I wish I knew all of this back in 2019... I remember being really confused with how to do the U-turning... It took me months to figure that out hahaha :D
Man I just bought this game a few weeks ago since it was on sale, have been watching your videos ever since and this video is just the perfect one for me, thanks!
For switch users, If you still wanna use stick, I have a recommendation. Thanks to a setup wumpalewis showed in one of his videos, if you are up for it, change the button mapping of your right joycon to this. Y=down direction and X=Y. By pressing y and x with this configuration, you can u-turn much easier with the joystick if you feel most comfortable using the stick. I can vouch that its effective as I have beaten all the dev times using this configuration.
Usually I would poo-poo this, but my god I played NF on my sister's Switch after coming from PS4. Holy crap is it bad (including the performance). The joycon cradle doesn't really hold them at a great angle for CTR and the Pro controller is almost actually worse - Because the D-pad is CHONKY and clunky - amost unusable for CTR.
Thanks Viperian I love your videos, I just bought CTR 9 days ago and I've been studying your videos like crazy 😃 I've already beaten a few developer times and I'm almost polished enough to take on my hardcore CTR playing friends
I'm pretty new at CTR and going up against the more experienced players in Game Club adds to how much of a difficult time I've been having (though I am getting the hang of powersliding). Thank you for the guide! Next meeting I'm gonna do an experiment to determine which driving style I prefer. (also I was a little scared at the mention of using the D-pad at first, but then I realized that I grew up playing Mario Kart DS so maybe I won't have as much trouble with it)
@@TheCreativeType Unfortunately it turns out the CTR stuff in Game Club was pretty short-lived; it's mostly Smash Bros., Rivals of Aether, Boomerang Fu, etc. However, I did manage to get a Switch of my own and CTR!
Been playing the original and NF since launch. Over the years with NF I realized that I had grown a lot of subtle bad habits in how I played from the original, though I didn't even know about reserves (or U-Turning back then). Also, I wouldn't say this is a bad habit necessarily, but even though I kept boost wheel on, I pretty much never pay attention to them (and can't really) and do watch the meter when it's safe. The more reserves, the more a mistake can hopefully be ok.
Well, I'll give this game another try in a few days. Community must be kinda dead at this point, but I'll go solely after platinum trophy anyways (which, to my knowledge, has no multiplayer trophies). Could barely beat story mode on Normal during the pandemic, but these tips will certainly help me do it on Hard
Actually wumpa time is for online gaming 24/7, the double weekend is more juicy, since you can earn 2x more wumpa coins on non-online games or up to 10x more than normal amount of wumpa coins.
I finished 1 and 2 back in 2017 but only came back to do 3 a few days ago, currently I’m 2 days into CTR and have to do a couple more tracks for N Tropy, all of Oxide’s time trials and Hard Adventure mode, have you finished this game?
@@TheViperian I never tried the D-Pad but I'll definitely give it a go. Btw you always do an excellent job on your videos👍 would love to race you on the channel if you ever do a CTR stream or something
Just got the game 2 days ago and I’ve beaten pretty much all of N Tropy’s time trials, just struggling with Oxide Station I’m still a couple seconds off
I've got a couple tips of my own. 1: If you can't U-Turn you can rapidly spam Air Brake to take turns in the air. I'm not suggesting that you should stop trying to learn to U-Turn but just know you have a discount option. 2: If you're having a hard time understanding the turns of a track see if Mirror Mode helps. I personally do like like or understand Megamix Mania but Mirror Mode Megamix Mania is one of my favorite tracks of the whole game. Good luck and have fun. Sincerely, a Balanced main.
I can’t help but think of anyone watching who remembers CTR but hasn’t played this before who are confused as hell wondering why you’re playing as a crate
Imma send this video’s link to my friend who just recently bought CTRNF.😁 Ueh....... how do i?🙁 Can u send the link for this vid?🙂 So that i can copy n paste to send to my friend, cuz he doesnt has a gud knowledge in findin vids😆

So glad that my beginner days are behind me :) DEV ahead haha
Thank you Viperian for keeping up the ctr videos, I've been following you last months and been playing this game and improved thanks to your tips

Your game club doesn’t play Smash Bros, and only Smash Bros? I’m kinda jealous.

hey viperian ive been watching your yt vids since the oxide tutorials on the bonus tracks much love
No worries 😆
I bought the game four days ago, and i was able to beat my first dev time today at drive thru danger 😎.
Thats actually pretty amazing that in 4 days you can already beat a dev time.
@@joshuaweldon5194 yeah, but i was grinding the shit out of that track.
very impressive indeed
@@TheViperian thanks to your guide 🙏.
We should play sometime! I'm an Xbox player primarily, but I made sure to buy this on PlayStation as I love this game so much!

This is super helpful thanks, just started
i havent played ctr since the ps1 version and holy sheet the new tracks looks like hell
I miss ctr now. I'll be getting back on it soon to support the online. I'm a weirdo, I beat everything with the analogue stick lol
Nahh, if u feel analog is ok, be yourself :)

I do not understand using analog on ctr, thps or tekken/mk/street fighter games.
But whatever floats your boat.
@@ristuksenvittu well it feels comfortable and I beat the dev times with it😅
@@luk3y935
I cant even beat velo times with the stick😂 u-turns seem near impossible on stick.

O_o imagine having more than 1200 hours on the game and not being aware of the existence of the death boosts
Hey
How do you know your playtime?
I have played the game since day one and never heard of it either.
So cool to see how many subs you’ve gained since I started watching you
really happy to see you around here still :)

To do a u-turn you have to hold down the down button and square button, while at the same time pressing left or right and the R1 or L1????
dont have to hold R1 or L1 in the air
Juicy video
You know, buddy, I really could have used this video two weeks ago, lol.

Tip 14 is off. The wumpa speed bonus maxes out at 9 fruit. The 10th is needed only for the item upgrades.
thanks for the clarification!

Can i get some tips,
im currently playing on the switch and playing w the joystick
im asking for tips to transition to the d-pads
Just play with the dpad and never look back, you will get used to it much faster than you think.
@@ristuksenvittu welp guess theres no shortcuts. Will do that then, luckily just got a pro controller,
long time
Why is drift above accel and why avoid balanced?
The reply to both is higher speed stat.
how u makr it so you go to one by yourself
I can't see the airtime meter

Only true pros use the analog stick.
(I’m actually just too stubborn to switch now and I managed to actually UTurn extremely well with the stick.)
