This series has showed me the beautiful truth: that shit talking in the SC in-game chat is something that connects all of us, no matter where we are in the world. I didn't have to see the translations or be fluent in Korean to know trolling when I see it 😏🤭
LMAO Dan remembers how many minerals are at the EXPOS ON FREAKIN BLOODBATH LOLLLLL - I think everyone played this map with their little brother to score at least one victory in BW. I remember playing an ultra-long game where my brother had a buncha dark archons and no clue how to use them, while I killed him with 0/0 marines. Weird times.
In this game artosis was literally a guy in the chat giving unsolicited advice to players infinitely better than him

Bloodbath is the most defensive map, it always was. Problem is when you are attacking someone, you open yourself to be flanked by others, so you are incentivized to not attack.
Yeah it's funny how Artosis called it the most offensive map, when even I as a noob could see it would be defensive. It's basically a trench situation, where there's only one central battle area and everyone is turtling

Kinda have to be. Unless you're a macro monster.
I submit the best thing you could do is change the tournament rule as follows: it's single player elimination IFF you have not won a game. Right now, there is no incentive to be #1. Whoever "loses" the first map is NOT eliminated immediately; he would then have to be #1 in the next game to stay alive. All subsequent games therefore have an incentive to be not the loser, but also to be the winner.

I remember playing this one on my first game ever on BattleNet. Musta been y 2000. Died instantly to a drone rush bc I didnt know you could even do that lol
Been playing starcraft for 20plus years Blood bath was always one of my favorites
It makes sense that the map plays out like this. For 2 main reasons: Pros are competitive and want to win. And pros are smart.
What is the point of any attack? To get advantage. To win. There are no expansions to claim here, and any attack only has the potential to give advantage against one other player out of 3, and also increases your own vulnerability. As well as that, unless your attack is flawless and you lose no units, you are now at a disadvantage against the other 2 players, who didn't lose anything.
The game could've been fast if one player tried to get an early kill for the extra base, and then the text chat would start a war over it.
But that didn't happen so there's limited reasons to make a move.

You should know by now that this map either goes blitz or trench and if no one wants to kamikaze for a potential knockout then it's going to be trenches.
Because you have too much incentive on it, and it actually is fairly defensible.

Total recall was discovered wayyyyyy back like 2-3 years ago. You make a worker mine and as it passes the army you make it patrol and you patrol other units on top of each other.
So wayyyyy back in a game that has 23 years is apparently 2 years. Yea allright fam.
No spoilers, but I was really hoping when it got down to 3 it would be one of each race.

Keep Blood Bath, but introduce the rule of "attack clockwise, defend anti-clockwise" and presto.
You can hit the whole map with a siege tank in the middle.

Not sure how feasible it is with different tile sets but it would be nice to have players keep their color throughout all of the matches in an event like this. Great games regardless!
With the patch that introduced all the new colours, you can choose a colour in custom game so it shouldn't actually be hard.
Before the patch, the only colour that changed due to tileset was Brown which was Green on Desert and Snow.

I think I just became a fan of the winner for surviving thus far. That said, I think the players are planning to distribute the prize between them, so I bet the winner gets eliminated next.
seems like once mini was eliminated everyone was trying to lose in order to not win and get ganged up on the next game lol. like shuttle randomly GGing out of the blue and then light at the end kinda just throwing his army dumbly at soma. idk looked like some big throws, is there no incentive to win a map at all?

Can you not move your screen too fast or too constantly? I can see more stuff on the screen if you stabilize a bit rather than keep moving the screen too much all the time. Great cast nevertheless!!!

One of the weaker games so far. Everyone just sat back and let Terran build up..didn't even try killing another player just slowly waited to die ;/

Attacking player becomes vulnerable to the rest all players, especially when they communicate each other. So normally WHITE must have been attacked by TEAL and YELLOW simultaneously in the center......But the goal of this game was specific -- let other win, just dont die the first. Such a strange incentive stimulates players to choose next sacrifice by behind-the scenes' agreement. Kinda j(eeee)wish design.

Artosis, Blood Bath is for noobs. Play Meatgrinder or GTFO. 8 player map, 96x96. Two chokes per base. One island expo in the middle. Git gud scrub.
