I brought a used 2013 Honda Fury in May 2019. It was a trade in from its original owner on another bike at a Honda dealership. It had just over 11000 miles on it. The previous owner had put a Corbin seat on it with a back rest and also Cobra pipes. It was and still is in mint condition. No dents or scratches. I payed $5700 out the door. The dealer wanted $6000.
I actually test rode both bikes and wound up getting the Stryker. Though on looks alone the Fury is better, the Stryker was just an all around better bike and better value. The suspension is more forgiving (especially up here in the Northeast, with the horrible winter we just had and its effect on the roads), tight turns are easier to manage, and I actually like the wider tank--it makes it easier for me to hug my knees against it.
This was the review I needed. These were literally the last two bikes I'd narrowed down to when I trade in my GSXR (yes i'm going to the dark side...or seeing the light depending on your stance lol) but Stryker it is.

@@92akucaballero97 i got my 2014 Stryker new as my second motorcycle like six months into riding, was about to get a more sporty GSXS 1000F just to feel what having something faster would be like but nah, i like the comfort and that just makes the ride much nicer. Gas mileage could be alot better but when youre pinning it on the highway here and there it kinda uses gas lol. Just hit 23,000 miles yesterday

This is one of the best video reviews i have seen in terms of the presenter. This guy is well spoken, isn't constantly smacking the bike or doing some other type of stupid nervous behavior.
I'd go for Stryker myself. Belt driven over shaft (just personal preference) and more maneuverable. I just have hard time with idea of shaft driven "Big Dog". In my time, I've owned Yamaha Silverado 1100, Honda CB550, Shadow Aero 1100 and a Valkyrie and a Victory TC Deluxe. I currently own a Road King, Low Rider and a Victory Kingpin. If I could justify a fourth MC in a two person household, the bike I'd love to add is the Honda Africa Twin 1100. I know, I'm weird.
Both bikes are winners in my opinion. I am a re-entry rider in 2023 of 25 years. I bought a 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 for the one reason that it is powerful and sits LOW because I have a bum knee. It's one of the lowest seats at 24.5". I rode it for two weeks and got my skills up, but felt the Shadow was a perfect 40 mph bike. I took a risk and without a test drive traded it in for a used 2011 Yamaha Stryker 1300 and I made the BEST decision, ever. I LOVE the Stryker. It's the most powerful, STABLE on the freeway bike I've EVER ridden. It sticks like GLUE and rides like a Cadillac. I also bought a used 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 1500 with 74,000 miles and needs some work. I got it dirt cheap and dropped it off at the local shop.
I love both of these bikes, the Fury is just too beautiful. I'm getting one.

Same here. Went looking at bikes today and these two were among my top favs. Fury was really low to the ground, more than I thought it would be. At 6.3 the Striker might have a better seat height for you.
Getting the striker this weekend
I bought the Honda Sabre back in 2012 and it came with a China customizations. I got the Corbin leather seat I got the Cobra intake and exhaust. And a few other bells and whistles. But this bike for the past seven years has ran Flawless. Apart from oil changes and tire changes we're talking zero issues. If and when I decide to do sell it would only be for the fury which is the exact same engine. What if you buy one of these bikes feel comfortable knowing that you won't have any mechanical issues. And also with the fury there's a ton of customizations that are available. One is called Low and mean.

i have the yamaha stryker with the cobra exhaust and power commander . has the total package ! enough torque to have fun and comfortable to cruise.its the affordable version of the vrod
The Stryker with Cobra exhaust sounds AMAZING. I drove one home for my buddy today. I was absolutely shocked.
I've two Strykers and they handle and really comfortable on the long hauls. rode the fury a buddy had a few times and was not impressed on the highway with the wind blowing hard. it's just too narrow. either way I moved up and have a harley davidson breakout now. but I would say the Stryker is the better of the two, you will not be disappointed with performance too. or step it up and get the raider. it's a beast.

@MrR1D3R I'd vote this up a 100 times if I could. My Harley friends are always complaining about the cost of maintaining it. Not me!
Stryker Looks better in my opinion
I rode a Stryker....rode "harsh" in my estimation, and didn't handle all that well. I haven't ridden a Fury yet, but have owned two Hondas, and they both were exceptionally reliable. Current bike is a 2000 Dyna Wide Glide, from HD; it rides very well, has plenty of power, and is very comfortable.
The problem with the Stryker is the wide high seat and the some of the trim pieces. Especially near the rear, is just seems too busy with no smooth flow to lines. Honda did a great job on design with the Fury. So what, it has plastic fenders. You want metal? Then buy some metal ones or fab up some customs. And I could care less about having enough padding for a passenger. You want comfort for a passenger get a sport touring bike or a H-D 'Glide.
FURY. This isn't a very good comparison really. The Stryker is a cruiser. The FURY is a CHOPPER. But, I understand... you didn't have anything to compare it to!

superturboawesome does it take away the top speed limiter, I have a cobra fi2000 on my 2012 blue fury but it still limited to 100mph ??
@@Coyote-pj1iu with a PCV you have to contact them personally- you sign a waiver and they give you a code for the "RevXtender", to lift the limit in all the gears. You'll be able to rev beyond the stock limits in all the gears including the 100mph limit in 5th.
Fury is a cool bike, and who likes it will buy it, talking about yamaha? Yamaha makes real motorcycles, that speaks by itself! :D

2015 Indian Scout is going to be a serious contender here.
I will be very surprised if it does not take a lot sales away from Honda and Star.
At twice the price and unproven reliability or even longevity as a company, I'd say neither Honda or Star have anything to worry about. However , Harley Davidson and Victory should be concerned (victory less so than Harley since both are owned by Polaris if I understand things right)
***** Actually the Honda and Star bike cost 2-3 thousand more than the Scout. The Scout weighs less, handles better and has a lot more power than every other bike in the same class. That is why I believe it will be a good rival. Add a few folks who want in on Indian's new History and an American made motorcycle that is not a Harley.
I doubt they will steel much from Harley because most of their market has are blind follows looking for a modren reproduction of an older motorcycle.
The Indian Chief is essential that, but the Scout is a more modern interpretation, an evolution to the American style cruiser. Much like Victory has been doing.
Star and Honda have been successfully blending the two themes but some of their latest offerings are uninspiring or even a little over priced considering the cost conscious plastics detailing much of their products.
That is not to say the Fury isn't really cool looking even with plastic chrome covers and fenders. I am a fan of this look but the engine lacks, well excitement.
Star motorcycles always come off as if they are just trying too hard. There are bits on the Stryker that do not seem to mingle with each other and the have a nasty habit of putting ugly plastic covers up front of the fuel tanks to cover the fork necks. It is just too much or not enough depending where you look when admiring their designs. Again, the Star 1300 mill is just boring. I have ridden these bike looking for the replacement for my old Suzuki 1400 Intruder and they handle only marginally more stable while still suffering that familiar raked out under-steer. Arguably they are better rides all around in comparison to the old bike but their engines are underwhelming at best. Probably well balanced to the character of each respected chassis but boring where it matters most. Punch.
And their each over $12000 American dollars, and they weigh more.
The Scout starts at 10999 and from what I have seen also offers better fit and finish details.
Yeah, I saw an earlier figure that was predicting the scout would be in the 20k mark, but now that the real number is out, I agree. Still might need a few model years under the belt for people to trust them though.

Victory has been doing well. Even their earliest models are more reliable than any HD aside from a VRod or Sportster.
Certainty they learned a lot on their way to resurrecting Indian.
Honestly even I don't buy in I am routing for them.
It is nice to have some more American manufacturing.
I bought a Fury. Now I want a Raider. But I love all of these bikes, plain and simple - no matter which one you choose you're going to have a hell of a good time, and have lots of good conversations and rides.
How did u like the fury? U want the raider because it’s faster? These are my top 2 choices I’m getting next I’m leaving my gsxr750. Good bye sport bikes q
@@92akucaballero97 I actually doubled down and bought a Raider, so now I have both bikes... I listed the fury for sale but it's hard to let it go, especially the lowball offers, so I'm keeping it. The Raider is amazing. So much power, more traction, better lean angles and handling, way more powerful brakes, larger rear seat and fender, the whole bike just feels more sturdy and stout, it really is big brother to the fury. It's awesome.
superturboawesome thanks man ! I appreciate the info. Sounds like the raider is the bike you have more fun in and ride more. But it’s like that fury has a spell on me man! I know the raider is more my riding style but the looks of that fury 🔥
@@92akucaballero97 you absolutely cannot go wrong with a fury. They are amazing bikes for what they are. Honda's reliability is unmatched, you'll enjoy it for years with no problems, and there is a ton of aftermarket available for all kinds of custom parts, you can turn the fury into anything you want. They turn heads everywhere you go, and no one knows what they are. Do it man! 👌🏻
Good review but I think the 2010 Honda Sabre would have been a better comparison than the Fury
@Rezaroth Depending on what your goal is , the aftermarket makes steel parts , but look at it this way , plastic weighs less , and it never rusts , and its cheaper to replace if you ever have to. So for longevity its can be a good thing. A corvette is plastic/fiberglass , yet is world-class , all depends on what your trying to do with it. Just how I see things, ride safe!
mrbigdom88 Better for longevity???? UV rays destroy plastic very quickly. It gets brittle and cracks. If you want a trashy beater then plastic is your thing. You want a nice bike then there is no sub for steel and aluminum. Thats like comparing a Glock or M&P to a 1911 or CZ75. They all shoot great but the 1911 and CZ are the ones your proud of and show off.

Both better than any harley. Harley is not about riding its about buying an image. If youve ever ridin a harley you know what im talking about. The yamaha screams quality. Look at one in person. The fury is nice both of these are substantial. Harleys are dinky in comparison. Overpriced vibrators.

Fantastic detailed review. Very well done. Wish all cruiser reviews were this good.
My only complaint with the Stryker is the position of the foot pegs. I wish they were a little bit higher/further forward, as I've dragged my heels on more than one occasion while leaning into tight turns.
I have a strong Honda bias because every honda I have ever owned (both sport bike and curiser) has been rock solid and bullet proof. With that said, either of these bikes would be really cool to own. The Honda does look way better though.
@viggoM35 I agree with you 100% plus the plastic is lighter and no corrosion, i am all for lighter i had a 06 Yamaha 1100 V-Star cruser and it was Heavy for me i not a big guy so the Fury would be nice and light and the seat low all the Yamaha's i sat on are to wide in the seat and to tall for my short legs Yamaha seems to make bikes for big people and don't think much about the smaller man out there . I am just excited to get a fury hehe ;)
The plastic may be lighter but over time, UV rays will destroy it. Not to mention that the Fury is heavier than the Stryker anyway!
I love my Stryker. People always ask, "Is that a Harley?" to which I always answer, "Hell no, I'm better than that!"

My opinion is,, fury is more like a chopper which supposed to be custom and not widely identical around the world. Its the creative side of motorcycling. Although it is good looking, but the rigid frame make it not a factory custom but a mass production of quick chopper Ready To Run. While the yamaha has done a great improvement since dragstar.
Fury looks nice and slick but as far as performance such as handling and total package, Stryker hands down.

Wishnu, I got some real bad arthritis in my left hand, and I totally agree with you. I want to go cruising again!!!! Been looking at some of the easy shifts,RSC,Hale,etc, have you or anyone else had any experience with them? I would like to BoB a bike this summer and go riding with my son on his Electra Gluide.

One major difference that he missed is that Fury comes with ABS brakes as an option, the stryker doesn't. Which os kinda deal breaker for me.
Hi samantha, have you removed the baffles in your cobra exhaust? If not, you should it makes a huge difference in terms of power, fuel efficiency and what a sound!!

metrics have come a long way... very nice. can't stand being told by my in laws how i'm a traitor for riding my triumph street triple. i have to keep reminding them that their harley has only 2% parts manufactured in the good ol' USA while assembly barely happens here anymore as well. I'ld love for someone to truly bring back Indian but polaris will fuck that up royally. as for these, that stryker is nice and I prefer that to the honda. plus a lot more can be done with tweaking imo...
I ride a '11 yamaha stryker, i adore it but i must say that i idn't liike the look of the exhaust... So i just changed it for a Cobra speedster swept exhaust and , man i totally dig in my bike now!! Tried both cause i did like the Fury's look but i didn't like the handling at all. My opinion. For those asking id rhe bike is tall enough for them, i'm 6'2" and very comfortable on it. Anyways, there is an aftermarket setup to push the controla and pegs 3" forward.
If you change the exhaust do you have to mess with the fuel Injection. Cause I thought that if you had carbs and you changed the exhaust. You had to rejet the carbs
These bike may have a better handling and performance, the Harley's detaied concept make it worth the cost. Like the curve of the exhaust, frame and paintjob,, engine design, n sound. Harley sells their main ponit of riding, which to travel from A to B exclusively. Im no bias, i didnt owned any cruiser(yet), but ive been drawing them since i was 10

I will stick with my Harley but these are nice looking bikes. I would not mind trying them out for a spin.
I don't get it. You can chop or cut plastic just the same as metal. Apparently the reviewer hasn't done any fab work. Even if you don't use the original plastic fenders on the Fury you still can fab some metal ones to fit (if that's your preference in materials).
Liquid cooled, air looking is the way to go for reliability and comfort.
I like belt drive over shaft and steel over plastic.
If I had the money would buy a fat boy and add a small oil cooler.
Star is better in person than in pictures. Saw a Raider and a Stryker. Thought I would hate the exhaust bend looks and in person looks better than I thought. The Stars look and feel more substantial. Honda is late to the party - American Chopper was going off the air when they introduced the Fury, Interstate, Sabre lines. In cruisers, comfort is King.
Honda dropped the msrp to $9,999 for the 2015 Fury.

Maybe but me, there is nothing that I like about the fury. When I jumped in the 1300cc category I would have bought the Striker. ( I bought a VTX1300 instead.). Even if the fury would be less expensive I would not buy it. Not my style. Now I have the Raider xv1900

Fury is a bastard of the Harley Rocker. I hate what they did to the Sabre I love my old style 2006 Sabre.

I couldn't believe what Honda did with 1300 Fury. First the name "Fury" I thought was kinda lame. The The tank to me is ugly as sin and the big gap between the tank and the frame makes it look cheap for some reason. I'll take my 1300c VTX any day over the Fury. More power 74 hp on my VTX vs only 53 hp on the Fury.

Chris Duffin I'm 6'4" 300lbs. I ride a Stryker. My only complaint is the foot of location, but there is a kit you can buy that moves them forward 3 inches, which will solve all my problems. handlebar height is perfect for me, but i am going to be putting on drag bars.

both nice bikes but i am going to buy a FURY, I am between the Blue one or the purpleish color one it just has nice style , i have always had Yamaha but time for a change and the stryker bike looks funny and squished and they make most there bikes for big fat guys or tall people them seats are huge, us shorter guys could fit the Fury well. on offence to the fat guys ;) us smaller guys like to ride too haha

The shaft drive is just stupid on the Honda. Why in the heck did they put a shaft drive on a chopper!? That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life and it completely ruins that bike.
The Stryker is a proper production Chopper with a 40mm raked front end and a big fat belt and a big fat rear tire and NO stupid shaft drive to rob power
If I could find one of those Honda’s for about 1500 bucks I’d buy one 😂. Cool bike but no way I’d buy a new one with the amount of money lost on it
