The big mastro! Karajan! The best for ever! What an explosion of pictures and emotions ! From the peaks of Carpathian mountains with deep and mysterious forests with speedy creeks running to the Danube ,to the big Hungarian Puszta with the huge herds. And the people ! With their specific Hungarian bitter-sweet mood reflected by their csárdás. Everything which is Hungarian is written in this rhapsody! And Karajan brought to life all what Liszt Ferenc wrote about Hungarian nation in musical notes. Superb!
Love this interpretation. Whether piano or orchestra I’ve always thought this piece gets played far too quickly by many. Here you can really feel the weight behind it.
Right. He was very gallant. And, No podium score in front of him every time when the actual performance on stage with his allies, Dr.Böhm, Szell, Matačić, etc.
NEL. No sea usted mami, buey.
This is the best from what I have had hear. I love this song! when i hear it from pianist they thinks is a race and trying to play so fast like they try to do some show off!
Just watched an interview of Ray Charles by Dick Cavett. In it the musician complains how (during their time) it was impossible to make music sound good enough on TV. That is, the sound equipment needed which’d be used in a recording studio for an album, say, heavily got in the way of the visuals when on camera. So he lamented how all his television performances were ones he was unhappy with. I feel very much the same here. The rendition seems tremendous, the performance exceptional, everything’s humming together in unison like a racing Ferrari’s engine… but you sense there’s something like 15-20% missing here. That the wonder of the audio is downgraded and you’re losing out on the experience which all in the audience were lucky enough to be bathed in that night. _Also, I can’t help but wish that some courageous orchestrator had allowed that clarinetist at __3:30__ to play a tárogató instead… Karajan’s take on the arrangement seems to understand so perfectly the elements which musically make the rhapsody sound so totally Magyar, and it would’ve been a lovely touch._
The full quality recording is on BPO's digital concert hall. The sound and video quality are much much better than this shitty upload, but it's still not ideal or studio level.
I don't get it. I had to look up the conductor to find out that he died in 1989. When was this recorded and is it available? Why the dearth of info? You're making money on this apparently so it would seem to be your responsibility to at least give credit to the folks who did such a fine job saving this for us.

Ancora oggi INARRIVABILE!!! Stupenda esecuzione!!!
The perfect musical embodiment of our saying, 'Hungarians party with tears in their eyes.'
It is just beautiful! Thank you!
A most beautiful composition. Has anyone noticed the discordant phrases at 8:40 appear in the 1960s Lost in Space theme tune?
Simplesmente sensacional.
C est génial quel chef ! Quel génie

Losing talented people is a big risque, people pay for
