These guys clearly haven't seen the incredibly accurate natural history documentary Kong Skull Island. North Sentenal is well known to have a giant flesh eating gorilla, a breeding population of TRex plus many titanaboas. Do wish they'd pop a few more tins and get with the whole isolated island theme.

That gorilla no longer populates the Skull Island/Archipelago, a team of researchers had to locate a new habitat for it after it became a prized target by hunters. A location was established and a plan was swiftly implemented to get the gorilla, named Kong, to his new home. However, the gorilla and team of researchers soon find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla as he cuts a swath of destruction across the globe. The initial confrontation between the two titans -- instigated by unseen forces -- was only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the planet.

Much greater distance between Africa and Madagascar than nth sentinel island and the rest of its archipelagos better documented islands. Plus Madagascar has been a separate landmass for an extremely long time that broke off from a main continent, different to those islands as it allows Madagascar to have a much more diverse started ecology. Finally Madagascar isn’t just many thousands of times as big, but also have many, many different biomes due to terrain, currents, and other influences such sizeable landmasses face. Madagascar has mountainous climates that also allow a higher density of speciation due to so many natural boundaries to many species. It is also within the tropical zone which just further saturates the results of all previously mentioned points

    • @jmolvin9055

@atriox7221 Fair enough, I haven't looked at a map or globe in awhile. I just thought it was fairly close to Africa, which different species have been known to swin long ways, and the crazy chance a tropical storm carries something over on a piece of driftwood or something, but if it's too far from the mainland then that makes sense.

The andaman and nicobar and the sentanalese ilands all are part of India. Indian navy does regular patrols to make sure no person desturbs them, but every decade or so some really excited missionary finds a way to get there unseen and ends up dead. Indian navy does not allow anyone to get in a 3 mile radius to the iland. The only way for you to see the iland upclose is to book a flight from mainland India to the port blair airport, or vice versa. People have put videos on youtube of the flight and of the iland. The whole iland is covered in dense forests.

European people took several people from that island in the 1800s and eventually returned a couple because the rest had died. So those survivors went and told their people what was done to them. So their stories of the outside world aren't very good and I don't blame them for wanting to be left alone. They absolutely need to be protected as they are. When "civilized" people's wars have eliminated most of the population the hopefully uncontacted people will get to repopulate.

It can probably be done but in a very small scale to be useful, I think the thick forest/jungle is the biggest obstacle. You would either have to be too far or cover a very small área, like placing a periscope camera barely peeking from afar into a beach or something like that and hope to catch something interesting. There are very small drones but they are noisy and can barely fly for a couple of minutes. I think it should be important to know if the population is decreasing and how global warming and rising sea levels are affecting life on the island. The question of native species is an interesting one and the ethics of "spying" are complicated and there is little to gain from it.
That said, it would be fascinating.

North Sentinel Island is NOT uncommunicated with!!! The British (during their colonialism/ exploitation of India) did successfully land on the island, they then kidnapped & held 2 adults + 2 children…. To be fair, the ‘hostages’ were treated as guests (the thought being that upon release the captives would be overjoyed about their experiences)…. Unfortunately Brits brought with them viruses/ bacterium/ illnesses to which the natives had no immunity to, & both adults died…
That’s why outsiders are not welcome!!!

TLDR: There are probably unknown species of animals that already exist today, due to the island opening new niches for animals to fill, and so the animals evolve over time to better fill said niches. Theres probably at least a few native bird species, maybe some small reptiles like lizards or geckos, native species of small mammals and insects etc

I think we should all leave North Sentinel Island and its people alone. This applies especially to the predatory missionary types lurking around waiting to prey on the unwary. Fortunately, it would seem that the N. Sentinelese are, indeed, wary. Wary af, and I believe it's no exaggeration to say that they are in fact well wary.

*doesn't work on humans, we watch it work on everything else
Although really, that's not why. One reason is because humans haven't existed for long enough. Give it 1 million years, and the Sentinelese people on that island won't be able to have babies with us anymore. And there you go -- different species.
But there's another reason. Humans have _language_ . So what evolves quickly now is _knowledge_ , not physical bodies, because parents pass on new behaviors through language now, and not genes.
If you look at left-wing people and right-wing people who typically don't make babies together, you might start to see some speciation or divergence in the population.
