I think it would be amazing if Summer is visually impaired and has a guide dog. AG has the ability to do good research and to come out with a doll who represents well. We'll see if they do. :) Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Wow I used to work at the AG store in NYC back in the day and I am shocked the dolls aren’t just for a year now! Things have definitely changed and not for the better! Give each girl her full year! Kanani was my favorite but I hadn’t had to sell her 😢
I got tickets for Wicked for this weekend and I bit the bullet and I got the Elphaba outfit. I am dressing Kavi and taking her with me. It would be my first time taking a doll out wish me luck. I have Cerebral Palsy. Which left me with multiple disabilities. I would love a doll with multiple disabilities. Her big ticket item can be a remote controlled power wheelchair.
I'm almost completely blind and I've been trying to get American girl to do a blind girl of the year for years! When I was a kid, my mom and I would send a letter to American girl (in print and braille) asking if they would consider making a blind girl of the year (maybe with a white cane, brailler and service dog) and we never got a reply.
I am also a visually impaired doll collector. I love the idea of a visually impaired character!
I don't like that AG has kept the previous GOTY around for 2 whole year's after her release. I like it when they were retired December 31st and New GOTY was released January 1st. Now with Lila being released in October other than Lindsey and Kailey they were released the middle of the year and then retired later on in the new Year in like May or something
American Girl has the new upcoming GOTY in the work's and being made and Ready for purchase come her release date.
I'm going to be getting Lilla very soon I was going to order her when AG had the last promotion that ended yesterday.
Nicki Girl of the year 2007 had A service dog that she was training that was a part of her story. In 2020 Joss was the first GOTY to have a disability with joss having a hearing aid and a story.

I have to say, I fully agree with you Kyla! It is just a bit messy lol. But really I feel like they should be that doll of the year, and for that year only! Unless if they have more of the dolls in stock, then they can continue selling them until they are completely sold out.
