UK Should've Opened Their 'Processing Centre’ For Asylum Seekers In France

- Immigration lawyer Harjap Singh Bhangal says the UK should have opened their ‘processing centre’ for asylum seekers in France, rather than Rwanda.
Rishi Sunak said “nothing will stand in our way” of getting flights to Rwanda off the ground, as the Government braced itself for legal challenges to the scheme to send asylum seekers to the east African country.
The Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration Bill) cleared Parliament shortly after midnight after peers backed down, ending resistance to the scheme.
The Prime Minister hopes the Rwanda scheme will deter migrants from seeking to cross the English Channel, but on Tuesday morning a small boat was seen leaving the Calais shoreline with French police looking on.
Harjap says: “It’s not about humanity for this government, it’s about optics.”

Stop giving them handouts
I don't think the threat of Rwanda will stop the boats coming across.
it wont but theres many ways you have to tackle it

How is the threat of the Rwanda bill going to stop illegal's entering into the country especially when deportation legislation existed prior to the bill and was not an effective deterrent.
The accomadation and conditions in Rwanda are excellent......to any African it's like living like a king.......no rent...all your meals...clean laundry...pool tables...swimming pools and pocket money.................WHO WOULD NOT WANT TO GO THERE?

Without a doubt the government should have accepted the offer from the French to open a processing centre in France which would then mean genuine asylum seekers would not have to cross the channel.
However their refusal to accept this offer is simply indicitive of their appalling performance on immigration in general with this Rwanda fiasco another perfect example of their utter failure on the issue.
Little is known or reported about the smuggling gangs . I wonder why ?

it's quite simple.
change the law so that ONLY those with valid documentation that asylum has been granted may enter the UK.
ALL asylum claims must be made outside the UK, either in a processing centre in Calais or at any British Embassy or online.
then, any migrant caught trying to enter the UK with no valid asylum documentation can be returned immediately. France has admitted them and is obliged to take them back.
Come on this lawyer needs these people to help fund hos lifestyle.
Rwanda scheme and tackling the gangs are both deterrent measures..

Euro tunnel passport control is in France . So why are " asylum seekers " not processed in the same way ?

A very good and balanced interviewee. Lots of suggestions o reduce migration which can be used on top of Rwanda. Agree that Rwanda is as much about optics and deterrence as it is moving migrants away. 300 places to deals with 10s of thousands as he says is a drop in the ocean.

Rwanda is the first country on the scheme. And actually rather than getting the gangs one ought to be shutting down lawyers like this individual - who clearly doesn't realise the gvt rule the country and make the rules and not a cabal of lawyers.

The gangs are helping asylum seekers get where they want to go.
This is pure racism, why are the British not sending illegal immigrants to Australia or Canada. those are big countries with more resources than African countries.

Fast track the failed asylum seekers out of the country if they managed to sneak into Britain after a failed claim at UK processing centre in France. How?
Those who have failed their claims here, they have never been fast tracked to their home countries.
