makes sense. i think it would be weird for him to reenter eregion as halbrand.

No he returns to Eregion as Halbrand to tell Celebrimbor "truth" then he will show his "true form"
That’s exactly what my first thought was too.
Nah...he looks like he's been through the wars there...he didn't look that way leaving Eregion...
If you zoom in on the last shot of the charge with the orcs in the background, you can see Adar standing next to a cage on a wagon with someone inside 👀
Spoiler Alert!
It's probably Galadriel. she is supposed to be a caged prisoner in one of the episodes of Season 2
Yep looks like her. There was a photo of her sitting at Adar’s table with him
Better caged than having your dead body made into a banner iykwim 😬
@@dr.k1012Turns out Sauron is far worse than Adar!
@@dr.k1012 yep I’m wondering how they’re going to do that.
I’ll be honest. I’m 43 years old, never read the books, thought the movies were for kids when they came out and payed this world no attention until I got sick and fell in love with the movies and the content creators on RUclips. I mentioned I never read the books and all the lore I’ve delved in to come from the internet, so I have to be honest….I liked the first season and I’m pumped for season two. I live in New England and this will be premiering when we are getting a chill in the air, it reminds me and gives me the feelings I used to feel in autumn, going back to school and enjoying an awesome fall lineup on t.v.

"...not to say Celebrimbor can't have two friends at once..." 😂😂😂 This was a sterling breakdown and VERY knowledgeable.
They have such a great opportunity to really dive into the Nazgûl background
I have to say, it’s so refreshing seeing a channel that’s so positive and hopeful about LotR media. I enjoyed this show in the same way I enjoyed shadows.
The rest would also love to be positive and hopeful about it, if it wasn't all modern agenda-driven drivel.
Definitely. Totally enjoyable for a Tolkien fan, if taken for what it is.
Idk how you can be hopeful with this garbage heap of a show
Yes agreed. I truly don’t understand the hate. This trailer looked fantastic and the plot points seem to be more intriguing than season 1.
@@Kawasaki10rr I mean I’m always happy to be in the world of Tolkien. Sure it’s not perfect but it’s entertaining enough and there’s plenty of overlooked things in this show to be admired.

But Chickens can actually fly if their feathers arent cut.

The quote we hear in the final shots of the trailer, “When darkness falls, there are always some who rise forth to shine,” is spoken by Annatar/Sauron. It's undoubtedly Charlie Viker's voice.
In the clip with the mystics and moths, it looked like someone in the background was raising a staff.
It looks to me they are summoning someone.
These “wings” on the balrog are definitely way more accurate to the description in fellowship of the ring

Dude your breakdown of this is next level and you put all that together in such short amount of time.
Nuts!
Of all the things happened in this trailer, Bombadil asking Will you abandon them to their doom concerned me the most.
I'm legitimately afraid the writers are going to try to rewrite Tom Bombadil as the second blue wizard, and that's why him and Meteor Man spend so much time together.
@@kelseyjmoore Nah you can see a glimpse of Ciaran Hinds as the second blue wizard, surrounded by his cultists in Rhun
That wasn't nearly as bad as Galadriel trying to talk Elrond into wearing one of the Elven Rings of Power while justifying wearing her own Ring.
If that isn't opposite of what happens in the lore then I don't know Tolkien
@@Enerdhilnonsense. That is not the opposite of the lore at all.
The dude looks like Two-Tubes from Rogue One, also a little like the pirate Finn agrees to travel with in the canteen scene in The Force Awakens
Yeah, the pirate is the one that came to mind even before he mentioned Star Wars. Sidon Ithano. Very cool tokusatsu-looking dude.

You’re thinking of a Tusken Raider
Exactly
or Plo Koon
Benthic "Two Tubes," also known simply as "Tubes," was a male Tognath mercenary pilot who flew alongside his eggmate and brother, Edrio. The two shared the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allowed their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres.

The masked riders look like something an AI generated image would look like.
I think in 20:17 it is Elrond's Hand. His actor (Robert Aramayo) has these noticeable short fingers. I paid a lot of attention to his hands in Season 1 for other reasons, so I think they're his.
Thank you for this summary. I am looking forward to the season.

The trailer looks good. The visuals are amazing, and the orcs makeup looks incredibly good!
Halbrand's makeup needs some work lol
I'm sure someone else has spotted this, but @19:18 it looks like it's the elven / anatar version of Sauron that gets "crowned". So, it's possible that Sauron was already up to no good as Anatar much earlier than we were aware.
My big hope is that the Anatar stuff happens in the past, he works with Celebrimbor but gets found out and runs. And then Adar tries to kill him, thinking he was successful because Sauron then takes the Halbrand form
I am personally excited for S2. Plenty brings life down so I go into these things just to enjoy it as it is.
Exactly I'm a simple man more LOTR content releases I watch it and probably enjoy it despite what all the negative nancys have to say about it. Thank you for not bashing the show. I am an absolutely huge fan of JRRT and the books and the movies were beautiful to me. I don’t expect anyone to be able to live up to the movies - let alone the books but I will always be hugely stoked to watch anything that puts in the effort to the visual and emotional storytelling of Middle Earth.
And it was told by someone who wrote it down. JRR and Christopher.
@@RghtBrnd Exactly. Thank you!! 💙
The fatuous arrogance of a producer/show runner to mutate and modify the art of another, Tolkien of all people, to satisfy and push political agendas, identity politics, and DEI ideologies constitutes artistic blasphemy of the absolute worst and most detrimental kind.
The priorities SHOULD have been, in order;
-Honor and respect the piece of art you’ve been entrusted with.
I really want to see all these conversations around Elves’s rings because it connects with idea from Silmarilion that elves rings are against Iluvator’s music. It is a desire of elves to stop the time and give more space for themselves, so in some way it is a selfish desire to control and protect realm instead of allowing time go along away.
Thank you for your open-minded and positive attitude towards the new season. 💜

That crown is definitely a pared down version of Sauron’s helm from the movies
Return of the King was a GREAT game. PS2 glory days.
I was waiting for you 🔥🔥
I appreciate your hard work, you got this so fast!
The crown looks more like it belongs to the witch king to me.
