Self Control by Frank Ocean (Full Drum Cover)

I'm kicking off a new weekly series of drum covers featuring contemporary artists from genres spanning pop, hip hop, R&B, and more. Every Tuesday I'll be posting covers staying true to the original drum parts of songs I love. And every Thursday I'll be taking creative liberties by imagining my own drum grooves for songs without drums or putting my own spin on the beats!
To start it off, this is my take on Frank Ocean's gorgeous tune "Self Control" from his groundbreaking album Blonde. As you know, the original song does not actually have drum parts written. But as a humble session drummer just trying to get Frank's attention (hey, crazier things have happened right?!), I imagined what drum groove I would add if he ever asked me "Yo mate, got any ideas for drums on this track?" Please enjoy my unsolicited drum ideas for this breathtaking song and let me know what contemporary artists you might like to hear in future weeks!
