  • The leaders of the UK's two main political parties, Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Keir Starmer, participated in their first live television debate of the election campaign. They clashed over topics such as tax, immigration, and the National Health Service (NHS). However, did they truly clash over immigration, or is the situation in England similar to that in America, where Democrats also adopt right-wing stances on immigration? Also in the news: AIPAC attacking Jamaal Bowman, Biden's and Trump's top donors published.

Americans calling the UK system bad is so funny when your two candidates are Trump and Biden.

As someone working within the Labour Party I have noticed that it is far worse for your career to say that you supported Corbyn than it is to say you're a former supporter of Farage or a former conservative

  • @kevintipcorn6787

"he can do anything because of the economy" Labour built the NHS and the social safety net in the wreckage of World War 2, decades before rationing of butter, eggs etc. ended. They could fix things if they wanted, they instead adopted Tory economics 100%. They embraced austerity.

  • @085cur1ty

naaaaah how are you in Hasan’s chat and STILL defending Kier starmer

  • @SvalbardSleeperDistrict

On the claim that Corbyn "called Hamas 'friends'". He has explained exactly where that comes from - he was in a meeting involving a Hamas representative, and at one point that representative left the room, and Corbyn some time later asked, "where is our friend from Hamas?", in the same way people use polite ways of mentioning/addressing someone in a formal setting. Of course bad-faith actors in the swamp of the British "media" and establishment snatched that as an opportunity to smear him with.

Some redeemable things: many of the figures in the Labour shadow cabinet have actually been competent in their previous roles; there are still some very good figures within the party (watch Torsten Bell’s interview on Politics Joe and look at people like Clive Lewis, and Darren Jones); and, there are good people supporting the party such as Dale Vince. Corbyn lost an election to Theresa May and was embarrassed in the election with Johnson. I know more conservative people in the UK and rightly or wrongly they’ll never vote for Corbyn. Sure this party could be a bit more bold in their policies, but they’re trying to appeal to a broad base of voters and they’re not promising anything they know they won’t be able to achieve because they’re trying to rebuild the trust between the government and the people that has been decimated by the Tories.

As a Brit fascinated by American politics, it’s so interesting to see an American who seems to be very interested in British politics. You also do a better British accent than almost any American I’ve ever heard 😂

The problem is normies think labour good tories bad, until things are bad during a labour government and then they switch up. This just keeps repeating vice versa and the 2 party system stays alive on identity politics. They unfortunately don't realise that there's a different option other than just voting for 1 of 2 parties that take turns making horrible decisions and keeping the rich happy

I’m a labour voter and wasn’t old enough to vote in the EU referendum. Tories are awful and Starmer is a literal wet wipe of an opposition. This country is seriously cooked mate.

Every starmer "policy" is just him outflanking the tories in fascism

  • @JackDespero

The UK looks so much like the US that that chatter actually became a VoteBlueNoMatterWho guy, but in red.

  • @Americanbadashh

There's other parties to vote for. Labour is 20+ points in the lead, people can vote lib-dem they're expected to gain dozens of seats. There's even a scenario where they could become the opposition party to Labour. That is just how badly the Tories have binned it. That that is even a reasonable possibility to suggest. It's more likely than a RFK jr victory in the US at this point.
