You certainly earned that pastry you bought when I bumped into you on the street last Friday on that ride Rob💪🏻Great to see you showcasing my local loops & the amazing Harbour Views👍 Cheers. David
With the kids being dropped off at school, I've had a similar issue. It was when I was in the car myself, picking up my child from a public primary school. There is a private primary school one block back. I have to pass this private school to get to my public school. It was a few weeks back when we had that spell of rainy weather. Rather than park their cars and walk a few hundred metres, getting a few raindrops on their precious heads, these entitled parents just sat in their cars, completely blocking the public road, where there are double whites, so you can't even legally pass them on the other side of the road. Meanwhile, I was unable to get to my young son, where I had planned to park 500m from the school and walk up to go and get him. This happened 3 days in a row. On the third day, the police were there and they were arguing with the POLICE!!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! Just the entitlement astounded me! As for riding, I finally bit the bullet last weekend, I built up the courage to ride in the "bike lane" on the GWH in the mountains. It wasn't as scary as I had built it up to be in my head. I had lights galore, tonnes of reflective gear, anything I could to make myself more visible and I just did it. Blessedly, I had no issues with any drivers this time, early on Sunday morning. Everyone was very respectful of this tiny, little, terrified woman on a bike. I'm glad I did it. I don't feel so hemmed into the few off-highway roads that I know between my town and the towns either side of me. Slowly growing as a bike-y-list (I'm not quite a cyclist yet). I made it to Wentworth Falls and back again, which was my goal. Just because I could. A year ago, I didn't even own a bike and hadn't ridden since I was a kid in the early-90s. A year ago I was very unfit and could barely walk to the end of the street at a somewhat-fast pace without getting puffed. I have been really putting in some life-changing habits in place to give me a better quality of life, which now includes mixed-mode commuting to work, including cycling. You inspired me to face my fears in your recent Bulli Pass video. Thank you.
Just on aggressive car drivers in Sydney. There are a few young bucks down Cronulla who quite often hoom cyclist down Kurnell Road. Along with the finely ground glass on the cycle Lane. Coming from a regular Rider down that side of Sydney
Gary, have a look at this video... it gives an overview of these sunnies (and others): ruclips.net/video/gXVGh5phMUs/видео.htmlsi=txAFXGqCFUtxIk3e - Rob
Thanks for your easy and detailed descriptions and honest reviews. I would like to do this ride when I come over from NZ and visit Sydney again. Are you able to share this on Stava?
I've lived in France for 3 years now and the difference in attitude between the French and us Australians toward cyclists is enormous. I'm bracing myself for the onslaught when i move home next month.
Love this video Rob. Fantastic scenery and so beautifully shot. Your camera work is amazing. Well done mate.

The French have and show respect to cyclists hence the Tour de France being so successful. Treated as more of a national sport.
I agree: attitude is everything...
Alas, the attitude in Australia is generally confrontational rather than cooperative.

What pastry shop was that ?
That's Pattison's Patisserie... and it's difficult to go wrong with any selection there.
