0:46 Actually... 7 months ago i did a full guide about Dev Times XD (it's on the pinned tweet of my twitter "Helad", for some reason comments with links are not showing :s ) This guide is a little bit old and, trust me, i improved so much from that time so maybe needs a "DLC" LMAO, but it's there for you guys uwu. I hope you enjoy yor time trials!
I remember the first time i started dev times with assembly lane, really struggled with conveyor because of stompers. From then on when you started to upload dev times guides, you made everything more easier and much more fun. Really really really thank you soo much, that you made all those videos, because i would be stuck in Crash Cove, Turbo Track, Hyper Spaceway, Dragon Mines and Spyro Circuit for months, but with your guides it helped me to complete those between 45 minutes and 3 days. You are the best😄😄😄
Older Video, I know, but I have a lot of tips. Crash Cove: Right as your in the middle of the air between the bridge, aim your cart at the very edge. If you do this correctly, it'll kind of carry you giving you extra hang time, do this long enough, you'll get the mini sacred fire that the drift engine gets(if you use drift, ignore this, when your on the edge of the bridge, you go a tad bit slower, but do this for speed and definitely acceleration). Mystery Caves: Fill the meter up COMPLETLY at the beginning, it gives extra reserves allowing you to take the shortcut with out losing speed. Sewer Speedway: Learn the barrel rotations, the way the first one is rotating is correlated to the second way the barrel is going. Roos Tubes: This track is fairly easy to beat, but if your having trouble, do go for the inside cut, easy way of doing this is jumping a bit earlier, it will help you position your cart. Turbo Track: Try to ground u-turn "the section" that we all know and love. Its much faster. To ground u-turn jump, press the u-turn buttons, then keep holding them. Jump and repeat after each wall, so you don't slow to a crawl pace. Slide Colosseum: Jump the grass' at the end because the chicken man doesn't, and please u-turn. Coco Park: U-turn the very last grass cut on the last jump of the grass cut, the cut that the dev does at the end. Tiger Temple: Immediately drift at the very beginning of the track, once you do one drift, jump in the grass and drift, go wide in the grass, but don't go out of the grass, it will give a sudden speed boost( do jump the area right before you go in the tunnel.) Papu's Pyramid: I really don't know what the dev was doing, just follow his guide and you'll beat it. Dingo Canyon: Don't take the mega cactus cut. Polar Pass: Do the mega shortcut on Lap one, to do that, jump off the hill right before the shortcut, jump again after that, get a full perfect boost the immediately jump after. Tiny Arena: What he said... Dragon Mines: Jump through the water shortcut, the dev doesn't. Blizzard Bluff: Hardly ever time trial this track, don't know anything special about it. Hot Air Skyway: After the Blue Fire pad and the two humps after, take a gap jump near the sharp upwards curve. Cortex Castle: Do the spider cut at the very end of the lap. N.Gin Labs: At the end, do not drift, jump twice and do a hard u-turn. Oxide Station: There is a way the completely hug the spiral on the first lap. Don't know how explain it, my channel has a video of it, or you can look up the WR for it. Inferno Island: Try and hit the rope on the bridge after JUMPING off the shortcut to gain more air time. Jungle Boogie: Don't drift through the shortcuts, just jump through them, and u-turn the last cut. ClockWork Wumpa: after the BF pad, u-turn the left, or which ever way he said. Android Alley: Use the speedghost on the track. Electron Avenue: Take a hard u--turn right as you hit the boost pad at the shortcut, you'll avoid the next boost pad and its faster.( Only do this if the lasers just reset.) DSD: As soon as you get in the tunnel, get right up on the wall and jump then u-turn towards the closest wall, if your daring keep doing it, if not, just go back into the middle of the track. Thunder Struck: I hold the Xbox Glitch WR, so I'd suggest watching that on my channel. Tiny Temple: This track is very simple, just follow what he did and you'll be fine. Meteor Gorge: Take snow cuts as much as you can, like the one right after the little caved section and the one right before the toggle. Barin Ruins: What he said... Assembly Lane: Take the Conveyer belt and the Shortcut. OOT: Watch the Video, and do exactly that. Hyper Spaceway: Drop Boosting again, and if you know how, go same side in the figure 8. Twilight Tour: What he said... Prehistoric Playground: Follow what ghost did with the dinosaur cut. After that, just take really good lines. Spyro Circuit: Try going to the left at all times during the figure eight, believe it or not, its faster. Nina's Nightmare: I'm rank 9 on Xbox, so watch my run. Koala Carnival: Same as Nina's Nightmare Gingerbread Joyride right as you go into the shortcut, jump toward the pile of snow, it propels you higher up so extra hang time. Mega Mix Mania: Large dirt SC. Drive Thru Danger:The large jump can be take much larger, so only drift one then take the leap of faith. There you go, all the tracks. Edit: I sort of feel bad for making this comment, I thought I heard him say, leave your own tips down in the comment section, so if you want me to delete this comment, I will.
I've finally beaten the dev on Hot Air Skyway yesterday. The spiral at the beginning of laps 2 and 3 is crucial, and it's a matter of u-turning and jumping to save as much time as possible while keeping the blue fire.
For PS4 pro users: some tracks can really have frame lag, inferno island is a bad one, and it is also noticeable during the shortcut in coco park. Disabling HDR in the PlayStation menu fixes this problem completely!
Did Joyride a long time ago, fearing it, but was surprised that he actually wasn't so good at the last stretches. But like you I also did Dragon Mines a couple weeks ago, knowing all along it was going to suck. So glad that's behind me.
I booted up this game for the first time in months and I was really surprised that I could still U-turn effectively. The muscle memory was still in my fingers.
Pretty much spot on with all of these except for mystery caves! The shortcut definitely should be taken on the first lap. You can keep your fire through the whole thing If you hit the turtle on the outside and u-turn into the shortcut. Not that I think it's a particularly difficult ghost to beat, but it is an opportunity to get ahead since the ghost doesn't take it.
Another tip I would add for Hot Air Skyway is to make sure you U-turn as much and as quick as possible for the spiral in the last two laps because that helps a whole damn much when you're against the dev time here and you're blue flames are still active.
Bs, dude. Taking the shortcut on the first lap of Mystery Caves helped me so much. You can take it well. I was almost disappointed that Mystery Caves was so easy since he doesn't take it on the first lap. (it's also been my old favorite track since the original)
Thanks for this video, Viperian! It helps a lot. Question: is it best to use Balanced Driving Style for all these dev time trials? What driving styles are best suited for each track for the time trials?
Hey AJ! I have made individual guides for each tracks, and I have stated which driving style to use for them! But generally, speed or drift is the best
those dev times are defintly hard but after the update released it took me 2 weeks to beat all of them. but dragon mines crash cove tiger temple deep sea driving turbo track. those are the pain i deal and almost made me rage but a few are easy for me like hyper spaceway' electron avenue n gin labs and everything else i did enjoy the challenge and yeah 2 weeks later i got the wheels.
After doing all Devs without u-turn my advice is: LEARN U-TURNING, makes life easier. Also some other tips: Slide Coliseum: Doing full, perfect boosts is key here. For the grass cuts start jumping just before entering the grass, it's faster. This also applies to any shortcut that implies going into grass/snow/terrain. Polar Pass: In the 8 turn on Lap 1 take left-left and take the turbo pad, on Lap 2 and 3 take right-right and don't take the turbo pad. For some strange reason this is faster. Hyper Spaceway: You can abuse Drop Boosting on Lap 1 in the shortcut section and in the last tunnel so you won't have problems with reserves on Lap 2 and 3
@@keris3920 With the exception of Hot Air Skyway and Turbo Track you can beat all Devs by just powersliding, no advanced techs at all. In some of them I Drop Boosted, but they can be done without that. For Hot Air and Turbo Track you need to Air Brake, that's allowed since it's different from u-turning but I only used it when there was no other way. Hot Air is hard but not that bad since you only need it on the last shortcut, and Turbo Track on the other hand is just ridiculously hard lol
@@Helio_Asou while air braking is probably possible on turbo track, that would be WAY harder than just u-turning. Like, maybe a fun challenge, but I have yet to find a great reason to use air braking in general
@@keris3920 Yeah, it's WAY WAY harder cuz you need to use Ground Air Brake a couple of times, and even cancel reserves at some point since you can't turn well even with Air Brake so yeah, I did it just for the challenge
I still prefer to not U Turn in most tracks as I beat 32 dev times before I learned how to U Turn. I only learned U Turning because I thought it would be impossible to beat certain tracks without it. Most tracks are actually extremely manageable without u turning. So I would say to limit u turning if you aren't really comfortable with it.
1:13 i would like to disagree, using the shortcut on the first lap is definitely faster way to do it, but the thing is... you have to do 2 perfect boosts at the start, drive over the first boostpad, then head for the second boostpad and start drift boosting right and do another 2 perfect boosts, then jump on the turtle on the left and hope it launches you high enough, aim to land on the shortcut and start jumping and then at the end start boosting the the left and get 2 more perfect boosts(or atleast 1 perfect and 1 good) then jump on the bump and get a trick jump boost and start boosting right and you should be good. of course executing this is pretty hard and even i fail it almost 50% of the time. but if done correctly, it should save you.. idk, like 2-3 seconds?
2:07 - Do not enter this "shortcut"! It's not necessary to use for beating the dev times! - TheViperian Me, who used that shortcut to beat Emp.
